While TSW3 simmers may be unfamiliar with it there's a region called the "Eastern Region" which is located in the East of England, including an area called East Anglia. It's not very hilly but it's a lovely part of the country and I love life here. If your only experience of UK railway lines is from TSW3 you may be surprised to hear about this East of England place but there are a number of interesting railway lines in the "Eastern Region" such as main lines from; Liverpool Street - Great Eastern and West Anglia mainlines to Norwich and Cambridge respectively Fenchurch Street - The former LMS line through industrial and suburban south Essex then a trip along the sea wall down to Shoeburyness (as seen on a mile of the South Eastern express route) Kings Cross - To Edinburgh, Leeds and so many other destinations along the East Coast of Britain. Then there are a number of charming rural lines in TSC like the Armstrong Powerhouse version of the Wherry Lines, Kings Cross to Kings Lynn by Alan Thomson Simulation and Nottingham to Lincoln by Just Trains. We've also got a rich history of traction here, in particular Cravens DMUs, Mk1, 2 and 3 based EMUs and loco hauled expresses and cross country trains. So I think DTG should be brave and start to explore the "Eastern Region" area of Britain because there are lots of TSW players here and they must be starting to feel a bit homesick.
Yes I have lived in Lincolnshire all my life apart from a few years when I moved to near Nottingham for work and it is tiring not having the lovely farms and fields of the East in game. It is a beautiful area of the country with rich railway history which will hopefully appear in game soon.
A while back i made a Suggestion for what is basically a Remake of the ECML: York - Newcastle route from TSC, its one of my favorite routes of that game so having it back in TSW would be quite amazing, mainly just a Deltic i want, plus there is a lot of Layering opportunities that come with it
York to Newcastle firmly in what was the North Eastern Region from 1948 to 1967, then it was merged with Eastern until sectorisation in the early 80s. But having worked in the East Anglian part of the Eastern Region, North of the Humber was still referred to as North Eastern. I wouldn't mind it though, it's a good run, it's had some classic traction and could even link up with the other North Eastern route from Darlington. Good opportunity to get a Deltic and some other Mk1 DMUs in the game if they go for pre-electrification era.
If they wanted to dip their toes in the water, how about the old Hunstanton branch from Kings Lynn. Or something like Norwich to Ely and March, preferably BR Classic which could provide a home route for the 31's.
We already have twonEastern region routes Tees Valley Line set in 1989 and 1983 Huddersfield line. What the game needs is an electrified Eastern region route GEML and Harwich Port Branch ferries to the Netherlands Hoek Van Holland. That was made for TSC Just Trains Mayflower Line time to make both for TSW 3. London Liverpool Street to Harwich Port is the Hook continental train.
TVL is the old North Eastern Region and NTP is the old London Midland Region (Manchester is definitely not East!) There are absolutely no routes in the old Eastern Region in TSW.
Also something around the Lincoln area could be interesting, particularly if set before St Marks closed and the yards at Holmes and Pyewipe were still active, as well as the Boultham avoiding line.
Wherry lines would be good, but might get a bit boring with wall to wall Stadlers or just one type from the legacy stock. A version from the 80s would only need a Cravens DMU as the rest was 31s, 37s, 47s and 101s with a mixture of Mk1 and Mk2 coaches. The Huddersfield Line was mostly operated by London Midland but some of the cross-country trains had (North) Eastern locos and crews on them.
what about Kings Lynn and Norwich to Cambridge, we already have a Great Northern License a 387, a 700 on the way for both Great Northern and Thameslink and a 158 so all we would need is a 745/755
That's part of the old North Eastern too, but I agree, it would be a superb route, especially if it can link to the Manchester route. I'm all for route extensions.
The GN/GE Joint Line between Doncaster and Peterborough via Lincoln and Sleaford would count, it would be nice to feature it in either modern day or backdated to diesel or even steam era
