I agree. I and others pointed out this " model railway " look on sections of Cajon Pass when it was first released. And you are right that it just needs a little extra effort to get it more realistic. There are other examples of this rather lazy approach to track work around the game. But there are also plenty of examples where the artist spent the time to get it right. This is really a QA matter, as are so many scenery issues.
Issue Summary: Vehicle traffic (cars) drive through each other Platform: PC Game Mode: Timetable Route Name: Cajon Pass Loco Name: F7A Santa Fe Service/Scenario Name + Start Time: M-HOULAC6-05 Manifest from Houston to Los Angeles Step-by-Step Instructions: highway along Victorville track has stopped vehicles; cars drive through each other or are embedded in each other +Screenshots +Video Links
The lack of ballast transition is only exaggerated by the TSW3 lighting which can make some ground textures horrendously impossibly reflective in a manner which exaggerates the difference between them and the ballast and draws the eye to it.
Yep. On some routes the actual track ballast and the terrain ballast texture under them are at least matching and there is a dividing line only when sunlight shines on it. But on Cajon Pass the ballast textures don't match to begin with, so it looks bad either way.
Greetings. I have already encountered a problem several times when descending from the pass - the dynamic brakes are not activated on the tail locomotives, despite the fact that the function "communication with the pushing locomotive" is active for me. As a result, it is impossible to keep the train only by the forces of the head locomotives. Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
Yes it is a flaw from Sherman Hill's SD70ACe that make it to the CJP' SD70ACe since both are technically the same engines with different visual and cosmetics on the outside. I hope someday SD70ACe Banking Comm capabilities receive an update to the CJP ES44C4 standard. Edit I make a video about this issue not too long ago, hope someone from DTG aknowledge it.
This is what i also do when i need more retarding force from the dynamics or when the lead engines formation no longer can handle the sheer weight of the train. XD
Very annoying attitude by DTG, giving broken loco as bundle to new route... It is the same shameful kind of glitches as Clinchfield banking comm by window. BTW ticket submitted with Sd70 dynamics some time ago, closed and still silence...
The fact is that the main locomotive is ES44C4, but I realized that the only way out is to control through the window. Thanks.
Honestly DTG need to rebuilt ALL Modern US Freight content to 1 standard, this mix mash of stuff cant keep happening.
different devs and studios working on different routes and rolling stock, each of which has to be a stand alone product, not dependent on another. so you get core components and basic elements like wheels, trucks, couplers in many variations of size, scale, accuracy, shine, weathering etc.
this was my first run on this route, tried SD40-2, aaand, it was mostly enjoyable... tho sth occured which I was confused about - sometimes, going uphill, at around 25 mph, it seemed as if the lead loco (or other, no idea) momentarily lost power (amp dial showed amps going to zero, and after a couple seconds going back again)... was it the engine momentarily losing power or was it just sth like wheelslip or sth? it wasnt raining or anything (it started raining but only later) any idea what it could have been?
The update of January 21 broke the scoring system for CJP with the introduction of platinum medals. These platinum medals are unobtainable because they require the full points for safety systems, but you can only get partial points at best, and that's if you use the alerter. The update also increased the threshold required for gold medals, which resulted in at least 30 of my gold medals bring reduced to silver. In fact I redid one service that was reduced to silver and even with perfect driving and using the alerter, I was able to get a gold medal but there was not a lot of leeway. There's no way to get a platinum medal. The game also no longer reflects a journey completed to gold because of all my new silver medals. The scoring system does not effect gameplay, but if you are going to include one in your game, then it should work correctly.
now I am trying the other loco, ES44 or sth... cant get rid of traction lock icon... tried teleporting back and forth between locos, didnt help (that icon annoys the hell out of me if I dont get rid of it lol) Edit: thanks to this genius guy: if you want to get rid of the traction lock icon, you have to do this simple (but kinda time consuming) thing: 1. You set up the loco 2. Put automatic brake into Emergency, wait for everything to empty up 3. Move automatic brake into Handle off position and wait around 2mins... you will hear a certain sound when the compressor/brakes are ready to go 4. Release automatic brakes, but keep independent brake on full... wait for the "rear" to charge up, it will get to around 75-ish 5. You can now release independent brake and apply throttle... the "rear" will slowly charge up to 90-ish as before
So I’m in the US at the moment and have spent a few days in Lagstaff AZ- so on the same line as Cajon pass just a few hundred miles further. I can’t wait to come back home and drive this route again but I thought about how much of an opportunity this route could be with a small bit of work. Hear me out: - The first thing that would be necessary is to introduce the substitution of (mainly) the Union Pacific SD70ACe and maybe the Cane creek GEVO (although that one doesn’t have TOD4) since many trains had foreign power units in them (Foreign power units are locos rented from other companies for a short time so you don’t have to shunt around the locos or swap them which consumes much time). The Norfolk and CSX locos are also a possibility but the physics and sounds, as well as the lighting system of them are way different so it could be a little off… -The second thing would be a livery pack for the BNSF GEVO. Now I would need some professional guidance here because I don’t know enough on the difference between all the GEVOs; but are the Warbonnet or heritage II livery ones so different from the one we have in game? Because if not then this would be easy money for DTG and would add a lot of variety into the game just by adding these liveries!
I just purchased this route the other day as I have gotten back into tsw after the microsoft flight sim 2024 disaster and so thought I would get back into trains after a break but on my xbox x series its a stutter fest every 10 seconds or so a micro freeze, is that common? I don’t use quick resume always a fresh reboot and have plenty of storage space.
I very much agree. You could say this about a number of the features in this game, be they practical things or just for fun, they often seem to stop short of making them really work as intended. As for the points, it feels like they are using something automated to calculate these point values and nobody is testing the numbers its spitting out to ensure they are appropriate to the locomotive. DW
Adding platinum medals is fine, but they shouldn't have changed the point threshold for the existing medals. Not nice to find my 'Completed to gold' CJP journey now reduced to a green tick mark. Just my opinion of course.
