It could be interesting to see how well they capture the decaying Woodhead infrastructure and abandoned platforms- I hope it has the real feel of decay and isn't a 'glossy' misrepresentation.

I still feel there isn't much of interest on this route and that there are much more interesting Northern routes out there. However, at least we have got some more Northern and Midlands routes this year, so that's a positive and we therefore can expect more Northern rail branded routes or rolling stock in the future I feel.

If like me you already own LGV, then you have been playing it since you bought it, unlike the people who will receive it for free in the next month, so you've already had a return on your investment :)

I have just about all the dlc on both Xbox and PC and I think it's completely fair- as was mentioned above, if you've already bought it, then you've had the use of it all this time- that's the advantage of buying at launch- the disadvantage is that you miss out on potential sales and promotions down the line.

DTG are trying to do a nice little thing, but people still complain- ok maybe you miss out on this one, but i'd hardly call it a "kick in the teeth"

Well said. I've bought the TGV route a while ago, and have been able to enjoy it all this time. I don't mind other people getting it as a freebie. The things people can compain about these days...

I also bought TGV at full price and I think it's great that they're giving it away now to those who don't have it, I'm not going to complain about that.
But it's clear that for those of us who have been loyal customers for years and have been buying every DLC religiously, the only gift we always get is a kick in the balls.

Do people also complain when Steam or Epic give away a free game that they've already bought and demand a different freebie? Good grief.

If I boycotted all the groceries that have gone on sale right after I bought them, I'd have long starved to death.

Life is full of no-fault disappointments. You'll be okay.

Thank you erg73, I feel the same.

I am not complaining about DTG offering LGV as a freebee. It’s a gracious gift to those new to the game and those who haven’t purchased it and I commend it.

What I am complaining about is the fact that this offer doesn’t reward those loyal supporters of the game, whose purchases which have built DTG into the company they are today and feel that if DTG want to recognise their new association with Focus and offer its players something, it should be fair to all of us!!

Hm ... I kind of suspected it already with the DB BR 420 and a needed/planned refurbish of München-Augsburg - and I hope/fear it'll be the case for the DB BR 232 and Rhur-Sieg-Nord, too. This takes time, I'm ok with it. Love those routes, sunk hundreds of hours (combined) into them and appreciate them receiving continous love by the Devs! Thanks Matt for explaining a little bit more about the status of the loco and why it shockingly is "back to planning".

I'm incredibly patient as past releases showed the wait is worth it, and I say it again, ultimately it was TSG that made me upgrade to TSW3 (after being grumpy for 6 month last summer) in the first place :)

LIDAR was a great read, I remember Lucas already talking about it in the last release streams of I think it was Linke Rheinstecke. I'm totally looking forward for new routes utilizing this and becoming even more true to life.

As for NYT I'm glad DTG is adressing the timetable and summoning THE (?) timetable-guru Joethefish for the Task which might result in outstanding good results. I got the route myself and have it unplayed waiting for the updates. Yeah I kind of gambled, got it in the last sale and just did hope that DTG find back to track and re-connect with the community. I won?

    Early access now £24.99 :o

I get they can’t just make new routes and hand them out, but it does seem like another occasion where long time buyers of TSW get left out.

Some Players: We would like to have a free DLC

DTG: Sure, we will give the French High Speed Route away for free along with TSC french content

Other Players: It's not fair because I already bought it.

I guess DTG just can't win sometimes.

Just because people already bought it doesn't mean everyone did including myself. That's like saying there shouldn't be any sales because someone paid full price for a dlc but the other person got it at 50% off and thus wouldn't be fair

The route came out 2 and a half years ago. Not everyone has the route so it is nice to see DTG give away something for free. Other game companies do the same but I guess it wouldn't be fair to some.

If you chose to bought it then too bad. That was your choice and considering it came out long ago, it isn't bad to give away a old dlc. Surely you would've gotten a return on your investment. Life isn't fair but this is a fair decision and it is what it is

Disappointing that the new UK route is recycling the Class 323. Surely there must be other locos not currently in the game that could be included.

I do enjoy LGV, at the same time I wonder how many people bought it just for grinding out the Platinum trophy in TSW2. :D

I'm very excited about the improvements Joe is making to the NYT timetable, knowing his work I'm sure the result will be amazing. I was always hopeful that DTG would finally step up to make it happen and they have not disappointed me.
I will finally be able to enjoy this route that I bought the first day but soon abandoned. I don't know if it will be possible but I would like to see some freight services included, even if very few, and some static rolling stock on the sidings because so many now look very sad and lifeless, except Sunnyside Yard.

I paid 30€ for this route and I don't regret it, I have spent a lot of hours on it and personally I don't get bored of it. I love the train and the sounds, the horn is great too.
But most of all I paid full price to support the introduction of new countries to TSW, just like I did with Arosa Linie. I always see a lot of requests for routes to be made in other places but if they don't sell enough then it makes sense that the developers see it as too risky financially to introduce them, and stick to the usual three countries.

Don’t you just hate it when you bought a bag of sweets and then two years later you see someone else get given a bag of sweets for free. It boils my blood, especially as I’ve bought hundreds of bags of sweets and I doubt that child has ever paid for anything in his life. True story.

Everybody likes a freebie but it isn’t necessary if you already bought it years (or just weeks) ago, you already have it. You don’t get to choose other people’s or company’s generosity so can’t demand a different offer because you miss out on this one. If anyone has bought all the DLC up to date they really don’t need a handout anyway. There’s no need to get all green eyed and tearful over other people getting it for free, it’s not even a bag of sweets.

This LGV allreadyowners crying is shameful and childish. You paid for the time you spent with this game people not for this moment, for f.. sake.
What is more concernig the rush hour passangers update is on red light, and LGV suffers from train hollowness, right now (as many other routes).

Nice video. But I see a lot of very empty platforms. I hope the TSW route will not be to crowded ... If this were a Dutch route it would be very near to closure.

There’s also people who like the idea of a short route to take the 323 for a quick spin. It’s a win for those people, if it’s executed properly.

For those who aren’t onboard with it, it doesn’t really affect them if they don’t buy it.

When is the fixes for London commuter coming out? Because I’m fed up with the class 377 on the back of the train you can’t shut the yellow middle door. It’s annoying specially when you can’t shut it

By the looks of it the video was recorded 4 years ago at the beginning of the covid out break in the UK. Also its a bit of a rural route out to Glossop so don't expect SEHS type passenger numbers.

we all like free things but nobody should buy a piece of content/product expecting to one day get something for free just because of that

  31. AtherianKing

    AtherianKing Guest

I don’t think anyone who purchased LGV (myself included) expected to get something for free from that purchase.

The problem seems to be that, anyone who purchases content always seems to get the worse end of any bundle/bargain. It’s not the first time things like this have occured. My point is the “loyalty system” is backwards.

edit: I think it’s all great obviously for those who don’t own the content already obviously (ironically…)

but when there’s news like “this has happened an here’s something that won’t effect you one bit too celebrate said thing”

it’s just not that great for anyone else. I ain’t asking for free content. Its just things like this should be more focused on the whole player base rather than those that, either aren’t interested or those who simply don’t own that content.

Well I'll be grabbing the TSC French routes. Bought LGV for TSW a couple of months back in one of the sales so it didn't exactly break the bank.

Perhaps they should offer Rapid Transit as an alternate for those who already have LGV, but in truth it doesn't bother me that much.

I hope in the future that DGT will upgrade to UE5 because the graphics will be epic and so much better
This how I think DGT should go about this upgrade all existing routes first to UE5 standard the graphics will be unreal I think this will probably happen if DGT updates the existing game to UE5 that’s probably in the future UE4 is still good UE5 will be next level
but it’s time to move on and start looking forward to the future brings

UE5 will make the game very good with the night sky even darker and the tunnel very dark with more shadows there no point rushing the upgrade I think in my own opinion is to update all of the routes and trains to UE5 standard and upgrade the core game to UE5
    and even bigger worlds

    What platforms does UE5 support?

Unreal Engine 5 enables you to deploy projects to Windows PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, macOS, iOS, Android, ARKit, ARCore, OpenXR, SteamVR, Oculus, Linux, and SteamDeck. You can run the Unreal Editor on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia console tools and code are available at no additional cost to developers who are registered developers for their respective platform(s).

the top thing's I DGT to Improve on are the Passangers and give the players to customise there character and longer routes and join up existing routes it will make it more fun to play and start listening to their play based and get there customers to join in what route they like to see in the game working Toilets on Train and platforms sitting on seating working vending machine and ticket machine and have a journey mode where you do missions story mode witch gives fake Money to spend in game something like this would please players

routes I like to and my reason why I like to see them in the game
    and trains

    Renfe

    Spain High speed
    Paris to Barcelona
    Barcelona to Madrid
my Reason why I like to see them in game is because Iv been on Holiday in Spain iv travel by train there

    I like to have trenitalia

    Rome to Paris

    London to Paris

    Paris to Frankfurt

York Via Harrogate to Leeds to London Kings Cross
will be grate as I live in Knaresborough
with the class 150 class 158 and class 170 and the class 800 used the line

I know that some people live in the past with Gen 8 but we have to start to move on look forward to what's happing now with the Gen 9 that can handle bigger worlds and UE5 would unlock Gen9 I have to stay with DGT be takeover nothing will change this is totally normal in the Gaming world look at codemasters they got takenover by EA sports it just means more Money to spend

But then, what for those who have both of these routes, something British?
As for TSC, I'm missing just the one TGV DLC that was removed from sale a few years ago, so I'll be getting it when it's back.

Anyway, related to the roadmap stream, I can't wait to hear or read more details in the future roadmaps what Union Workshop is doing. If I heard correctly on the stream, the route has been already defined.

Maybe the simplest answer would have been a money off voucher towards a route of the player’s own choice or, if you own everything, a future purchase. Or perhaps just a 50% off everything sale for two or three days.

That would have been very expensive for DTG.
Giving away a DLC that has probably sold very well already will likely mean a very low cost for them, i.e. very small loss of potential revenue.

Rivet has given €3-discount coupons as a reward for filling in their annual survey twice now, so something that should be feasable. Not sure it's enough of a discount to make people happy though.

I wouldn't be surprised if there'll also be a sale event to celebrate (and bring in some extra cash, which is generally the whole purpose of sale events).

There actually may be a general TSC/TSW sale during that time, as there wasn't any for the past month, but probably not 50% off for everything.

Anyway, a -50% off discount wouldn't guarantee that I'd purchase any of the newly released stuff, as for me it would be still more expensive than -15% off for TSW2 stuff, maybe except for loco DLCs or loco packs. I'd be getting in such case first the remaining TSW2 routes that I don't have.

This is because free giveaways and bundles are a marketing device and not a loyalty system. DTG do not have a loyalty system. Maybe they should (and a subject for a thread of its own possibly) but this giveaway is just because of the French connection and nobody, neither people who buy lots of content or those who hardly ever buy any DLC, could have foreseen it when deciding whether to buy something. It would be a big risk to not buy the Peak Forest route for example just in case one day they might give it away for free for a week. Nobody is being rewarded for their decisions here. Complaining about this giveaway is just daft.

It's too much work to move everything to ue5. There's about 70 pieces of dlc content to port over and porting was a nightmare for the then called preservation team. You can't just turn on ue5 and it magically works. The best option is to do a fresh start with tsw meaning none of your existing content ports over.

Regarding your comment about joining every single route together is just not possible. Many routes are in completely different regions and thousands of miles apart.

I may have worded “loyalty system” wrong when I was more referring to giveaways. Rather than an actual implementation of such a thing.

It’s more to do with the ownership switch than the actual country the owner is in, but that’s a different point. It either just so happened to be or they used that when deciding on an older route.

I wasn’t suggesting to hold off purchases to see if content comes for free in the future, my suggestion was to open up these kind of things to the whole player base, not just those who haven’t purchased content. (I was also not suggesting this had to be a whole route for everyone as that would be quite unrealistic/quite unfair.

And I as I mentioned above, I think it’s a great thing for newcomers, i was not complaining.

The new timetable for New York-Trenton sounds really promising, making it a possible next purchase. US passenger operations are, at least for me, something rather different to what you get on the European routes, with the ACS-64 and Acela providing a fun drive.

What stays a minor complaint from my side is that post-release patches for the Acela are removed from the Road Map. The PIS on NEC: Boston-Providence shows no off-world destinations albeit being its intended home route and according to what I've read in the article PIS showing the correct destinations on the Trenton route.
Hopefully that's something that can still be corrected in a future patch as it adds much to immersion.

I'm glad the Acela stops at Trenton. I don't want to drive through and stop at a red light at the end of the route. It makes even less sense to me, and is much more of an immersion breaker, to have red lights for the Acela each and every run. It's not unrealistic, especially to people unfamiliar with the NEC, to stop at such a large city. In fact, it makes more sense to me for it to stop there than at Back Bay - even though it's prototypical. No one from the UK or Europe would even know something was "wrong".

What I dislike is how all the long distance trains lack sleepers, a dining car, and a baggage car. Can you guys throw us a bone and model Viewliner II sleepers with the doors closed on all the rooms and the blinds drawn or something? Surely that's easier than how you actually modeled the individual passenger compartments on the ICE and SoS. And a baggage car should be easy.

While I get your point, I’d be careful with this argument. Such information is hardly difficult to come by. It reminds me of Skyhook’s 187, when it was also argued that no one from the UK or USA etc. would know that the sounds are wrong.

It would be kinda pointless. If they are going to make the 3d model anyway, why not make the whole interior. Hopefully we get the correct unit and coaches at some point but nothing on the roadmap.

Ok, fair enough. But it is within the realm of possibility for there to be an Acela stop at Trenton. It's the state capital after all! Maybe it's not prototypical, but it makes sense. I mean, it's far more realistic than, say...a stop at Chester. (In fact, I assumed that the real-life Acela did stop at Trenton. The Meteor and the Star do after all. Then again, I'm shocked that there's no IRL stop at Newark. The Metroliner always used to stop at BWI.)

Oh for sure I'd want the whole interior. I'm just saying that I'd be willing to settle at this point.

Just a quick one if I may about the beta tester request

Apologies If I've missed this but why timescales do you have on

    Request window being open
    Review window
Communication window (assuming all volunteers will hear?)

I'm not chasing an answer but curious what you have in mind timing wise
