Used to play this game a lot, since the first TSW back in 2019. Used to post tons of comments too. Then, my interest slowly faded away. Tired of bugs, unfinished add-ons, bad optimization, etc. Even when I jumped on my new Xbox Series X. Performances were definitely better than old gen consoles, but not enough. TSW3 was the last disappointment. Then, after several months, I reinstalled TSW3 and, well, I have to admit: it's pretty cool right now. Performances improved a lot and the game is definitely enjoyable. I grabbed 2 new TSW3 routes (Edinburgh-Glasgow and Trenton-New York). They're not perfect, but 1000 times more enjoyable than older laggy routes. Even older stuttering routes (Harlem line, Tharandter Rampe, etc.) run now smooth as silk. Still experiencing some stuttering with SHS and SKW, but I prefer other routes, so no problem.
I play on series x and to be fair I only ever really pay attention to the stutters/pauses on Bremen (the last times I was on it), the other routes I never seem to pick up on it.
I got the Standard Edition with Gamepass, and SEHS was the first route I played, and the one I loved the most when I started. It's been 6 months since then, so now I bought the SEH route and I'm playing it all over again, this time in TSW2. Just for kicks. And achievements. I love this route!
Yes, in general everything runs very well. The old Bakerloo line still shows some microstuttering (used to be MACROstuttering on PS4!), but nothing serious. And as an underground fan, I always loved that route, even with its problems.
I get major framerate dips on XSX, especially on the newer routes like Linke Rheinstrecke and Oldenburg, the latter of which freezes momentarily at some points. Even Niddertalbahn has obvious dips to the low 40s at some points near stations. The older routes are mostly fine at 60 fps though, according to the in-game framerate counter. DTG should give you the option to lock the framerate at 30 fps if you ask me. Or 40 fps if your TV supports it.
