Had a normal timetable run on LGV come up last night with the randomiser. Of course you don’t get any of the help regards setting up the cab or when and how to change from LGV mode to DC. So just wondered does it actually affect the running of the train if you don’t switch power modes or is it an entirely cosmetic exercise, so far as the game is concerned?
I believe it's simulated properly (the train is more powerful under AC) and won't draw power if it's in the wrong mode so once you exit the section you'll probably coast to a halt. Better to refresh yourself with the tutorial - it's not too complex a process.
I can confirm this is the case. I've also experienced something similar in a Talent2 service where I'm supposed to end up on a siding that has no OHLE. You need to maintain inertia from when you had power until you reach the target spot, because the lack of OHLE means no power.
Appreciate the response. I'll resume the run later on. I know the transition takes place around about where you dive under the tunnel on the outskirts of Marseille. Should be interesting!
Every service I've ran has had a go via marker at the transition point. So unless you're running completely no HUD you'll know where to change over
https://media.dovetailgames.com/Train Sim World 2 LGV Méditerranée Driver's Manual EN.pdf Page 39-40. There will be signage indicating upcoming power changeover point, what the supply is changing to and when the rear of the train has passed the changeover section so you can raise the pantograph. Yep, the REV sign is inside the tunnel.
The game has an automatic pop up that will tell you when you need to change the power mode. And yes, you need to do it or the train will lose power. It is not optional.
Just to confirm, that all worked perfectly. I got the prompt, remembered the sequence and finished the run. It's not a bad little route, apart from the short length and lack of any other SNCF stock or traction. It's a shame DTG haven't done more from France really, whether TGV/LGV or classic routes and traction.
I've advocated for a while (or at least wanted) DTG should make the route between Avignon and Lyon like there is in Train Simulator. The full run is very fun and pretty (certainly prettier than the terrible scenery in the TSW version). A TSW version would be even better if it came with a TGV Reseau.
Do you mean my Appenweier Kehl Grenze Strasbourg Ville route suggestion? I have suggested that since 2021. What happened was that they saw my TSW 2 post and then make it for TSC
Ive always wanted Saint-Raphael to Nice along the French Riveria. At 75km with 2 intermediate stops at Cannes & Antibes for the TGV with a run time of less than an hour and something like 20 stations in total, with stunning views of the med, it ought to be very doable in TSW.
The route that took my fancy after watching a YT clip, not in France but just next door on the Italian Riviera - the old classic line along the coast from San Remo, sadly now closed. So far as France is concerned, something like Rouen to Calais via Boulogne set in the early 80’s pre Chunnel and including the Maritme stations too. There was something about getting off the ferry from Dover at Calais and jumping on the 2000 overnight to Basel that Eurostar can never quite equal.
