The patch notes only mention New York - Trenton, Acela and Training Centre. Boston - Providence, Harlem Line, Long Island Railroad and M3 was also updated.
The changes listed under the 'Core' section also apply to Boston - Providence, Harlem Line, Long Island Railroad and M3. These are the following: Fixed trains glowing or flickering when in dark stations and tunnels when it is raining. ACSES / ATC Fixes & Improvements Various Improvements and fixes to the ASES and ACSES. Fixed ACSES from showing a negative speed enforcement in non-ACSES territory when active. ACSES now falls back to ATC if both systems are enabled but not in ACSES territory. If ATC is not cut in but ACSES is, ACSES limits to non-active or "error" speed (79mph). Entering ACSES territory no longer triggers a penalty when ACSES is not cut in. Improved handling of alarm resets such as if ATC causes the alarm and then ACSES becomes active system, you couldn't reset the ATC alarm since your Acknowledgement went to the ACSES system. Many updates to systems with variations between ACSES and ASES. Fixed bad behaviour where certain locations on the Trenton route would cause ACSES to fail. Adjusted required brake pipe pressures for "Suppression" state.
Post-Patch 1) Sunnyside yard is still missing OHLE on two tracks 2) The OHLE wires, instead of being below the underpass, it's located above the steel beams of the underpass (this is between Harrison and Newark Penn) after all, OHLE improvements around Harrison and Sunnyside were mentioned in the patch notes.
Did they fix the 64 Trenton version, when it didn't recognize player pressing the acknowledge button causing penalty brake to be applied?
Boston ACS64 door indication on the left screen still saying doors closed when they're open. Also got an overspeed warning & penalty approaching Back Bay when cab signal changed to approach. I was already in suppression, etc. Worked ok before this patch.
Unfortunately that's been there since the og NEC was released. I hoped they’d fix it when this route released but oh well.
This very large patch is certainly very welcome for the improvements it makes to several American passenger routes. And it's a good start to addressing the issues with NYT, which has the makings of a seminal route. But the major problems, such as AI pantographs, NYP clipping and passenger density and, of course, the vacant timetable, remain. We need to make sure that these issues don't disappear under the radar.
.. and is the most vital part of a train simulator! DTG (RSC/RSDL) are in the train sim business for about 15 years... just a thought. The biggest problem they have is setting and keeping standards, and probably constantly losing knowledge due to staff fluctuations.
ACS64 Service 84 Norfolk - Boston South Station Acknowledging ATC still broken and getting penalty brake despite brakes being over suppression and frantic pressing of the alerter button Still being reduced to 45mph 6miles outside Metropark with no traffic ahead showing on map - resulting in late arrival (Northbound) Trenton once again uninstalled. Patch Rating = F-
An alerter acknowledgement isnt complex but yet still broken for the ACS64 on Trenton (yet the Boston Sprinter version works fine)
Lol sheeeeesh!!!!!..Don't worry, they are still proud of this route, I'm pretty sure the reviews on Steam agree "cough"...and there's still about 20+ issues on NY-T that still need to be addressed lol!
Sadly I see Boston still has the tunnel entry flash, and the occasional bit of scenery apparently made entirely out of uranium.
if some parts of this patch failed QA and were not released, then what about the rest of it?! Yikes...
DTG JD Is any of this stuff supposed to fix the pile-up at the end of "Cold as Ice" scenario on Boston Sprinter? To be honest, I have zero confidence in patches that are not specific. Like when someone says "I fixed some stuff" or "I improved some things" without telling what the "stuff" or the "things" are. Reminds me of the old Pilot vs Maintenance Engineer joke: Pilot: Something loose in cockpit. Engineer: Something tightened in cockpit. (More of these here).
Every business has a general level of staff turnover, one high profile guy leaving is something that happens eventually.
can't add or remove the reverser key. the game says I'm in forward, but I never put the key in, and changing it doesn't do anything. this patch seemed to make things worse yikessss
NECNYT is totally broken between Penn and Newark, if you drive without HUD it is impossible to not being penalised there, by safety systems... and DTG use resources to make some easter BS, instead focusing on serious work. Harlem after update allows you to run 50mph into penn... Some Modder on this forum rework THESE pillars in penn in few hours - DTG couldn't do this for years. They lost so much respect among os many users with NECNYT...
You do realize there's separate teams for different things. A signaling team is not responsible for minor artistic details.
You made the comment that instead of fixing signaling, dtg are wasting time doing an Easter project in training center after saying signaling is a mess as if the same team does both. The signaling is not related to art. People responsible for art won't know how signals work is what I'm saying.
The ACS-64 sill won't let you acknowledge signals. And in the ALP-46, I got the same unusual train stop penalty south of Metuchen (heading north toward New York) The difference this time was that resetting ATC and ACSES put it back to normal, before it would just stay stuck in penalty. The signals themselves still seem a bit aggressive. For example, giving you an approach limited ahead of a civil speed restriction to 80 mph. My guess is it should be cab speed 80 ahead of that. Or just an ACSES reduction. Makes for a rough ride.
On HAR it seems the HUD is now displaying ATC or ACSES. It's been a while, but I do believe the HUD previously displayed R, M, L, or N. Why was HAR even included in this patch? The signals worked fine, and so did the route overall besides some pathing/dispatch issues, which I am willing to say were probably not fixed by this patch either. I do agree that the patch notes are fairly weak and could be more detailed. It's hard to know if something like this display change was intentional or not, or what the rationale was, if in fact it was done on purpose. I feel like it was better before, but it will surely be stuck like this now indefinitely.
Same findings here. Did you also try the Boston 64? Recently, somebody recommended it here. I've tried it back then, but felt I get a bit different in-cab signals. As for the speed reduction - do you have a keyboard at hand? Ctrl-enter. I turn my ATC / ACSES off until it starts working again. Pretty much like a small child.
I play almost exclusively using Journey mode so the option to sub in isnt available. I also expect to be able to drive as realistically as possible so whilst the work around of turning ATC off and back on again might work it is not something I am prepared to do as it would affect my enjoyment and immersion greatly. I have plenty of other means of entertainment (both inside TSW3 & out of it) that I am not prepared to compromise. Easier to uninstall.
I also experienced a Unreal engine crash after the patch, it was on Cajon pass. Not sure if it's related to the latest patch though since I haven't played TSW3 long enough to tell, just thought I would put it out there.
How many services using the 64 is in your journey? There's almost none in mine, everything is the Amfleet cab car. I feel you with the realism, I try to do so as well. Here I feel we got two choices: 1. Mine to do a non-realistic workaround, because I am in the mood to play trains, 2. Yours playing different games
Oh god I hope this hasn't messed up harlem line aswell... one of my favourite routes and for the most part since the signalling update there's been no issues.
It is sooo frustrating how things never work as expected. I tried the 64 service #137 on Trenton. Tha game crashed 4 times in a row during loading. Went to Harlem, tried train 516 for the M7 and OMG - there was an armageddon. Sooo many stuck train in the opposite direction resulting in me getting stuck with an M3 in my way near 125th.
It continues to blow my mind how DTG fixing things breaks other stuff. This game cannot have been built very well if it’s so fragile. Bizarre.
After driving a couple of services in both directions my impression is that this route is still unplayable with atc and acses activated. It's been a month and a half since it was released so I don't really understand what they've been doing to release the patch in this condition.
Hate to bring up the forbidden subject and go a little off topic, but if only the editor wasn’t silently cancelled a few years ago, so that at least the community could fix half these issues ourselves. It’s baffling with such little modding capabilities we actually have (with cooked files and no official support) - how much the modding community can and has accomplished. I mention this mostly because of this particular mod: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...-york-trenton-smaller-ny-penn-station-pillars made by Cygnific. There’s probably still some clipping in some areas with this mod, but it’s still a good improvement over the default. This is my question: If an unofficial mod, can reduce some the clipping issues, why is it so hard for DTG to do it with official tools? Heck, maybe we'd have a busy timetable by now from the most experienced modders if they had the ability to. I understand that moving around track and adjusting platform sizes is a big, probably impossible task by now, but even just making the pillars smaller would be an okay start rather than doing nothing at all. As a TSW player for years now, Trenton is seriously high on the list for some of the biggest embarrassments so far tbh. It's unfortunate that this is such a major corridor for the USA and we'll never see this particular section between New York and Trenton again. I really hope this Trenton patch we just got is the first of many more because it's really not acceptable to wait over a month just for the bare minimum. I'm not even talking about the timetable in this paragraph, I know that's going to take months to get perfect, but like even the OHLE improvements that were mentioned in the patch notes aren't complete, sunnyside is still missing it in some places.
As a further update, I just got an "S" indication on ATC on Acela #2151 entering Providence. No doubt this is in relation to the red signal at the end of the platform at Providence. I have never seen an "S" on BPE before, but besides that, it enforces a penalty brake application so that you stop just at the beginning of the platform, which completes the objective but gives low AP because you are so far from the stop marker. I'm not sure if the patch helped the signals in NYT or not, but the signals on both HAR and BPE were adversely affected. We still don't even know, and will probably never know, why the patch was applied to these routes in the first place, when NYT has all the big problems. As an aside, although it provides a good illustration of how a patch can actually make things worse, this shouldn't happen in the first place because the signal shouldn't be red for a through service; this is really just another variation of the dispatch beyond conundrum. Also why is the final destination of all Acela services Providence? What a sorry state of affairs with the US passenger routes.
