What loco has the most functionality in terms of actual functioning buttons, MFD, PIS etc at the moment?
What exactly are you looking for? An open question like this will lead to nothing healthy: everyone will post whatever loco they fancy. How do you compare a US Freight loco like the CJP ES44C4 against a German passenger loco like the ICE403? It's impossible to say one is "more functional" than the other, when they're apples and oranges.
Well not really, he just asked what train has the most functionality. It’s not going to matter what kind of train it is.
Upcoming class 158 in midland mainline has lots of buttons and switches and cool functions including wheelslip/slide protection and automatic sanders and the ability to use guards panels on train
Depends if you mean buttons to press in the cab or functional in regards to a more involved driving experience. If it’s the former, any modern German stock tends of have plenty to press in the cab, if it’s the latter, then I’d say the BR Class 101. It’s gear change and lapped brakes make for a highly engaging drive!
So, if you judge by PIS, then US freight locos are bad, and German passenger locos are great. But US freight have 3 separate braking systems you can control, banking ability, ability to control lights of the connected locos, and a working handbrake! Some even have a functional cold start sequence! So, do they win the "most functional" title?
The IOW22 Class 484 has quite a lot of features. I think it even was the first train in TSW to have working guard panels.
maybe the scotrail class 385 because of the on board computer which has quite a bit of functionality.
'Trains with the most number of buttons, that you can press' award goes to :- In UK we have - IOW 2022 & 385 on Edinburgh to Glasgow. Another honorable mention is Class 20. ( I suppose a lot of people don't even know that it has an interactive battery box in the underframe and a fuse panel in the cab ) along with other AB / VB stuff, cutouts for various equipment etc. In Germany, we have DB / Press BR 155 holding the title. 232, 363, 112, 103, and 110 also have a lot of buttons that you can play with... In US, we have a lot of locos that have comparable no. of functioning buttons.
Apologies, whatever that twin-hood diesel shunter with a cab in the middle is... I'm referring to that. Can't remember it at the moment.
Not sure if you want to compare the quality of implementation to the real counterpart or if you just want to know the loco with most features. So here my opinion about uk : Loco with most features for driving & assistance simulation - Class 37: - functional dual brake system - vacuum relay chamber - dsd system - aws system - exhauster isolation for air braked trains - traction cutout selector for isolating traction motors on bogies - slave unit isolation / activation (for mu working) - brake timing selector - compressor turn over for vacuum braked conditions - ROG37 with dellner adapter and three step converter unit. I really do think most BR diesels for tsw are on a very high quality level, but the 37 has traction cutout, which is for example not modeled on the tsw 47. Yes those locos were created in a different era, where dtg cared about detail and wasnt ran out if time constantly. Uk EMU with most features: Class 395 & 387, not gonna list up all features, but what makes them special: - AC / DC Power Operation Uk DMU with most features: Class 101 / 166: - local start & stop procedure supported from outside the vehicles. (Not included on the 150 for example...) Its really difficult to judge and depends on what you want to simulate (driving experience, cold & dark start up, assistance....). For example the 43 has the emergency buckeye bar possible to mount on the open hatch. Together with an mki bg coach you will be able to pull a hst with any loco. On the google drive in the mp15 documentations thread you can download the full 300 Page drivers documentation of the class 377. (The parts catalog of the class 90 brel documentation is about 5000 pages. Not included the full drawing set.) Currently tsw can deliver a phenomenal driving experience, even with only implementing probably less than 1% of all the isol.cocks & valves and real train features. My own opinion considering my real life experience with trains is, that they are currently on a good way with the rolling stock. Detailed enough for driving and messing in a yard + assisting, and still in a way economical for their businesscase.
Honorable mention goes out to the Bakerloo 72 stock! The amount of clickable buttons in the cab is incredible, and many of them are working perfectly.
Exactly this. I want to know what loco is recreated the most true to life in all of its functionality. So it doesn't matter what country it's from, or if it's passenger or freight, EMU or DMU. Thank you for your mentions!
I actually really like the 72 stock, I play with it a lot. Also because I used to visit London often and take that line. I also love the old 38 stock.
Thanks! As a European I quite like the US freight trains, especially the older ones. I find some features in older German content (TSW/TSW2) lacking, personally I believe the UK trains are the most detailed in general in terms of functionality.
I think this has been said but the old BR diesels are all very high quality recreations of the real things.
I'm not just judging by things like PIS and crossing off US trains. I'm looking for most true to life recreations. So origin doesn't matter, just what locomotive is the most detailed out there.
