One of my favourite activities on TSW2 was driving or traveling on the loco hauled Railtours on SEHS, Spawning on foot at Faversham or Gravesend and not knowing what the game would spawn until you saw the train roll in, it was fantastic. So for me the new SEHS is now lacking in that regard. I love the route and the freight and the Steam tour, But I'd love to see the Diesel hauled tours return one day. Anyone else miss them?
Basically special train services that give passengers a tour of the railroad or maybe for special events showing off the locomotive, any sights, getting to a certain destination. And it's usually done by br blue diesel locomotives in the uk so you can enjoy the clag
Sorry, but getting a tour of the railroad is done regularly by regular train, same as sight and destination I do not see the appeal of such disrupting on the tracks
Thats my only down side point on the very enjoyable sehs. Why they didnt include the diesel rail tours?? They were brilliant exactly because you never knew what loco spawned. DTG Alex , maybe you should think about reactivate them by release of the ROG37. My highly recommendation!
It's not something you see on the regular. It's outside of the regular timetable and for special railroad events. Everyone's opinion is going to differ of course
if it was like in the game, that you are driving the old train, then I could see it, but I doubt it it Beside if a train was retired, it is most likely because it is no longer safe, so why take the risk of riding an old train from a wagon
No necessarily because it is no longer safe, but because it is considered "life expired" by the railway, or has been replaced by newer, more modern traction.
You already have old railway for that, why put that on a regular track and crowd the tracks un-necessarily for example, we have West-Sommerset , which I read long ago, that it is a railway for old trains, set in Wales
Thats the point of this thread, to drive the "old" train. And that its not safe anymore is simply not a true fact. They ended their lifespan of daily service yes, but there is also work / checks being done on withdrawn locos / mus if they got handed over into preservation.
Rat7, i remember your comments ending up derail threads a lot in a premature way. If you dont like railtours, thats absolutley fine but please stop spreading wrong facts allover the place.
A railtour is also a good way to see locomotives working at speeds of up to 75mph in their "natural habitat" so to speak, and not stuck at 25mph on preserved lines.
Because in preserved railways they can only run at 25mph and not for long. Some people appreciate railway history and hearing a steam locomotive flying down the line at 60mph or a old diesel opening the taps would be an incredible experience. These locomotives undergo extensive overhauls and safety checks before they're allowed to run. I'd love to go on a steam railtour and experience a steam engine at 60mph which you wouldn't get if they didn't run them. Its a way of respecting and preserving some of our history.
I miss the diesel railtours. They were forgotten with the SEHS TSW3 update, and since then no news. I've asked about it when TSW3 released, but it seems DTG has forgotten about it again. I've lost all hope these railtours will return. Plus, I now know that anything we have in TSW3, may not get preserved into TSW4.
Railtours don't disrupt, they are timetabled the same as any other train. On SEHS it would be slotted in between the other trains on the line and from Gravesend there is loads of time in any given hour between the Javelins and the 700s which only run 2 trains an hour each way (so four trains an hour on that line). Even if it's a busy freight day that means more than enough space to put another single train through Any train with mainline certification is safe enough to run, so it's most likely the case that the train is old and so parts are harder to make, or there are newer faster or more environmentally viable trains, or in the case of pacers they were unable to be adapted for people in wheelchairs etc And most vehicles have a lifespan, for trains it's probably about 45 years With regards to the OP, I would say that the railtours added a bit of colour but as a driving experience they're like freight but on all greens... Very little added to a gameplay experience
I miss the SEHS diesel tours. Only way I can play them is if I run TSW2 and SEHS. I did a steam railtour the other day and ended up with service failure about 15 minutes in using auto fireman. Railtours generate lots of interest given that the traction used is classic and not often seen on the mainlines whether steam or diesel. York railway station always seems busy when a tour is passing through.
I’ve always liked the railtours. Just recently did one in the Class 20 on Cathcart Circle, and it really gives you a whole different perspective of the route. Would love for them to add the Diesel railtours back to SEHS.
You (and many others) made god points in favor of the railtours, and I would like to thank you for all the informations
