Hello, Curious if anybody had any advice on how soon I should start braking from high speed to stop at a station? I did a run this morning and was coming down from around 130 - 140mph. The brakes seemed rather non existent as I applied everything nearly to full from a mile and a half out and still blew right past the station (and past the next signal which effectively ended the run). Thought maybe some people had some tips on slowing down this beast. Thanks!
I try to go into suppression braking about 1.5 miles out and that should be enough. Although I’m always doing about 120mph. So maybe start 1.8 out or so.
I have always tried lighter braking on other routes. Suppression sounds like max braking, but I guess if it works it works. Thanks for the tip!
I just do suppression braking and dynamic braking to max at 1.5 miles out and adjust if I'm going to undershoot or overshoot. The acs64 doesn't really have strong brakes so you want to brake early if you want to stop at the right place
Maybe it was 120. I could have been recalling the number incorrectly. I'm going to give the route another try tonight and see where I get along with the tips provided.
Thanks for the tips. Suppression braking did it. I guess it's just an unusual braking system that I'm not used to. Thanks again.
