Just done some digging on it and the font height seems "OK", but the font width is too wide, the IRL one is much more compressed
    [IMG]

Personally I would have preferred the old segmented display with the weird triangles....

Both of the above are 158/8 so presumably could have been around at the time of the route

Yeah I think the one we have been shown is some sort of default setting they have, the big scrolling PIS seems to be coming on a lot of rolling stock that doesn’t have it IRL.

Not sure on that. Would be a shame if that's the case as basically every train in the future would be "off". One wonders if a DTG tech might be able to look at it and do it more closely to RL...
Of course finding source material is going to be difficult because of LED refresh rate issues. but going up there with a higher frame rate camera would solve that

I’ve got to believe it’s that, as opposed to them going out of their way to make an incorrect PIS.

    158’s aren’t exactly uncommon.

My money is on something to do with Licensing. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if PIS screen, or rather, their software requires different or extra Licensing agreements?.

Thanks for the heads up re Balkan DLC. Will be interesting to see how it compares to ProMods, which no doubt will require another update to keep pace! Decisions, decisions as I really quite fancy the new TSC Japanese route and Rio Grande Southern is simmering on my purchasometer, though the latter probably a sale. I have to honestly ask myself how many times I can go between Leicester, Nottingham or Derby before it gets relegated to a dice throw if I use the randomiser.

but interior pis boards are more often accurate than not in comparison to exterior ones so i don’t understand the problem really

not sure if anyone’s noticed but the pis looks pretty identical to the 323s, which of course is completely wrong

Again, I don't know, I'm just making assumptions. I've heard of cases before where the licence for one thing is granted, but tech within that item isn't coveted. I guess it all depends.

As for the 323 looking interior one, that's simple, why make a new one than only a handful of people will see, when you can save time and use an existing one?

This route is very enjoyable and leaving me wanting more but is crying out for an extension up to Sheffield and the Class 222. I think people will love it.

Yeah, it does look a lot like they basically did ctrl + c then ctrl + v for the PIS here. I can see why on the interior, as the PIS systems used on the inside is pretty much identical for the 323 and 158, but as most of us know, the destination display on the front of the 158 looks VERY different. I really hope it can be fixed for release, but given we're less of a week away, I doubt it. And I'm not convinced it'll be changed post release, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

I’m not sure if any of dlc releases have accurate onboard PIS (exterior) since I’ve noticed the class 465 has changed at least 3 times. There seems to be this “simple” small font text on all of them that have it. (Provided its working…)

Was watching the ATS stream last night and Alan was saying he thinks the model of the 158 is pretty good. I’m going to reserve judgement before smashing the preorder button, we’ve been here before and been left disappointed! I really hope that Skyhook have smashed it out the park with this one, I think the 3rd Party devs have the potential to push the standard of the game up markedly of what they produce is of high standards. I’d certainly say that in TSC, ATS and Just Trains have produced content that is much better than much of DTG’s work, let’s hope it’s the same in TSW!

    no?

someone was commenting on how clean it looked in the game, so I was pointing out that you do actually get very clean examples in real life too as well as dirty. :)

Indeed. However as Class156 above stated, there is just a nagging doubt about the whole thing that is preventing me from taking the plunge. Maybe after tomorrow’s stream, we shall see.

For those worrying about incorrect PIS, I wouldn't worry too much, I mean, it hardly works on AI trains anyway, unless this route is an exception!

This was the 2019 timetable for the mainline this was just as EMR took over but no changes were made to the timetable at this point in the transition

Well, we're nearly there. I'm going to watch the stream later and hopefully it's not all moaning.

I hope if we spot something it's not glossed over

As if they will do that. DTG are always so honest, and always point out those very rare flaws, and make sure that they get fixed! [Sarcasm]

To be fair, I'd say this is mostly constructive feedback from passionate players rather than just general moaning - everyone wants TSW to be as best as it can, though at times it can be frustrating. :D

    Yep!
I really want DTG to make this game/sim something very special, and succeed in doing that.
I find it so frustrating with there we really care attitude, with there promises that are then broken!
If they were to just spend time and fix things, then I would be happy. There are some really great looking routes, and it's a utter shame that they are spoilt by bugs that should have been seen in testing.
I am seriously looking forwards to this new route. But once again I don't have high hopes for it. Hopefully I will be proven wrong?

Yeah it can really be frustating. When the Harlem Line was released I was astonished by the poor handling of the M7A. I took some time to measure its acceleration and braking performance, which were (and still are) really wrong (based on the manufacturer specifications). The M7A, which is a totally average commuter train performance-wise, behaves like some of the best subway trains in the world. "Simulator" you said ? :D I shared it on the forums where some members confirmed this bad handling, and with DTG. All I got was something like "thanks we'll investigate". I was hopeful at the time but I did never receive any update nor any further anwser. There was so much slack on the Harlem Line schedules that tuning the M7A to be true-to-life would maybe not have been too much of a hassle. Nevermind, I got my refund on this route. It's a shame as I like NYC trains.

The only "fresh" DLC I've bought for a long time is the lovely Niddertalbahn. So yeah it is not "moaning" when it comes to some of the main features of driving a train :D

I hope this Midland Mainline will be up to the expectations. It seems to be on good tracks !

Yaaay Ratcliffe Power Station is inaccessable for players. Great job, Skyhook, cutting out the single interesting piece of the entire route. This release is already a bust, please vote with your wallets and abstain from spending your hard earned money on this piece of junk.

EDIT: I'm only at the first 20 minutes of the stream but I am already noticing so many bugs that will likely never get fixed:

    - guard's panel 'Close door' and 'Signal' buttons are labeled the wrong way round (they acknowledge this in the stream, to their credit)
    - HUD indicates track Vmax rather than locomotive Vmax
    - the 10 mph speed limit they keep harping on about is labeled with a 15 mph speed board
    - the speed reductions do not align with the board placements at any point

Must say, it looks like Skyhook have done a very good job going by the live review. I really love the sound of that 158.
It's nice to see that they have also future proofed the route for (hopefully) route expansions and more loco dlc's.
I so hope that they do produce more dlc's

I was quite impressed with this route following the preview. Worth £30 of my money and makes WCL look even more amateurish. Well done Skyhook, it looks amazing.

well if you listened correctly you’d hear that it’s all modelled for future proofing so there’s a higher chance of it happening one day

Yeah this route seems promising. Good job !

However I noticed the AWS and deadman's pedal functions are bound to the same key. Why ? This is the same on some other trains in TSW, but they are not the same functions at all and should not be activated together. Is that because of a cross-compatibility with consoles or something ?

I agree it is disappointing it isn't accessible, at the moment but they have inferred that that could change. It is hardly a reason to call the route a piece of junk, which frankly is rude and very hyperbolic. I thought overall the route and trains are very well modelled.

Instead of telling people what to spend THEIR money on why not just close the stream and not buy it?
