Looks like people who have an AMD Graphics Card have issues with the Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0. Also, not sure about RWE / RWE Pro but RWE 2 has had a compatibility update for the Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0. It also detects if you have the Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 installed and stops you from using some of the programs shaders if that is the case.
Yes you can. You would have to do it yourself though, luckily not too difficult. You would have to copy the TimeOfDay season folders from the new AP Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 folder, there is 4 and named "Summer", "Autumn", etc. Then you go to the route folder you want to apply the AP Sky and Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 to and if there is a TimeOfDay folder in the route folder, paste the 4 AP Season files in there. If there isn't a TimeOfDay folder, make the folder yourself in the route folder and simply just name it "TimeOfDay" and then paste it in there. If this doesn't work, it may be that the route uses different names for the season files. You would have to find these out if the TimeOfDay folder isn't there probably by using some sort of extraction program like 7zip. For example if the routes weather season files were "Summer_Season" you would have to rename the AP File from "Summer" to "Summer_Season" for it to work. Same applies for the other season files.
KTL_Rob Powell how you getting on with the pack and your scenarios is it as easy as it sounds to convert them to v2 Pookeyhead how is it when running a scenario that uses v1 weather on v2 install. If you want to test one here is a shameless plug for a scenario I made using v1 :p https://alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/1m88-glasgow-central-manchester-airport/
But this still does not justify weathers that use fog should be broken at night. In reality this screws up 1/4 of your quick drive experience.
Appears to have been a fix for AMD users that were having issues so if you use AMD re-download it and reinstall it.
I don't mind the price, I got V1 at full price when it was released. Given the amount of scenarios i played with it or made using it, i think it rounds out to roughly $0.01 per scenario. A pretty good deal in my eyes. Def got my moneys worth. V2 is like a new addon for me now. No gripes paying the $35.60 for it on my end. Especially given that the amount of variation provided has increased by more than 200%. Nearly 200 Standard weather Patterns, 144 Individual control Patterns, plus 262 Transitions, i think it is certainly value for money. definitely when compared to the V1s 82 Standard patterns, 53 Extensions and minute 41 Individual control patterns. And yes, i did just spend 30 mins counting the patterns from the manuals. Why? Because i can lol
Having created a scenario with the pack last night as a 'test' I'd say its going to take me a while to replace my 'custom' weather patterns with the new AP ones, and they'll be done on clones of the originals so that people who simply put can't afford to throw £24.99 on a pack like this at the moment (obviously less for users of V1) can still enjoy my content - Basically a lot of work ahead but it'll be worth it
So far... and I only played for an hour or so last night, it just ignored everything and used default AP weather. I've not played a scenario that had programmed variable V1 weather yet though. I'll test your scenario later.
No issues I can see. It doesn't even know that you have it installed, and everything seems to work as normal as it did with v1. I have disabled fog in RWE though, as I just feel there's no need for it any longer.
On railsim.de, the developer says that fixes for rwe and rwepro to stop overwriting the shaders will be available soon. A patch for RWE2 dropped last night.
Now that the weather EP is available and not WIP wouldn't it be better to start a new discussion on its use?
Well, it loads, and runs, and seems to have the default "cloudy" weather. I only drove it to Motherwell though.
I say it’s fine if we discuss it still. It’s very new, and keeps general discussion of this new pack in one place and is good to talk about it and voice our opinions with the pack.
you should have had rain between glasgow and motherwell ok so V1 weather does not work with V2 obviously. Also the AMP bug has been fixed simply redownload the pack
No, but does seem to behave the same as when people didn't have the weather pack at all. The scenario just runs with default weather. It doesn't seem to break it as such.
I am very happy with the 2.0 pack so far. Very impressive indeed! However... I have one big issue with it that I really want fixed. Foggy conditions are very buggy visually for me. I ran a scenario on Portsmouth Direct Line: London Waterloo - Portsmouth route and although the fog effects very impressive, I experienced multiple visual bugs. Here are examples. Some objects just not fading into the fog. Train windows not fading into the fog and its a bit hard to see, but strange white outlines on the trees in the background Another example of objects sticking out and not fading into the fog. Example of both the non-fading object and windows bugs. Also a major visual bug for Quick Drives when you set it to Night Time with Foggy or Stormy conditions, its just this very bright light blue colour for some reason. Like I said, I am loving the pack but I must admit the weird fog bugs took me out of the immersion a bit on that Portsmouth Direct Line scenario...
yeah NGL those pictures ruin it. I know the sim has its limitations and stuff BUT when your charging premium prices the price should reflect these things. What i noticed and AP do not mention this in the video is at the start you get that forked lighning. Now that to a newcomer and lets not face it a long time simmer will thnk you get that forked lightning with the pack. BUT the text on the website states this. which could be misleading as its not stated in the video.
And is also a lie. As you *can* add forked lightning (theirs) to your own scenarios and it *still* works. I know a few people who have tested this (Though its currently beyond what I do sadly, I appreciate those who get it to work )
Last picture is the same bug as i’ve reported. Fog at night has daylight fog. The other pictures is a longtime bug where things that are 100% black does not get obscured by the fog.
Yes, I have emailed Armstrong Powerhouse and luckily got a quick response. He said that the objects and windows not fading into the fog is a core bug with the simulator which he does not advertise as fixing. However, I also mentioned the night time fog bug and he said it doesn't sound right for sure and requested screenshots. I have emailed him back with some screenshots so hopefully we can get a fix for the night time fog issues soon.
He's generally very good at dealing with feedback quickly. If it is an issue he can fix it'll get fixed
So, just to clarify, if you have V1 of the SWEP, it displays in all drive options; if you have V2 of the pack, standard and not dynamic weather will appear in Quick Drive, but everything else will default to DTG sky/weather unless each and every route/scenario is edited? The ‘revert to default’ referred to, is this definitely the DTG weather, and not even a SWEP v1 that could have been left as a default? So the choice is now between SWEP1 across the board v SWEP2 in QDs and DTG skies in everything else? (Apart from the supplied thunderstorm scenario.) Just wondering if it means I’d be spending £19.99 to get SWEP2 for Quick Drives only, which I don’t use really, and all the scenarios I do run will now just have DTG weather until such a time as they’re updated.
What assets are they that are not fading into the fog? Clearly some are, and some are not. Have you raised a ticket with AP? [edit - yes I see you have] It could be an issue with certain asset properties that AP have not tested for because they are either old, third party etc... or just because there are so many assets in this sim now, that's it's almost impossible to test for all of them. Despite what was said, if enough people complain they will do something. Loads of people just thought the 87s cab looked a bit rubbish, and they fixed that (shrug) To be honest, this is not an issue exclusively to this AP pack. There have always been assets that don't fade into fog for as long as I can remember playing this sim for, both with, and without the AP weather pack.
Sadly the dark objects appearing in fog is a core issue, nothing AP can do about that. I believe the night time fog in QD is being investigated though
Rain (haven’t checked snow yet) effects (drops obviously) are not visible in external views. Just me on this specific scenario or is this a wider bug?
Looking at RWEPro after the update there’s not a huge amount left. The rain opacity effects box has gone completely. Many of it’s features have been superseded by the AP pack and therefore disabled. Either way the game is looking the best it’s ever looked!
I just updated the Wherry Lines route to use the new weather pack, and also the 150/2 to update the Wherry Lines scenarios, and I'm now getting out of memory errors when I run those scenarios. Non updated scenarios are fine... just the updated ones. Looks like it's gonna be a busy week for AP as there are clearly some bugs to iron out.
That’s very odd. I haven’t had a problem and have been running the 150/2 and 37 on Wherry Lines most of the day. The OOM memory thing isn’t necessarily anything to do with memory, they ought to change that text box to ‘Your game has thrown the toys out of the pram for an unknown reason’. All I can suggest is download them all again and do a reinstall. FWIW I got the extra stocks and branding patches as well.
he done a really nice review on it. I noticed AP removed the link to the YouTube video from the AP Facebook page. Probably because of all the negative comments.
Update on the night time fog situation, still not fixed yet but I did get a response. I was told that it looked like the pack did not install correctly, he told me to reinstall it, and then run an “InstallMe.bat” file and I did however this did not fix the problem. I’ve emailed him back with this info so we’ll have to wait to see what happens.
Silly question to ask, but, there is nothing in the manual that I can see. Is it suggested that we delete v1 of this pack before installing v2, as there seems to be a bit of conflict in the weather patterns, or, isn't that necessary. I can only assume that the Time of Day folder bin files have changed for the seasons, which I have copied and pasted to nearly all of my routes now, German and American as well as British. Cheerz. Steve.
