after the last roadmap reading about the LAMP process, i really don’t understand how a route like this would be chosen tbh

Agree with this. I’m sure it was at the top of requested routes for development…right?!

Had to check we weren't back on April 1st with that UK route announcement.

That is just absurd. Peak Forest not going to Derby and/or Manchester was bad enough, but really... Seems to me something is absurdly wrong at DTG, when from all the routes being suggested they put out a short 14 mile EMU line with a recycled 323. All I can think is they are on their knees for staff actually capable of building a decent length route. A historic Woodhead with a Class 76 and Class 506 would have been a Day One purchase, but unless this sells for around £7.99 they can stick it, sorry to be rude.

If this is the best they can do, then time to either pack TSW away or throw open the route editor to those who can make something purposeful, whether freeware or commercial.

Personally I think the free LGV offering should be scrapped as the offer does nothing for those who have religiously supported TSW from the beginning. Faithful supporters should be rewarded for all the money they have spent.

Instead make this new 14 mile route free then everyone benefits. The current offer is a kick in the teeth for those that already have purchased and paid good money for LGV.

Well, I'm pleased of course that they are working on the NYT timetable and that some very old US updates are still there.

Not pleased that there is no new US route in the foreseeable future, but if that's the price we have to pay for the NYT update, it's fine with me.

Nice to see that the update to Mainz- Koblenz is in prospect. Good route but it needs fixing before somebody gets tossed in the air on a grade crossing. I hope they put in some river traffic.

The upcoming Manchester suburban route actually intrigues me, though I wish it weren't an emu running on it. Actually, I wish it was set back in the " NTP " era with some diesel traction ( 101? ) But of all the " electrostar " trains, the 323 is the best. And length is never an issue with me, quality, timetable and gameplay are though. So, I might pop for that, depending.

Not much coming soon, but I have plenty of other stuff to keep me moving along the track.

WTH are you on about? What dance? I can assure unless this is a budget price route or free, I won't be wasting any hard drive space on it.

If you wanted to go Manchester Piccadilly original name Manchester London Road to Sheffield Victoria you are suggesting for Glossop line to become the known train simulator classic Woodhead route. Ptg raik has a guide on that route

Spot on. Hadfield was where League of Gentlemen was filmed. It’s weird going there in real life and seeing all the places from the programme.

Do using real time trains there’s 57 services from Hadfield to Manchester (2023 and one service is a RHTT from Wigan to Crewe). And there’s 40 services from Manchester to Hadfield (again 2023) bringing a total of 97…..

NTP era would either Class 506 (DC Electric) or Class 303 (AC Electric).

I got them both, and while the BR Blue version is more graphically updated, I prefer the old version (BR Green era? not sure?) with the line in its full glory. BR Blue version clearly shows the line in decay with half of the stations shut down already. Never was a favourite of that particular era for this particular route, even though the locos itself were pretty interesting to drive.

There isn't a route on TSW 3 that I have fully completed 97 services would take me 6 months to do as I have full time work and a house to run so playing TSW I usually manage around an hour on a good day. Give me 3 years to do every service on BML

Ah, thanks for clarifying that. I should have known since I have the TSC Wood head Line.

Was there a diesel era for this line?

Not sure, the line was electrified in the 50s so likely went straight from steam to electric. I remember reading somewhere that the 76 & 77 were favoured over diesels due to the gradients up to Woodhead. Same reason the 506s rarely went east of Hadfield.

It's possible some freight could've been diesel. As for diesel passenger, likely loco hauled and DMU traffic between Manchester and Guide Bridge turning off and joining NTP at Stalybridge, as well as Hope Valley line south of there. Then east of Woodhead saw some DMU traffic between Sheffield & Huddersfield.

I think the line also goes to DMU operation during extreme heat due to the old electrification.

Thanks again. Well, what you say means that there were more interesting periods of traction than a simple emu, not that the 323 isn't a decent drive.
