Heard of the Harlem traffic jam. Took a M7A doing 60mph and smashed into a stationed M3A. The Harlem Line is broken. Surely this doesn't happen on the real line.

Sadly Harlem seems to have joined the ever increasing pile of broken DLC that we received earnest undertakings it would be fixed, now cast aside to make way for the next batch of broken new content.

  3. Was thinking of picking this up in the sale but after reading about it, it's best leave it be.

I would still consider it. The Locos sound great, and there is some really good gameplay. The runs that have red light issues on PC are almost all cured by spawning on foot and taking over the train rather than spawning in the train itself.

The safety systems work well and fun to interact with. The line also allows more than one train in a block.

The only thing I really don’t like about it is the long 10 mph section at Grand Central terminal. However, I forgive the route for that because it hosts one of my all-time favorite TSW runs:
Train 670 Southeast to GCT at 17:18

Strangely enough, the Harlem red light issues I was experiencing on the PS4 version disappeared when I upgraded to PS5. This was way before the red light "fixes" that were recently announced by DTG. I can't figure it out either.

I would also like to chip in and mention that after playing 75+ services on the Harlem Line and being familiar with it irl, much of what's there is in the right places. My largest complaints would be that the scenery of Grand Central feels very bare-bones, and it lacks the traffic from other lines, especially the ones that run to Connecticut and such.

And you WILL eventually get traffic jams on this route from time to time. But in 90% of the time I experienced, they figure themselves out. The problem with TSW is that the trains request right-of-way on the tracks FAR in advance. So you might be waiting 5 or 10 minutes. There's only been a few incidents I remember where it was completely locked.

Furthermore, this route lacks physical signals, and thus the drivers rely on cab signaling, as it is irl.
However this leads to the game issue where its easy to not notice signal changes whereas the cab signaling systems will prepare you far in advance. You just have to have the safety systems enabled. Once you're reduced down to a restricted 15 MPH speed, the engineer/driver is supposed to 'drive on sight'.
I hope this clears things up a bit!

I agree. I guess I depends which service you play. I have about 160 services combine with steam and Xbox X and is my favorite US route in the game. Has lots of AI and it well represented unlike the dismal NYT route which in my opinion falls right next to LIRR route

You are supposed to follow positive train control keep in mind this happens when you have a deeper move following a local train
