Hi All, I’m going to suggest Doncaster to Cleethorpes / Immingham, in the early 90s A fab mix of passenger and freight on this line. Highlights - Semephore and colour light running. - End to end freight services from both vast industrial sites at Scunthorpe and Inmingham - Local and express type passenger runs - Gunhouse and Santon bank gradients that will test heavy trains - Froddingham and Immingham depots and the vast yards of both these and Doncaster. Suggested locos - I know DTG usually only release on new loco / unit on new releases so I propose the Class 60, they could include all the 100 locos in the class in each of the four sub-sector liveries (coal, petroleum, metals and construction) and to individualize further, have each with their original names) Two new wagons a 36.5 tonne HAA type for the Immingham Bulk Terminal to Scunthorpe Coal Handling Plant workings and a 100 tonne JUA Iron ore tippler for the Immingham to Santon ore trains. The already existing steel BBA and HEA wagon types from TVL and the TEA tankers from NTP could also be used on freight. Class 08s from DLOTGW, NTP or TVL could add more shunting gameplay at Scunthorpe (there was at least 5 here!) plenty more at Doncaster and Immingham, there was even one at Grimsby! If they were to release two locos / units then a 158 in the Regional Railways Express livery would be appropriate. The 150 from WCL could be used, and the 101 would suffice until a DLC could be realeased. DLC could be a 158 as above, a ‘Super Sprinter’ 156 and/or a Class 142 pacer. These could also be layered onto TVL. Everything from TVL and NPT could be layered in on this route too. The route could include the Flixborough / Roxby branch or even the Barton Branch but would that be greedy lol
Would be nice to see in game (Scunthorpe is my local station). A nice variety of freight also as it is a busy freight corridor (mostly 66s but I have seen the odd 70 and 60). Setting it in modern day could give us 185s for Cleethorpes-Doncaster, 156s for Barton line(whether or not that line is also included) and up to Barnetby (where they go to Lincoln), and the 150/2 could do the local stopper Scunthorpe-Doncaster. 158 also between Doncaster and Hatfield&Stainforth where it leaves to go towards Goole and Hull. The only two new trains they would need would be the 185, 156 as all other can layer from other routes
Bring it on and speaking of Class 60 it has the tractive force to go up Lickey Incline unassisted due to it trading horsepower for Tractive force if one has this route with Birmingham Cross City Line.
The problem with having the route set in the present day removed most of the freight traffic, the mix of semephores and colour lights, the depots at Froddingham and Immingham, the class 60s and almost all the shunters. It only gives you a class 185 which would probably be better suited elsewhere.
A perfect route that would compliment Tees Valley very well too. It’s been far too long since we’ve had a British route where modern freight is in the spotlight, and the 60 would finally offer more variety than 66s on everything
Yes would love to see this with a class 60 and 158. In the era suggested, I can't see where having this route set in the modern era is of any advantage to game play.
