I have the funds to buy 1 more route at the moment and these 2 interest me, they both look pretty good but if you had to choose what would be peoples general concensus?

    Thanks,

    I am on PS5 BTW

If you want quality and a relaxing(ish) slow speed drive, Niddertalbahn.

If you want something with more speed & much less quality, Koblenz.

There are 2 massive feedback threads for both routes, I’d take a look at those and decide.

Personally I would say Niddertalbahn. West Rhine still has a few issues, not least horrible lighting.

Thanks, yes have been looking at the feedback threads which are quite large now.

I must admit there seems to be a lot of great feedback for Niddertalbahn.

Yep, the only problem with Niddertalbahn would be if you don’t like crawler routes, it doesn’t really matter how good of a crawler route it is. It is however so far above the quality of any other DLC, that it’s an experience in itself.

I do think you would get more longevity out of Mainz-Koblenz though, the biggest issues I have with it though is that I’m sure the 103 is just a remodelled 110 with some performance tweaks, it’s very underwhelming. There is then the lighting which is just awful.

I thought that too, especially the sounds. In fact that combined with the lighting and LC issues actually led me to r....d it, will maybe rebuy in a sale.

For the full experience the decision is rather easy: take both

They are both good routes but very different to each other. Niddertalbahn is good if you like a slow (Max speed on route is 60kph) but very detailed passenger route where Linke Rheinstrecke is fast moving with lots of diverse AI traffic. Both routes are beautifully done and very scenic and both have their problems.

Thanks for all the feedback, I am now leaning towards Linke Rheinstrecke with the hope it gets any appropriate patches for lighting etc (but knowing DTG's history on fixes won't hold my breath) :D

I do like routes with more going on.

Definitely Niddertalbahn - an extremely well-made route with something extra every bit of the way. It seriously pushes the TSW into... well... what TSW should be. Even though it is a "slow" single line, that 60 kph with Br628 feels just fine and for 365 that's a top speed. It is not even that empty in terms of trains. If you select morning or evening time, it is fairly busy. I did a timetabled service in the morning to Stockheim and had three meets, which on a single line are far more enjoyable, especially with the mechanical signals.

I prefer the Linke route, but I like the 628, so the fact you can use the 628 on Linke......both lol

Niddertalbahn, without question. It takes "TSW route" to a new level of quality and detail, one never reached before.

Besides, LRS has some serious bugs, which may eventually be patched but haven't been yet.

Worth noting it feels much quicker than other slow routes like West Somerset. The amazing scenery and detailed train as well as the surprisingly high station density and tight timetable significantly increase the sense of speed and action.

Niddertalbahn, without hesitation. The other road is buggy. I just tried to do 2 scenarios and got stuck twice at a red light. One starting from Koblenz, the other arriving there. Raging

Even though I haven't purchased it yet, because I've just been stunned by the latest energy bill, I would personally choose Niddertalbahn over the other, based on everything I've seen.

Seriously, I think DTG need to look at subcontracting the developers to work on every route with them.

OT but you’re not alone. We are still considerably in credit with OVO but they already put up our direct debit and are threatening to do so again, even though we are now entering the period where we use less, certainly gas. Crooked cowboys, the lot of them.

So fire up Niddertalbahn for some well earned escapism.

They already help dtg. Although not all members of tsg, lukas and ed have helped with dtg content in the past and recently. Lukas has been a full time dtg employee for some time now. Maik from tsg has helped with sounds and physics. The whole tsg team are also working on loco dlcs.

Yes, I'm aware, but as you say, not all members of TSG. There must be talent they aren't tapping into. Maybe they've already tried to strike up a more direct collaboration deal, but TSG are happy as they are.

Whatever, TSG are demonstrating where DTG could and should take the simulator.

This is probably the best way to go but Niddertalbahn does add to Linke R in a big way, with extra services that also affect a lot of the services already included with the route with more hold-ups etc., as well as being a great route in itself so aim to get both eventually.

DTG haven’t got enough credit for how good Linke Rheinstrecke is in my opinion and I just can’t get enough of it. Players driving with safety systems turned on may not be having as good a time as me but despite a few issues here and there the route is one of the best DTG have done.

Well, I'm glad you're happy with it, because this is a route I've wanted to see in TSW for ages. But, honestly, based on what I've seen in multiple streams, what should have been a visually spectacular route is just blah.

Check out one of the many cab ride videos on YouTube and you'll see what I mean.

Well it is never going to be as good as a video but I wouldn’t say it was blah. The scenery is very good for a TSW route. It looks better at certain times of day because the lighting doesn’t do it to many favours when it gets washed out with the haze and eye adaptation but that’s a different issue to how good the scenery is. I think many people may expect the other side of the river to be more detailed but that isn’t something that can be easily achieved in TSW but with the limitations of the game they have done a good job.

A lot of the scenery on the side of the river you are driving is excellent. It’s come a long way since the grey/brown buildings of RSN. Some buildings are simple structures with 2D textures, like the churches, but that’s likely because performance has to be protected and even with that there are a few areas where there are some big stutters. So not perfect but still a great route. It has a great timetable and all the trains are good. I certainly feel okay about liking it, despite that not being the done thing to admit on the forum.

Niddertalbahn is excellent, there's nothing left to say that hasn't already been said about how good this route is.

I don't own Mainz for 2 reasons, first was I simply couldn't afford 2 full price routes in the space of a week and Niddertalbahn won hands down. The other is solely the issues reported the safety systems.

Because I've not picked it up already I won't be buying it full price regardless so it will sit on a shelf waiting for bug fixes and a decent sale until it joins my stable.

I totally agree with this and I am thoroughly enjoying Linke Rheinstrecke - I drive with all safety systems on and have had few issues. Yes, there are bugs, but I think it’s a beautiful drive and I can easily see this surpassing DRA as my favorite German route.

Niddertaolbahn. Mainz-Koblenz will come soon with a nice discount and in Niddertalbahn you miss Mainz-Koblenz far less than the other way round.

If you are not a "pro" I recommend Koblenz to have more playable services and more things to do on the road.
Contrary to what is said for a non "pro" the road is very beautiful and very playable, personally no worries on this one.
If you are looking for a very qualitative DLC then it's the Niddertalbahn. that you will need.
Be careful it is short and there will not be much to do on it.
Let's say that if you are looking for quality and beauty it is Niddertalbahn and if you are looking for something to ride for a long time it is Koblenz.

Personally, I have both and it's extremely difficult to choose for me, since I'm not a “pro” driver with all the safety features activated, I would still choose Koblenz for its additional services.

I would add that if you want to cross the train then Koblenz is essential, the other road is in 1 lane!!
