I noticed the other day that AP sends you straight to PayPal when you make a purchase now, rather than allowing you to enter card details on its own website.

Not an issue in itself, but I’ve noticed now that when you return to the AP site, the item you purchased is still in the basket (even after a page refresh).

It was easy to spot when buying one item today and the basket had two items and double the price, but was thinking I might not have picked up on this had this change been in place a few weeks ago when I bought a few wagons: an extra fiver or so might have been overlooked.

Anyway, just thought it worth mentioning as a heads up in case someone gets caught out…

It's always been that way, you have to manually clear both your wishlist and your basket.

I wouldn't worry about it too much I've duplicate purchased in the past though that was not to do with not clearing my basket, that was following a requirement link and then heading straight to checkout, because I hadn't gone via the main categories on the AP site I never saw the [YOU OWN THIS] green button. Anyway once I realised "hang on I already bought that before I'm sure" I contacted AP and they reimbursed me, no fuss no bother. It's definitely worth checking through your purchase history though.

As for PayPal it annoys the heck out of me if any online company DOESN'T offer PayPal purchase options, it's another level of security in protecting your online banking information and is definitely my preferred payment option over entering my card details onto a site I have no idea of how strong or scrupulous their payment system is.

I've never had to manually clear the checkout basket. When the new weather pack is released I'll pay more attention, and see if it does it here as well.

First time ever I’ve had to manually clear the basket on AP too. If this experience isn’t the same for others, there must be a dependence on individual setups I guess.

Could just be a temporary issue with the site. I'll check it out when the weather pack is released, as it's a definite buy for me. Thanks for the heads up though.

Just FYI for sites where you are directed straight to PayPal for payment, you don't need to pay using a PayPal account....there is usually a "checkout as guest" button ( or something similar ) where you can then enter card details etc and be given an option to proced with, or without, creating a PayPal account.

When I have gone and purchased something from AP most times I see my previous purchase still in my shopping basket. I have never worried about it. I just deleted my previous purchase.

I have never noticed my purchase still being in the basket after the transaction has completed and I have been redirected to the site I must admit.

Seems like some are seeing it, some are not. Maybe worth checking what browsers people are using. Firefox v110.0 here.

I've never had to delete anything in my basket once the Paypal payment has gone through, I go straight to my download area and click on the button. What I DO have to do occasionally is manually delete any items on my wishlist, as that doesn't get cancelled automatically, but, it's no big deal in the grand scheme of things. And the best thing is that his website shop tells you what you have acquired over the years, just in case you try and purchase it again in a Sale, one of the favourable things Richard implemented on his site since he started in 2009-ish.

    Cheerz. Steve.

All I've noticed after purchasing from AP is being automatically logged out of my AP account. It's tad frustrating.
