Why is this not reported more often, if at all.
Rain only falls on the windows of the front carriage, the rest are completely untouched

I think it is just a case of distance. If you put the camera on the second carriage for a bit, then only that one would become wet. If you moved the camera far enough from the train, the rain would be removed from it. It's a case of looks versus performance unfortunately.

I don’t tend to be looking out of the passenger windows when I am driving a train!

    Ok…
    That’s great for you,
But for people who do look outside and see rain on only one carriage, it brakes immersion

I do agree, I would like to see it across all carriages, but I don't see a fix for it at all unfortunately. PC players probably have an engine ini fix, but I suspect the performance hit would be too great. Perhaps a simplified rain water effect can be added to carriages further away? Maybe this could help performance!

I believe it’s a performance issue thing, it can get a bit noticeable like shadows but theirs not much point in animating rain drops on windows of the back of 11 car unit when you’re in the cab. If you move either the camera or the player to that point it will start to take effect their and lose effect in the previous area.

As aeronautic237 alludes to, the issue here is one of saving processor power by not tracking rainfall in places not being "used" right now
A fix to this would be a random rainfall system for the windows as soon as a camera pops into a space (ie, when you walk into a carriage the windows get a bucket of water over them and then the normal rainfall system takes over)
This would of course take dev time to implement, and CPU time to actuate so you can expect a hit on the old processor when going from one view to the next

I was just trying to say in a light hearted way that it isn’t something that I have noticed and it’s not something that breaks the immersion for me!
