Be a bit of an odd choice considering the length of the route? Even if they included the Blackpool South line. Extend it to Wigan, get my hometown involved!!

Some decent rolling stock will make it worthwhile (aslong as it gets utilised) also I don’t see the point in them making 40/50/60 mile routes if they’re going to be subpar quality. (See WCL/EDG/NYT) I much prefer it if devs know what their limits are for quality.

I really hope we get a class 390 with this route

Obviously we don’t know all the details yet. But if it is truly just Blackpool to Preston, even with both Blackpool stations, that is an incredibly boring route. And I don’t just mean distance, I mean it takes about 20 minutes to do this journey and the scenery is just flat. Neither of the stations go particularly close to the seaside either so there’s really nothing to see. Preston would be seriously dead as well, that’s a big station on a busy route. It might be short because it’s someone’s (third party’s) first time doing a route but there must be better options out there than this. And as mentioned by other people, if it’s modern day the stock is also very boring.

It seems a waste, such a short route for an express train where you won't be able to get anywhere near up to speed.

Only if they make a long enough route for it of course.

Not really, any route that can use a 390 properly will likely come with a 390, not much point on putting it on a route where A) we could get northern stock which will have much more layering potential, and B) will be much more fulfilled with other rolling stock. If you get a 390 here you get a truly dead route.

yes, but it will play a part in future routes when it comes to layers. But a WCMLOS is the best idea tbh

Not sure a 390 would stop at any of the intermediary stations between Preston and Blackpool North in real life. My guess would be a 331 and a reliveried 150 (if the Blackpool South branch is included).

Really hope the south branch is included as it’s the more interesting of the two lines (going through Lytham and then last the Pleasure Beach etc).

In order to be even remotely reasonable, it needs to be Preston to both Blackpool North and South with a electric and a diesel type. Just going from Preston to Blackpool North is hardly worth the effort on its own. I hope this is indeed a reality and that both lines are included.

Agreed, the TSC version is a work of art and also freeware hence you can't moan about its length. I would be reticent to pay £30, if that was to be the price if it was just Preston to Blackpool north. However set anytime from the 1950's to the early 1990's it would be a no-brainer, especially with a white striped class 104.

If it's done by the same folk as the TSC version, it'd be cool to see the Ribble Steam Railway / Preston Docks branch there as well (they're included in TSC).

As much as I understand peoples like for BR blue stuff, I just can't deal with the 1st gen dmus driving style.
So i do hope its set when the Pacers and Sprinters were on the scene.

Then again, i would love to have it set in the dual traction modern setting.

I would only consider buying this route if it is pre 90s ideally with the 104 mentioned above.

Well we are all different it would be nice to see a mixture of all eras of traction or as much as possible.

If this route does appear, I'm most intrigued as to what era it will be set in. If modern, the main benefit of that would mean having the Northern TOC license, opening up the door for so many other routes. The Class 319 and an improved Class 150 are the best choices, although a Class 331 and a Class 195 (if they run to Blackpool North/South?) would be good alternatives.

The stock would also nicely layer onto a Liverpool to Manchester Chat Moss route, along with a Northern liveried Class 323. ;)

Agree would love to see a class 319. The traction motors have a great deep noise if done properly, especially when pulling away.

yeah, i feel like dtg and Armstrong Powerhouse should team up permanently for recording sounds for trains for a better product all round

I can't see BML getting any more layers, it's already chaotic as is, and with the rumor of the 700, it's going to be at the very limit of technical requirements.
