Just a quickie as I can’t seem to find the highly esteemed pathway on peak forest. Does anyone know where it is/ what happened to it?

    Thanks in advance!!!

In all honesty mate I don't know, but I would assume there will be a youtube video out there that will show you. Sorry I couldn't help greatly.

If you're referring to the Monsal Trail between Rowsley and (more or less) Buxton, then that came after the line was removed.

    Otherwise, I haven't a clue.

I looked into this and unfortunately due to miscommunications, it's been blocked off!

I'm going to see what I can do to get it fixed in an update :)

    Matt.

Ah ok thanks Matt, it would be nice to see this updated as it does seem like it would be something really nice to be able to do. This is really the biggest issue with the route, well this and the jubilee and 8f window bug, so would be nice for this to get sorted.

    Thanks again!!!

Oops, so what happened? Did QA flag the much-lauded scenic view from the route previews as an out of bounds bug and it got "fixed"?

    Crazy!...

You can't even visit the second part of Buxton station. Absolutely ridiculous to have 'barred' us from appreciating the hard work of the stations that you can see have had a lot of work done to them.

Same with the branchline after whatstandwell, which meets the mainline on a higher point. They placed even wagons, but its cutted off entirely.

Truely ridiculous cutting out those areas. Reminds me on skyhook fencing out the most interesting part of the route the ratcliff powerplant.

All the huge effort went into the scenery just to cut it out, seems to happen a lot with tsw.

Im sure Skyhook said they only loosely modelled it, as a term to futureproof the route and *may* go back and properly model it when a DLC comes to utilise the area.
Makes sense if it's not graphically perfect, to OOB it until later?

Please clip the wings of the person who puts in the invisible walls, in fact stop them all together and let us explore! :P

Sincere apologies for reviving this thread, but I couldn’t find any discussion on the pathway anywhere else.

Did this ever end up getting fixed? Currently considering buying the route, and as someone who really appreciates scenery and exploration, that pathway would make the route even more appealing to me.

So… I’ve done a little bit of research, and according to DTG Matt in the Festival of Rail Spring 2023 stream (where details and images of the route were first revealed), the path seems to be located somewhere around Headstone Viaduct in the Monsal Dale area of the route.

I just bought the add-on, so I’m still busy checking out the new scenarios & rolling stock etc., but perhaps someone could go to that area and check out the path? Should all be there, just blocked off. If we’re lucky, it could be explorable with the free cam, or even on foot with mods on PC.

Took some screenshots of Monsal Dale using God mode, I don't know if any of these are the path they are referring to

Peak forest is the absolute top class of nonsensical invisible wall placement.

The entire upper part of buxton station is modeled and closed off.., same for so many other areas. I guess DTG knew already about abandoning steam very soon.

Despite not having a manual firing mode, peak forest is a very atmospheric route and really worth the purchais. Same with spirit of steam.

Somebody might come and fix the core. Even after JTs second route preston carlisle, they never mentioned "br blue isnt selling well". Jt put so much effort into the 2 routes and delivered the full scope.

Same goes for DTG with steam, why abandon the project after all the effort with the research, creating 2 very good routes with a ton of further potential? To me it looks they are very close to the goal.

People like steam, but not half baked abandonware which is delivered in a better state on tsc. The Scope for spirit of steam was just too big ("impossible").

Why not introducing a proper working firing and consumption steam physics core on a branchline + coalmine?

What annoys me, that DTG left behind an entire messed up traction segment, which no other dev touches in its current state.

Yooo, thank you so much for taking these images!

Judging by the screenshots they showed in the Festival of Rail stream while Matt was talking about the path, my best guess is that it starts at the station (visible in pic 1), then goes towards the riverside village (pics 2 & 3) and takes a right turn, proceeding up towards the hill (pic 4). The increased level of detail along that specific route is a dead giveaway, especially the perfectly placed fence far away from the railway (very noticeable in pic 4).
I guess there’s also a chance that the path isn’t fully linear and additionally allows the player to explore more parts of the riverside village (left half of image 3) or go further up the hill on the right in image 1. Definitely super interesting!

Edit: The whole path is still there in real life (Google Maps link for the start of the path near the former station). It’s just a lot more overgrown nowadays, so the vintage in-game views are definitely better ;).

Edit 2: I was able to get onto the first few meters of the path (where it goes underneath the railway before heading downhill to the river) by making use of a little bit of wonky collision at the eastern end of the little stone bridge immediately next to Monsal Dale station. There’s some invisible collision next to the small white lineside box, and you can walk on top of it to get over the barbed wire fence. However, the overall collision box (that also constrains the free camera and photo mode movement, among other things) takes effect soon after you start walking down to the river, so there’s no way to reach the village and rest of the path without PC mods, I believe.
Perhaps someone else can find a way to get past the second invisible wall as well?
