So after living thru TSW2 and it's many technical which may never get fixed unless you buy TSW3.I started to wonder about the original TSW/TSW2020 and it's unresolved technical issues, which leads me to ask anyone who suffersed thru those dark days, just what kind of technical issues with routes, locomotives, and anything else where left to ages?
I think the list of bugs left to the ages would crash this forum's software. Basically, too many to list.
TSW2020 get superceded fairly quickly and I don't remember any major updates once TSW2 came out, if anything because of the amount of work to go from TSW2020 to TSW2 (which was bigger than from 2 to 3 because the UE engine version changed which it didn't between TSW2 and TSW3)
getting trophies was fun in 2020 on PS4 you would have to sometimes leave PSN offline and wait 2 hours for trophies to pop sometimes! I got every trophy in 2020 so it was a drag at times. TSW2 was a step up in that regard as it worked better but still has a few dodgy trophies / achievements. So glad you have the option to add a new driver otherwise I would have hated to see what it would have resulted in
I got tsw2020 like a year before tsw2 came out, so I only had the base routes to play around which was lirr, ntp, msb, gwe, spg. I had no issues playing those routes and it was quite fun. I also wasn't engaged in forums, so I wasn't aware of all the bugs each dlc had and steam reviews were all positive with little bugs. Tsw2 had a rough start and I started engaging in forums more to find out what bugs are present, whether they are gamebreaking or not. I enjoyed most of the routes despite their issues. It felt much more stable and consistent. Tsw3 released and I would say it is much more rough compared to tsw2. The port resulted in many bad things and the quality is all over the place. I like the new features, but they aren't well implemented. For stability and consistency, I actually like tsw2 better, but I have uninstalled that so I can play tsw3 and see what's new and what's being released
Is it best to run all TSW2 DLC’s under TSW2 and all TSW3 DLC’s under TSW3? So basically having both TSW2 and TSW3 as stand alone games?
Basically no. There have been game engine updates in TSW3 which do affect the way the compatible DLC run, which can make things better overall. There are a few "TSW3 specific glitches" but then there are also a lot of "TSW2 specific glitches" so it's horses for courses
