As I recently created a new profile in TSW3 I started replaying the West Somerset Railway to complete the achievements.
    What did I find...
The ROG doing tourist passenger services.

But It’s the first time for me seeing the tvl class 37 on WSR. Do you know which locomotives are able to drive on WSR?

I think all the old British Rail diesels appear. As well as the 101 DMU. But they are from earlier routes and DLC’s like TVL and NTP.

That sounds quite interesting. Maybe the route will be picked up in the next sale :)

I honestly don't know why some people don't like this route?
The 101 is seriously fun to drive. Trying to maintain 24-25mph going down hill with out stopping, is proper fun. Especially after a few beers!

I wish the sidings and signals were unlocked so you could shunt in the yards. A proper ‘free roam’ mode on this route would be much appreciated.

Am I right with the assumption that the route is like an uk heritage Niddertalbahn?

Yes it's a heritage railway, which sadly is missing it's steam content!

Yeah, but there’s still the possibility of scenario planner and Spirit of steam or the upcoming Peak forest route

It’s slower than Niddertalbahn, has less stations and the scenery isn’t as good outside the stations (except once it reaches the seashore). I really enjoy the route, but it’s not comparable to Niddertalbahn at all. Very different experiences, WSR certainly demands more patience. Maybe a nice music album or TV show is recommended as a companion during the ride ;)

Yes it is a very slow route. The only music that I can think of that would suite it, is the relaxing stuff used for Tai-Chi, meditation and yoga. Though be careful, otherwise you may fall asleep!
Warning! This route is not a Rammstein style route!

For that you‘d probably need the Br 612 at full speed :)

I tend to have some 70s,80s or 90s stuff which gets me through the drive without boredom whilst also bringing back some good memories!

The unloading is animated, so it actually moves.

I‘ve just looked through the TSW wiki page of the route, and noticed that the Class 52 can also be driven on the route (although it’s the dlc for the route, idk if the one from diesel legends works on it)

Here i made a demonstration Scenario of Assisting the HST with a ROG 37 on WSR (The coupler has no chain, so i used the marcroft jna + OOC Brakedown vehicle):

DTG, please dont forget the reservoir hoses coupled from the locos!, The Main Reservoir of the assisted train will dry out this way when hauling dead. Unfortunately i cant use the iso c(o)cks for making the setup, so it really would help to not just connect the brake hoses, but also the yellow RM Equalizing hose.

    Wagon to Wagon (ok):

Loco to Wagon ( MR hose not connected):
    TSW3_Meridian_1681577244_00.png

Current walkaround: Just let the engine of the assisted train running for compressor air.

For building individual consists, West Somerset Railway is the perfect route for doing that. You can use the Manual section of Washford to create whatever combinations a player wants to try.

Do you use the Unofficial Editor to create them?

No thats all made with currenty TSW + liveries of the designer. Unfortunately its time consuming because there is no consist editor.

    - For Consist tests with 3 Trains, spawn at washford direction Minehead. Second Train at Watchet ending at washford, 3. Train at doniford ending at washford. Just let them arrive in a delay of 5min. (This section of wsr is inside 1 Signal block)

    -
For Consist Tests with 5 Trains, spawn at washford direction bishops lydeard. The other Trains can start from Blue anchor, Duster, and finally minhead siding 1 &2. All trains need to have washford as an end destination. Important here, whenever the a.i train pass or start at blue anchor into the signal section, the player has to be in the washford yard (same for the coming a.i trains).

As soon the a.i trains reach their end destinations at washford their taskmenu is empty and you can shunt dem around into the yard and make your tests.

Ah yes the famous brakedown support wagon, for when your brakes have failed, which would be a particular problem on WSR

I hadn't realized that any type of coupling/uncoupling is possible with TSW's so-called "Scenario Planner". I'll have to experiment with that!

Also there's the BR Class 52. A bargain at £12 for a single loco DLC. Not!
