This route causes the Series X to dip below 40fps at some points, I'm frankly shocked it runs on last gen systems at all, given how much density and variety they crammed into it.

I think the trees movement caused by the wind is the main issue. It's a nice feature since TSW1, but on Niddertalbahn, even with zero wind almost all trees still moves. I love the route, but I have to reduce the graphic settings every time I play it. I don't think it was tested enough on consoles, mid and low end PC builds.

Guessing you play in 1080p mode?
In 4k mode, I've independently verified it with my monitor's FPS meter, and via the capture to my PC as well. It absolutely tanks on the section outside Bad Vilbel. It's not surprising with how dense the foliage is. VRR makes it at least a tolerable experience though, and for the most part the route avoids such low dips, and that density makes SO MUCH of a difference to the visuals..
