Hello all, TrainGeek08 here, and today I'm back with another suggestion and it's the Penistone Line (no sniggering) between Huddersfield and Sheffield as it allows Huddersfield to be represented for not only the second time in game but the current Huddersfield and not the 1980s one, albeit it not changing significantly other than adding another platform for Penistone Line services

    Stock included in base route:

A reworked British Rail Class 150/2 'Sprinter' in Northern livery

    Training (In Training Center):
Northern 150/2 Introduction (so the WCL one would become Regional Railways 150/2 Introduction)

    Scenarios:

    Berry Fields: (Difficulty - 1)
Drive a Northern 150/2 on a rare shuttle service between Berry Brow and Huddersfield

    Full Run: (Difficulty - 3)
A snowstorm is brewing in the Barnsley area and heading along the path of the Penistone Line to Huddersfield, drive a Northern 150/2 from Huddersfield to Sheffield in this terrible weather

    Penistone Recovery: (Difficulty - 2)
A 150 has broken down at Penistone, drive this rescue 150 from Barnsley to Penistone, couple up to it then drive ECS back to Sheffield where a fitter is awaiting to fix (hopefully) the failed unit

Sheffield in Spring: (Difficulty - 1)
Drive this Northern 150/2 from Sheffield to Huddersfield on a nice, warm spring day

    Timetable:
    2019 Working Timetable

Potential DLC, Layers & Stations coming up on Page 2...

This route will never come out to keep the age rating down ;) jk.
Jokes aside this would be a lovely route for tsw3, very scenic and would be nice to thrash a brilliant sprinter through the pennines.

    Page 2:

    Potential DLC:

The British Rail Class 150/1 'Sprinter' in Northern livery

    Training (In Training Center):
    Class 150/1 Introduction

    Scenarios:
    Double Sprinter: (Difficulty - 1)
Drive this 150/1 and 150/2 combo from Barnsley to Sheffield, should be a nice easy run

Dash One in a Storm: (Difficulty - 3)
Drive this Northern 150/1 from Huddersfield to Penistone in a rainstorm

    Sheffield Hudder: (Difficulty - 2)
Drive this Northern 150/1 on a delayed Penistone Line service to Huddersfield and try to make up time along the way

    Timetable:
Incorporated into base TT and layer into the /2's diagrams

    Layers:

Class 47 (NTP) TnT on a railtour service passing through the area from Leeds to Sheffield via Huddersfield

Stations: (only key stations en-route are listed from now on, unless you've forgotten ;))
    Huddersfield:

Huddersfield railway station serves the town of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. The station is managed by TransPennine Express, which provides trains between Manchester and Liverpool in the North West and Newcastle and Middlesbrough in the North East and also to York, Scarborough and Hull via Leeds. It is also served by local Northern trains on the Huddersfield, Penistone and Caldervale lines, which between them provide service to Leeds, Wakefield Westgate, Manchester Victoria, Sheffield, Brighouse, Halifax and Bradford Interchange. Huddersfield station is the second busiest station in West Yorkshire, with Leeds being the first.

    Penistone:

Penistone railway station serves the town of Penistone, in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. Services are provided by Northern Trains. The current station, at the junction of the Woodhead Line and Penistone Line, opened in 1874; it replaced a station solely on the Woodhead Line, dating from the line's opening by the Sheffield, Ashton-Under-Lyne and Manchester Railway in 1845.

    Barnsley:

Barnsley Interchange is a combined rail and bus station in the centre of Barnsley, South Yorkshire. It was first opened in 1850 as Barnsley Exchange railway station and is 16 miles (26 km) north of Sheffield. It is on the Hallam and Penistone Lines, both operated by Northern Trains. On 20 May 2007, the new bus station and refurbished railway station were officially opened by Travel South Yorkshire, with the combined facility renamed to Barnsley Interchange.

    Meadowhall:

Meadowhall Interchange is a transport interchange located in north-east Sheffield, consisting of a combined heavy rail station, tram stop and bus and coach station. The second-busiest heavy rail station in the city in terms of passenger numbers, Meadowhall Interchange provides connections between National Rail services, the Sheffield Supertram light rail network, intercity coach services and the city bus network.

    Sheffield:

Sheffield station, formerly Pond Street and later Sheffield Midland, is a combined railway station and tram stop in Sheffield, England; it is the busiest station in South Yorkshire. Adjacent is Sheffield station/Sheffield Hallam University Sheffield Supertram stop. In 2017–18, the station was the 43rd-busiest in the UK and the 15th-busiest outside London.

Aye, totally agree, it would be a great route for the Sprinters and it's in Yorkshire, so it's a win win :)

Cheers, would like this one in game, provides a reworked 150/2 (made by DTG) with potential for another 150 subclass to enter as DLC and with a 47 railtour, it'll be great :)

I 100% would love this to become a reality, i think Sheffield really should be included in TSW, whether that's Sheffield to Doncaster, Lincoln or in this case Huddersfield

in this case it would also be nice to have the line to Leeds via Wakefield Kirkgate included too, to add express services to the stopping ones to Huddersfield.. i can only hope!

But then you would have one route to Huddersfield whereas the other would diverge to Leeds, unless they model the Huddersfield to Wakefield Kirkgate (a modern remodel between Huddersfield and Ravensthorpe as that part is in NTP), but it is possible ;)

my thinking was have the route from Sheffield to Huddersfield via Barnsley like usual, but also have the line that diverges from Barnsley to Leeds via Wakefield Kirkgate too, so you could drive either local stopping services Sheffield to Huddersfield, or semi express services Sheffield to Leeds (via Barnsley)

but i'd also be happy with just the Huddersfield line if that was offered too!

Both great ideas, that could be added as extensions like how Ashford International/HS1 and Dartford were for Southeastern High Speed but again, both are brilliant ideas :)

Bring it on why not set this 1983 that way you can merge this with NTP to run Sheffield Midland Class 40 HFP Runs to Manchester Victoria via Huddersfield. That way you can get Northern Transpennine Manchester Victoria to Leeds City and Sheffield Victoria.

Was thinking of going down that route but since we have Huddersfield in the 1980s in NTP already, we need Huddersfield in it's current format and this route would be a great candidate for that to occur :)

Thanks for the answer and the reason why I said the 1980s is that on NTP with HFP there's Sheffield Midland freight trains to Manchester Victoria via Penistone Line.

That's no problem, I'm sure a passenger service also comes from Sheffield that you take two coaches off it in the 08 and it then continues to Leeds, but it is a good idea to backdate it to align with Northern Trans-Pennine however :)

Great suggestion mate, it's a lovely line with some nice scenery. I reckon both the 150/1 and 150/2 could be included with the base route.
I must admit my mind did jump to this would be a good route set in the 80s but also it would be nice to have a modern Northern diesel route.

Cheers mate, that isn't too bad of an idea actually, both 150 subclasses in the base route would be nice, like I said above I was thinking about a NTP merge but just thought we need a modern Huddersfield and this would be the route to do it on :)
