Since the 7th March update, the Neutral section feels more like emergency brake application. When hitting the magnets, the brake audio activates and the train drops 3 - 4 mph, before regaining speed. It feels more like this is an error, as before it was perfect and other than the audible clunk, you'd never really know you're on a NS.
Yes, I just noticed that today running service 1R44. Every time I passed one, the speed would drop at least 20 mph before I could recover. I just would putt the throttle back to off, then back up to 4.
I've not had it that bad, but it's certainly dropped from 60 to about 54 - 55, it's a shame, but hopefully it gets corrected quickly
Seems to only happen on going from Edinburgh to Glasgow. It still works fine travelling from Glasgow ti Edinburgh. It is very annoying.
Just happened to me on a run from Glasgow to Edinburgh at the Falkirk NS. went from 100 - 86 before recovering
Even more curiously, it only happens on the first one, later on that service, the Murrayfield one didn't activate the brakes.
Doesn’t make sense at all anymore eh. I’ve had it consistently west bound on both the murrayfield and Falkirk ones, but never eastbound.
Just did the east bound service 1R64 and did not have an issue at either of the neutral sections. As I posted earlier, west bound is another story.
New info: Powered down over the NS heading westbound and no brake application! Looks like it doesn't like you going over while under power. Or not, Falkirk NS didn't apply the brakes under power. I'm confused now
Service 1R06 I experienced brake application eastbound over neutral section between Croy and Falkirk High with the CPBC in the off position. Audible hiss and speed drop of approximately 10-12mph before recovering.
Looking at all the posts, there seems to be no pattern as to whether you get power loss at the neutral sections or not.
Alright, I just ran service 1R23 out of Edinburgh twice to the first neutral section. Both times my train was in throttle 4 when I passed the sign and magnets. The first run brakes applied to 2.3 bar and I just let the train slow and at 25 mph closed the throttle to recover, and once I move the throttle to off, the brakes released. Second run, same thing happened, when crossing the magnets brakes on, this time as soon as brakes came on, closed the throttle then reopened it. Quick recovery and only dropped to around 75 mph from 85 which is about where I was both times.
I've tried various ways of passing the neutral sections and so far: Crossing with CPB in off position (as I always do when crossing natural sections) With any level of power applied with minimum braking ...These all result in a hard brake application. I'm not hearing the VCB trip like it used to, and what is actually happening is equivalent to putting the reverser into neutral at speed; the brakes will apply. It seems that the loss of power at the neutral sections is being simulated as putting the reserver into neutral so the code has gotten crossed at some point. I think that the train is now very close to drivable but this bug ruins it. If the following was fixed I'd be happy to recommend this add-on: Fix the neutral sections 90Mph speed limit over 36 Arch Viaduct (Almond / Newbridge)
Andrew, I would add to your list the out bound stopping points at Haymarket, which did not get updated in the last patch like the in bound ones did.
One of the middle station stopping points is still incorrect for 8 car units. I think it's Linlithgow, but need to run another 8 car west bound to certain
Just ran service 1R43 west, and post today's patch I did not have any issues when in the neutral sections, but the circuit breaker open light did no come on at either one of the sections. Wonder if Rivet has turned this off until they can fix it, or maybe permeantly.
Adding another run, 1R15. On this run both neutral sections worked as expected. The VCB light came on, the train lurched slightly since I had not closed the throttle and no brake application. So who knows, I sure did get that unexpected brake application on earlier runs.
Jasper_Rivet DTG Matt DTG JD Is there any update on this? It's been a while and the issue is still present?
Done some runs this week. I'm reducing the CPBC to neutral and i get a brake application at the start of every neutral section i go over. Returning to Power 1 on the CPBC releases the brakes.
just driven the section, and looks like they turned off that functionality... literally nothing happened... no traction lock, no brake application, the train just went as if nothing was there... anyway, since it doesnt do anything, but for those who would like to pretend... what do I do? do I just turn throttle to zero and after the section apply power?
On modern trains... nothing, it shuts off the MCB as you hit the magnet, changes the supply circuit and re-engages the MCB. That's what the clunk-click noise was. I suspect there was code thinking that instead of seeing it as a NS, it thought the train was shutting down and put on the E-Brake, rathee than allowing it to coast. The driver doesn't have to do anything.
well, before it used to at least momentarily cut power, and it would show in the HUD/miniHUD somehow, but now you dont lose any power, so I guess they just shut it off on this route
they must have changed sth, or shut off the functionality on this route altogether... driven it yesterday and there was literally no effect, no loss of power, brakes, lurching or anything... and I remember even making a thread about this back when it launched cos I momentarily lost power and regained control of throttle only when I got it to off and back again... now the train just continues as if nothing was there... same on the NS between Croy and Falkirk, about 4 miles or so from Falkirk I believe, and there is one also near Haymarket or so, will have to check some day
