I think it's hard to brake, not as easy as AFB. Brake is slow, even unable complete stop. How to use it correctly?
The speed control in the 465 only works when dynamic braking is turned on- it's off by default; there's a button under a cover on the left side of the dash. And then it only kicks in when the throttle is in Notch 4. Now, this is not prototypical; I understand that Southeastern policy is to keep the dynamics (and thus CC) turned off. It appears dynamic braking is prohibited by the Thirty-nine Articles.
I know how to turn on CC, but train still keep running slowly. Can CC stop train? So in real world, 465 is not allowed to CC. Why do TSW made it? It don't work in real. Why do we have no LZB in DB 185?
So we can use it if we want to. Just cuz it's not used in real life doesn't mean they shouldn't simulate it. If you want to use it, use it. If not, don't use it. And the 185 should have lzb, at least the version of skw. Older content typically don't have the newer features since they didn't have the tech back then
I think they use the regenerative braking on the 465 in rl. You can hear it when they stop at stations. We'll the ones that sound like Lamborghini's anyway.
I think you will find most trains in the UK use regenerative brakes, they feed power back into the grid when braking.
The Class 465/9 are still fitted with their original motors and being 30+ years old now they are reaching end-of-life. As far as I understand, using dynamic braking is discouraged to save on motor wear (changing brake pads is easier than swapping out motors). Southeastern are rumoured to be ordering new trains soon anyway to replace the Networkers (staff refer to them as Notworkers nowadays due to their dwindling reliability).
To quote Thomas Cranmer "thou shalt not use thy dynamic brake, lest plague and pestilance shall decend upon thee!"
