Midland Mainline - Leicester To Derby & Nottingham

I've worked in the care industry for over 20 years and I still make mistakes or miss things.

 

I'm from Leicester as well and I wonder if it's the Mastery reward.

 

Not surprised so only the East Midlands HST will be available then

 

Only been working on it for about a year (or feels like it). I've long since learned that what DTG say and what they do are two very different things.

 

Wasn’t this predicted when they were dragging their feet with it a year ago?

I was never under the impression we’d get the GWE HST LD ready before a new paid version came.

 

Didn't see any locos at the Leicester depot compared to quite a number at Derby. Not sure if they could legitimately have realistic looking stock at Leicester. As far as I remember it's mostly battered old class 56 and a few years back, some 58s and 60s. Maybe have the odd 37 and 57.

Might swing by and see what's currently around.

I'm not going to spoil anything but have a drive with the Class 158 during wet/poor adhesion conditions. It's really 'fun' to drive (depending on how good you are at controlling it) and its engine sounds sound awesome too, when it tries to gain traction

I haven't stopped driving the thing!

 

Will the yard at Toton be represented?

 

Great, look forward to trying it out tonight. Looking forward to seeing the route on my system, I do find the streams don't always make the routes look the best.

One thing I’ve noticed is that there is quite a bit of detail at ground level, however TSW’s poor grass rendering distance makes it look really plain until you’re up close.

Entirely up to you.

My advise is to watch livestreams, videos and look out for reviews beforehand. When actually playing it, I found it really helpful to not automatically look out for things which don’t look quite right, or to intentionally compare it to other releases. Especially if it’s your first time playing the route on TSW.

The main enjoyment comes out when actually driving I find. The 158 is really nice to drive and night time driving is great too. Quite a bit of ambient lighting all along the route, so you aren’t driving like there’s a permanent power-cut everywhere

Also seen the double green. Do these things not get tested anymore or is it that DTG do not hire enthusiasts anymore

Come on, please, it's been mentioned is being/ has been investigated.

Of course they test it, but something like that isn't game breaking so will be further down the list of fixes that say, the missing freight service.

 

These issues have only been spotted with in an hour of release? Opposed to how much testing?

 

It's already been explained but dtg can't fix everything before release. Even if they had all the time in the world, there will always be bugs

The double green bug has already been reported, as said earlier in the thread. Its fix didn't make it to release unfortunately so it'll be fixed in an upcoming patch.

Again, a lot of things are spotted whilst testing, its just that they don't always make release as there are other things which can take its priority.

 

Brilliant! Loving the route! The 158 is wonderful to drive.

 

Unfortunately having multiple bugs on release has been a thing for a long long time, and what makes it worse is that they don’t always get fixed.

I appreciate you’re enthusiastic about this DLC since you’ve put your own work in, for me it’s not necessarily this DLC that’s the issue. It’s just another DLC in a never ending flow of bugged content, which we are now also paying more for.

I’m not looking for perfection, but what I am looking for is not to have content that is obviously flawed.

 

Just had a game crash while in the HST a mile outside Nottingham. Error reported.

 

A few issues I noticed on XSX:

* Z-fighting (flickering) on the GSM-R module, the 'Sander' text also flickers in 158
* Z-fighting (flickering) on the HST coaches, the windshield wiper pictograms also flickers
* In the 158 the door interlock lamp is either always on or always off
* In the 158 the fault lamp test does nothing (shouldn't it illuminate when you press it?), also there's no animation when you press it
* In the 158 shouldn't the sander button illuminate when you press it? (just like how it illuminates when automatic sanding is happening)
* In the 158 the DSD pedal doesn't have an animation/can't press it down manually (but still works)
* In the 158 the windshield wiper doesn't wipe away the rain/snow in one end, while it works as intended on the other
* In the 158 tutorial the voice over is quiet, while in the HST tutorial it's super loud
* In the ‘Night Train’ scenario you have about 0.5 seconds to read the final message before the scenario ends
* The low resolution cloud reflection on the 158 windscreen/windows is super ugly, please remove it
* Mastery also seems broken, I completed Tier 2, yet I don't have a mastery layer to enable
* In the HST the DSD pedal isn't mapped to a button on the controller (hitting Q on a keyboard does work)

 

I'm surprised the first stopping service at Syston is after 12pm, seems odd that it's so late?

 

Yeah they should be an hourly service from 06:30am (with 2 services within 10 minutes of each other at 06:30).

 

Apologies if this has been highlighted previously. I haven't noticed any stop markers for the 158 at Beeston and Attenborough. Is this realistic or has Skyhook left out an important platform feature by mistake?

 

I take it, what you see is what you get then? Why is this simulator so hard to populate with the relevant services? London Commuter was ok, why is this so... Dead?

 

Considering timetable mode is a key element of the sim and making it immersive why on earth are services being left out? The only hope is they are planning maybe another Sprinter to layer in.

You would think after the disappointment over SOS and NYT someone would have made sure the timetable was as busy and accurate as possible!

 

Also quite specific this one but I have noticed if your riding "cab view" i.e. external camera the AWS isn't audible for green signals but will play when you come across caution/adverse

 

We don't know what caused the problem. Coding and programming is a dark art. One change here could inexplicably change something unrelated over there.

It was mentioned on this thread day ago, and i'm sure LM said it had been picked even earlier. It's not game breaking so it goes on the list.
It may be immersion breaking, but that doesn't mater if the product functions.

Seems rather petty.

Fingers crossed a 156 or 153 would be ideal!

 

Well the amount of people who come on here ranting and are never buying another DLC, then a couple of months later coming on here ranting about the latest DLC they have bought, nothing would be surprising.

I must admit I am disappointed to here the timetable seems to not be realistic, it won't make me cancel my order but if it is the same state in a few months it will ensure that their next release will be scrutinised before hand. Hopefully some DLC is planned, would love a 156 they are my favourite Sprinters.

 

i had a game crash doing the non stop HST run in the journey from derby to Leicester. it crashed on me 2 miles out from Leicester. i reported it. one other thing i have noticed no passenger get on the HST services and hardly get on the 158 services even in the early morning rush hours. i play on the PS 5

 

Passengers are allergic to trains on many routes anyway I’m not sure it’s gonna change soon

 

I’ve found incorrect speed signage, TPWS grids are MAD keen, 158 wiper doesn’t wipe the rain away, passengers blocking cab access…all from 20 minutes of gameplay. Shame really.

 

If I refund a £30 purchase for something that I was very interested in, but has now shown to fall way below what Id expect of a tsw3 release. Im petty?

 

idk if u guys would agree with me but i think its time that dovetail start delaying Releases if issues come up just before Release i for one are so sick of the lack of getting things right before release we want value for money $56 australian for a DLC that has many issues is wrong and as a Livestreamer even worse that i have to keep talking about them in the livestreaming i do for TSW as a long time OG player i think its time for the delay system to come in and would not care for delays as i want a pure smooth DLC like the 2019 era

 

And having just had a go of the HST, I can’t for the life of me find where to activate the AWS and the switches for the DRA and DSD also appear back to front. They show isolated when active.

 

It’s possible they didn’t want to mix 156 & 158 diagrams, I’m not 100% on what the hourly service would be ran by, but given that EMT run their 156 & 158 diagrams fairly fast & loose, I wouldn’t see an issue with the 158 running it in game.

Timetables seem to be falling down the priority list if the recent DLC’s are anything to go by, but I’d of thought the anticipation of a 158 would warrant the extra work.

I sort of see the logic in making the 158’s run mainly express services, since that is the IRL preference. That being said, If EMT/EMR don’t have enough available stock of either class, then they would substitute with the other, so it would of been nice to see that logic too.
