Clinchfield is a great route, but the lack of switching services just feels so weird. Preferably with a new locomotive(I know there is a Clinchfield potential locomotive DLC thread buried in here somewhere), but honestly I would be content if they just added switching services with the existing ones.

Sadly, the only way I see Clinchfield getting anything new is if they do a loco DLC for it. I know Matt wants to do a GP7 for it, but the references dont seem to be there atm. Not to mention if it ever did happen the route would probably also get a TOD4 upgrade as well...

Would this route have seen Alco’s at some point. Something like a RS3 would be fantastic.

YES! Alco switchers would be awesome in Clinchfield. That would be really cool for sure.
I'm generally an EMD guy but I do like the RS series of switchers.
I have one of each type on my model railway as private refurbished lease units... shown below just after refurbishing.

    Route : BLR Meridian Subdivision
    Loco : DMCX RS-3 lease unit #5056 with DMCX caboose DMCXTeam-RDK.jpg .

Unfortunately not likely, CRR uses mainly EMD power like GP7s, SD45-2s, and some SW7s.

The only ALCO's the CRR used were 3 leased S-4's. So technically no. Like said above, the CRR was primarily a EMD railroad. (That was the main reason they traded their U36C's for SD45's with the Seaboard Coast Line)

Bummer. But a leased S4 would be cool too. It does note that they were in CRR 'markings'.

This is the only color photo I could find of one. There is no photos of CRR 3039 or 3049

This route needs a gp7 locomotive it's only featured in the train simulator classic version of Clinchfield RR. Even better Alco RS3 RSD-1 which then became the Russian TE1 Chme3

Clinchfield never used any Alco RS3 RSD-1s.

Did they ever own Alco locomotive motives or only EMD locomotives like the GP7? The reason why I mentioned the Alco because it would have been competing against the EMD locomotives

See the comment a few up mentioning the only Alcos they ever used. Clinchfield was always primarily a EMD line in the diesel era. Why they ended up trading their U36Cs for SD45s.
