Matt is one of the reasons I stick with this game. It's his passion and his explanations when issues arise that keeps me a customer.

Am I happy about all the outstanding issues? - No. However, whatever gripes we all have with the game, I think we all should refrain from making negative comments about any DTG staff member. I sure if Matt could instantly fix all the issues he would!

The pitchfork welding doom squad are trying to take over the world I swear, convinced if they manage to successfully swamp the forum, they will see that as a win and just scale everything up for a world domination bid.........

I still can't really figure out if Focus purchasing DTG is a good or a bad thing, from a customers perspective. I guess it has potential upsides, but also potential downsides, depending on Focus intentions. They made a purchase and they'll want to see profits. No clue what strategy they'll use to achieve that goal.

I don’t and what a stupid and foolish comment. You should be banned from this forum.

I first met Matt, many years ago at an exhibition (in Birmingham, I think.) It was during the time of both our interest in the arrival of MSTS. During our discussion he asked if I had purchased a few of the available routes. When I told him the routes I didn’t have, he promptly proceeded to hand to me free copies for me to take away and add to the game. There was no need for him to that and it was very kind and thoughtful gesture that was greatly received and fully appreciated, and something obviously, I have never forgotten!

Matt has given his all to DTG, from the position he holds to adding his expertise to all the streams he has appeared on and all the valuable tutorials he has uploaded on You Tube.

Matt, please ignore this comment fanta1682002, you are much loved in the Train Sim community whether it be TSW or TSC and long may you continue to be involved with us all., both for DTG and your contributions to YT and these forums.

No joy in complaining at all. Spent hundreds of pounds on DLC which breaks wish DTG would improve it but see little chance of it. The fact remains people are unhappy, saying they shouldn't be and its boring isnt fair but on the other hand saying people shouldn't enjoy it because of its issues isn't fair either. If people dont say anything though then nothing will change.

The insistence from some people that TSW is both a huge failure and a massive cash cow at the same time is always fun to read.

Anyway, I played LGV Med in honour of the takeover and it was quite fun. Here’s to the future… whoever signs the cheques.

People should stop asking for matt or any other member of dtg to be fired . Matt and his team made improvements to the game, rush hour passengers (though slightly misbehaving at times)still makes platforms a little busier. New lighting. Adhesion physics. New sky box, Dynamic weather even starting to get better audio (xbox still needs abit of work though. The game is not perfect and it never will be , no game is perfect even triple a games have bugs and crashes. Tsw is continuing to evolve and it all takes time. They don't have the budget or resources as the triple a studios do,So many bugs will creep in . Yes I have complained on these forums purely out of frustration then I calm down and continue to play cos I enjoy the game. Matt is also good with the community on streams with his knowledge on the game and trains in general matt is one of the reasons I still watch the streams. So without matt the game would probably suffer more with his absence. Who knows maybe FE will be good for DTG hopefully give them a bigger budget for resources to get the game closer to where they want it and expand.
Sorry for my poor grammar always been bad with it.

Yes it is disgraceful frankly. These people should put themselves in the position of how would they feel if people were calling for their head.

Unfortunately the internet brings out the worst in people at times.

Likewise at "Cab It" at the NRM in York*, some time in 2003 or 2004 (well it was the spring of whatever year I released my SMJ route for MSTS). Pints all round in the pub afterwards, too. There is absolutely no justification for personal attacks or ill wishes and the perpetrator should be banned.

    * There was particular excitement as a couple of people from MS and Kuju were there with a sneak look at what they had in mind for MSTS2 (the first one) though of course in the end it was a wasted effort as both sequels got canned... :(

    Targeting Matt is just disgusting.

For me, he has been the driving force behind TSC and TSW. It is just obvious he is restricted by others who make decisions in the company - I would never demand anyone to lose their jobs, but the people responsible for not letting the devs do their jobs properly are to be found in the management, namely Jackson and Rissik. Focus will see and decide if they let DTG continue along the line they're currently at or not. If there's enough players happily buying broken DLC at the price of a full game, they surely won't act.

I often had the feeling seeing Matt on some streams that he was well aware of issues, but wasn't allowed to speak on the matter - even on an old MattPlays video playing a workshop scenario, he quickly turned the view away from Marias Pass' broken ES44 wiper... but it is not him who is to blame! He just couldn't bite the hand that feeds him.

On the other hand, it was a bit embarrassing to see how little our community managers actually know about railroading in the livestreams - Sam not understanding PZB (I liked him nevertheless, cheers Colonel ;) ), but as a whole their presentation as a developing company was very poor for me. Compare that to the videos by freelance Zusi3 developer Alwin Meschede which are full of knowledge and perfectionism.

So with DTG having a bigger budget now, I'm positive for the future of our beloved games.

DTG Matt I appreciate everything you have done for TSC and TSW, and hope you will be given more resources to make the games better, I know you can if they let you.

I don't think TSW is broken. I enjoy playing it everyday.

And truly dedicated fans like me don't really care if a route is free or on sale as we already own all the DLC.

Are there bugs in it yes. But there are bugs in MSFS, Fernbus, WWE 2k13, MLB the Show 23. So it's not anything different it seems all games come with bugs in this internet age when you can release and patch later.

And people just singling out DTG employees to be fired is beyond disrespectful, they don't come to your workplace and knock the sailors manhood out of your mouth.

Once again this thread shows how so many toxic people have joined these forums over thw last year.

If I were Focus the first thing I would do is close the forums and just set up a news feed instead.

i don't think shutting the forums is the answer they need the forums so people can give feedback on issues with the game, but what it does need is more moderators to watch the forums.

I’m worried about the future of TSC, because it has less activity nowadays and I recently bought it…

TSW will be fine though as it has a LOT of Activity and therefore will have incentive to continue.

Another question is, what about Dovetail Fishing games

Shutting down the forums? If you were in charge, you'd probably be bankrupt with your company. Everyone knows how important feedback is and every good developer allows it. Your North Korean strategy will fail Sir.

That would mean getting rid of good timetables or being able to sit in the passenger seat of the HST for example should just be accepted and not questioned by the plebs?

    Sheesh...

I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever responded to a single one of your posts before so I’ve honestly absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I wholeheartedly agree with your point about people calling for other people to lose their job but as much as I like Jimmy Carr, I’m not entirely sure that this is the place for that joke.

I’m also not sure where that response has come from either, particularly the last sentence. I can only presume (or hope) you’re joking. If you are then it’s not at all funny, if you’re not then please go and speak to someone, anyone, right now.

There is bugs and they have to be addressed. For me it kills the game if I pass an active 500Hz magnet at 60km/h and get an Emergency Braking because the game expects me to pass it below 45 km/h which is just false in passenger mode "O". Just one of many things. PZB is well documented, and there's no excuse for a "Simulator" getting that wrong. And this is just one thing - for me the issues add up to a point that it has become a "landscape simulator" controlling a thing that looks like a train. For some, that may be enough to enjoy it.

"Ignorance is bliss" fits your attitude. Expect different opinions.

Saying DTG should have never sold to console is so stupid because it’s like why would they miss out a large market. And before you start whining about editors. Fortnite is UE5 and works very well on consoles pes. Asking TSW to exclude consoles is like asking for 2/3rds of the community not be catered for. Stop bragging about muh pc master race when it’s not the hardware of the consoles, it’s poor development strategies

Honestly speaking i’m tired of the community managers and matt always having to take the fall for badly made content (Matt,JD and Alex) when most of the time it’s higher ups that are allowing this nonsense to slide

Well this has turned into nice toxic thread hasnt it? What with sections of the community wanting xyz fired.

Its a wonder why some people even venture onto here (let alone play the game) if they hate it so much and think that much of the managerment & devs are a bunch of no hopers stealing a wage.

I do not know you but please talk to those real people you are spending time with to get some help and support. I think maybe you need to spend time away from the internet as a whole and not just these forums, spend some quality time with those close to you.

Tsc will never go away. Dtg are working on modernizing the code and how the game runs on your hardware and lots of other new features. There are also tons of 3rd parties who will continue to make content. I think what is happening is that dtg are getting money from 3rd party sales or whatever is left of it once focus takes their share.

Badly made content is the responsibility of the Executive Producer, who is in charge of production. That's what 'executive' means. I don't think all the unhappiness people feel can be pushed upstairs to the CEO.

It's worth looking up who the Executive Producer is.

Is it not possible to have a debate without resorting to an unpleasant and arrogant tone? If you want to talk about "whining" how about the endless whining by some on here re. the MML and DTG generally? As I've already said TSC is doing very well thank you without being on consoles. TSW would have done too if it had the same features that the community could use such as building routes from scratch and scenarios etc. TSW would have been a real success if it had an editor because all the complaints, or "whining" on here about which route is coming next, and "oh why all UK routes" or whatever, would have been null and void.
Finally I'm entitled to my own opinions so stop being so aggressive all the time. You sound like a person who their loses temper too quickly which is an unhealthy character trait.
I think the reason TSW3 has so many bugs that won't/can't be fixed is partly because DTG are unable to produce a game that runs smoothly on ALL platforms. It's not an easy thing to achieve successfully and I believe it is beyond them. Maybe Focus will be able to assist them.

Quick Monday morning reminder to keep this thread for the purpose it was intended for. Lots of squabbling here.

Once again - speculation for TSW or DTG is fine, but it is not appropriate to call for anyone to lose their jobs, or speculate on individuals' respective circumstances.

Yeah come on people! I know calling for individual employees of DTG to be sacked is probably born out of frustration and not really personal but it’s upper management that’s to blame. The rank and file DTG workers are probably as frustrated as you are about TSW’s woes but they can only work with the finances, equipment, and manpower that upper management of DTG give them.

If TSW had an editor people would be complaining that they can't get their route on consoles (all content would be PC only as console don't have a third party publishing route) and people like me would be wondering why I have to go to ten different websites for dependencies, or assets,

and why scenarios are being created instead of timetables? TSW isn't the same as TSC so anyone creating content would need a fully qualified 24 hour timetable, surely... Or else they're amateurs (according to many threads on here)

Oh, and your comment seems to based on people with editting capabilities putting out better quality or more stable items than DTG. The current crop of publishers for TSC have A2B routes with missing assets, incorrectly set track, orphaned scenarios, require their own packs for scenarios to work and even remove assets, leaving scenarios unplayable without the player having to edit the scenarios using another third party app...

In other words, the editor isn't some sort of panacea, but it means players having to do a lot more (and pay a lot more) to get even basic things working

What a shame to see Adam go as well, maybe that’s why the updates to older DLC have basically died a death courtesy of the preservation crew?!

I’ve got nothing bad to say about DTG, they’ve provided me with hours, months, years of enjoyment. I hope TSW3 can continue to improve, we’ve had some buggy releases but let’s get them fixed and hopefully there’s a bright future to come!

It's true that quite a lot of TSC freeware has the problems you describe, but that's generally not true of commercial publishers.

The editor is great for tweaking things you don't like in a route and the open nature of the platform allows for modding to your hearts content, though that does require time to learn, which isn't for everyone.

We all need to keep an open mind about the acquisition. I know we all feel invested as we spend so much time on the products and most of us have invested so much financially too, but let’s wait for the dust to settle. My thoughts are with everyone at DTG and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future brings. Finally a big thanks to JD for keeping these forums going with the patience of a saint and ultimately to Matt, without your ongoing drive and enthusiasm, we’d have half the hobby we have today! I look forward to seeing what’s to come!

As I've said before, I abhor any derogatory remarks about or aimed at DTG employees. Indeed I don't think we should be speculating about their situations at all. As players and customers it's none of our business.

But, much as I find negative remarks about DTG employees an unpleasant distraction, at the same time I find this constant stream of gushing and somewhat sycophantic praise of them more than a little cringeworthy.

Concerning the upcoming canonizations, my call is already in to the Vatican. I just have to find the 3 necessary miracles, hard to do with TSW right now. ;)

It does seem not many have the ability to just sit on the fence, they keep falling off and either ranting or having gushing praise as you call it, don't get me long love the game glad it exists, but end of the day it's a bit of code, and if it disappears I'll still be here sitting on my fence watching all the craziness play out on both sides of it..........

It needs to improve that's without doubt, even those who enjoy it in its current state will find something sooner or later they wish to change.

It is thanks to Matt Peddleson that we have such a scene in the trains sim genre he and several others have done fantastic work in getting things to were they are now and the personal attacks are not called for and out of order. Its our choice to buy this stuff or not and although I am very critical these days of TSW I have got TSC to a place were it keeps me satisfied with trainsim.

I have said all along if we could combine the operational realism of Zusi, the content of TSC and the graphics of TSW we would be on to a winner but alas that won't be the way it pans out. Too many commercial realities and likely obstacles. MSFS should be the benchmark now for niche Sims.

I still think TSW has had its day and the lack of editors will be its downfall. Coupled to the lead time for content production which is doglegging it.
