It won't now run on TSW2 despite clearly claiming that it will. This is a route that came out for TSW2 originally but has now been "fixed" to force mugs to downgrade to the awful TSW3.

Yeah, many thanks to the con artists at DTG for getting caught brazenly lying yet again.

 

You've downloaded the TSW2 version and it doesn't run? What happens?

 

I'll second the OP's thanks to DTG for the free route (for TSW3 and TSC) as well as the recent sale as I managed to pick up a couple of routes and a loco for the summer driving. Thank you, DTG.

I don't recall them ever claiming they are offering the TSW2 version for free, all the blurb I've seen states it's free for TSW3, for example.



And why would they want to provide free content for an obsolete product?

Already had the TSW version, but the TSC freebies appreciated and tucked away nicely in my collection.

I created this thread for me to pass on my thanks to DTG for gifting a route pack. I did not create so that you could complain due to your failings!!!!

 

I'm glad you did, reading the forums for the past few weeks since the free route was announced its no wonder we don't get such things often.

Between the boo boo crowd complaining that they brought LGV already and demanding an alternative freebie and now this clown who can't grasp it's a TSW3 promotion and calling DTG every name under the sun because he can't get it on TSW2, I'm willing to get DTG are regretting the day they came up with the idea

 

Just had a look at the TSW2 store in the Steam app, and...

 

Steam is working fine, but

is on PlayStation (5, I think) - where it's a bit more awkward compatibility wise.

They've got it, however PlayStation has automatically installed it for TSW3 rather than TSW2, which they want it for.

Instead of using their brain and trying to fix it, they decided to idiotically kick up a fuss and bring it here - and in turn suggesting to people that it only works with TSW3, bringing us here.

 

My first contact with DTG staff was to offer moral support after a patch release caused terrible problems to users which in many cases required a deletion and full re-installation. I thought that the level of vitriol staff were then subjected to was unwarranted yet a few years later I completely understand the anger and contempt users expressed as I now feel exactly the same.

I am a pretty chilled out person who often writes to companies & organisations to thank them for good service and to single out members of staff for praise when they have gone "above and beyond" dealing with me as a customer or user. I have even done that for individuals at DTG who have helped me solve some ssues.

I started out with a level of goodwill towards DTG as a company but is has been steadily eroded by botched decisions, poor products and especially false promises to fix problems. The latter is the most insulting and unforgivable and DTG are serial offenders. There is only so far you can push your valued customers (LOL) before they snap back and walk away with a life long hatred of your company. I have now reached that situation.

I regret having any interaction with DTG. I have had enough of the constant time wasting hassles from their over priced and buggy products. I have had enough of the false promises and the coercion to buy an unwanted half-baked product (TSW3). For all the money I have spent on this under performing flawed product I see this free route as some form of compensation that would cost DTG nothing.The free release of the French routes was a chance for DTG to slightly redeem themselves and rebuild some goodwill with disgruntled customers who refuse to waste their money downgrading to TSW3 but true to form... they blew it AGAIN.

Enough is enough. Good riddance to DTG. Keep the washed out annoying stuttering mess that is TSW3. Keep your buggy underwhelming TSW3 routes. Keep your ground breaking opening umbrellas!. Keep your free French routes. Keep bleeding the wallets of your faithful blubbering sychophants who see no wrong in all the mistakes you make.

 

You dont buy any new content (Impossible because you seem to think TSW3 is inferior when it really isn't) yet expect freebies from the company. Level 1000 entitlement right there.

And it seems like they are actually providing freebies to you (quite why is beyond me), just the PS store/you have messed up the install. Yet still you bite the hand that feeds you and instead of reaching out for help, turn abusive. Because thats precisely the way to get it fixed.

That's only a tiny minority. Even those of us who still enjoy TSW, the majority on these forums, are able to see the wrongs.
Only a few are oblivious to them, some choose to ignore it, and others give it as feedback.

Rants (like yours) help nobody.
Also, you already made a thread for the Free DLC thing, don't invade this one.

Ironic, considering your complaint was that you couldn't get the French DLC to download...

Well Tuesday as its a holiday here in the UK on Monday, which was another of his issues that they released the route before the long weekend.

Actually i found the Duplex is the most easiest bullet train I've driven in TSW. I still cannot master those Germans ICE up til now.

 

That's a point. Don't have a PS5, but I originally bought TSW2 on PS4, so I had a look there. LGV does indeed show as compatible and free, and has the stock description of being playable on TSW2 and TSW3. But unlike with Steam, going to the store starting from TSW2 in my library only allows me to redownload the DLCs I already own; there's no possibility of purchasing more. Basically, everything <= TSW2 has been deleted entirely by Sony (except, interestingly, the TSW2 New Journeys expansion--oversight?).

So if it's the case that "compatible" DLCs can henceforth only be purchased for and played on TSW3, Sony needs to make that clear in the listings. That seems like a Sony issue, not a DTG one. Though it would be good if DTG pointed this out to them.

For those using Xboxes (Xboxi?), how are things working there?

 

I don't think this is an oversight - Because TSW2's core game included Bakerloo, Köln and Sand Patch, New Journeys was just one package.
But, because TSW3 has them all as separate DLC, New Journeys was split into three as well; so New Journeys - as one, singular DLC - doesn't have a TSW3 Version to replace the TSW2 Version with.

 

I see Chas has become the latest munchkin to decide to try and start a anti Dovetail revolution, so prepare to meet him many times on the battlefield that is these forums, as I bet they're going to be highjacking plenty of threads just like every other munchkin with the same insane thought process before him.....

 

Perhaps DTG could give the munchkins their own little subforum, so they can all get together and moan about how a game none of them claim they own is worst then the game they do own.

 

Maybe so, but that's the beauty of the 'Ignore' function innit?

Thank you DTG for the free addon (and coincidental birthday gift).
The Series 200 is interesting to drive, I was surprised how much is covered by the tutorial.
The route itself looks nice around Marseille, but the LGV section is noticeably low detail with some strange geometry around rivers.

So far I did the tutorial and one service with a dual set where it felt like the rear set was not powered and only trailing, so I was late 4 minutes by the time I got to Avignon.
On the incline after the power change, I could not get over 120 km/h, but in tutorial I was able to speed up despite the 2,5% incline. Does anybody have any advice? Is there some setup I've overlooked?

 

The arrival at Marseille is bugged. 2 services out of 2 ended on the wrong platform.

 

The problem with Ignore is that the more people who use it, the fewer there are who can see and rebut the posts. Some might consider that a victory, depending on the original motivation.

 

I don't disagree with your premise, however, in these forums (and elsewhere) there is a tendency to slide down the slope into bickering rather than rational conversation-- I find that rather tiring. Also, I believe that the ignore function is reversable.

I was one who tried one, although admittedly mine was a bit more successful.

As for the free DLC, I recently bought Marseille to Avignon for TSW3 on PC when it was on sale so it was annoying seeing it go free! That said I already own every French DLC DTG have made so I didn't benefit from this at all, but at least it'll encourage people who usually wouldn't pick it up to play it and hopefully enough interest will be garnered to justify a new French DLC for TS or TSW. As for the route in TSW, I enjoy playing it but it's still flawed, being too short and with poor scenery. That's the opposite of the Train Simulator version of Marseille to Avignon which is among the prettiest routes DTG have ever made. Plus the extension to Lyon makes the route one of the longest in TS (even if the extension has slightly worse scenery, but for the extra journey time I can't complain). Strasbourg Karlsruhe is also a fun route and has a nice variety of stock, including a new variant of the TGV Duplex and adding TVM to the ICE 3M (even if they added it to the wrong train since ICE 3Ms no longer run to France and instead New ICE 3s do it, and the TS model is brilliant but without TVM... Life sucks, then you die.)

 

And I would like to say thank you that as a former full-payer (and thus supporter of the TSW) who already owns the route, I have none of it. Not.

 

Do you feel this every time anything you've purchased then gets discounted? No you go on multiple manufacturers websites complaining you paid full price and now 2 years later the same product is 50%?

No difference here, it's a discount on a product which I already own. Do I regret buying this route for the price I paid for it? Not at all.

Stop being envious when others are getting a better deal later down the line.

I don't think the free promotion was meant for people who already own everything. I'm not sure what you were expecting.

 

Having had LGV for a long time, I reckon there will be many players who had passed up on it, even in sales, who will be pleasantly surprised at what great fun it is to travel at those speeds in a well modelled train. All for free as well.

And everyone lived happily ever after. The end.

 

Thanks DTG I enjoyed the route, normally I only play German content, but I liked this one very much. Looking forward to see the TGV again in new DLCs.

 

Fully agree with you, stujoy. Got LGV quite a while ago on a whim in a sale and was pleasantly surprised. It may be a one-trick-pony along some (mostly) straight track, but the modelling of the TGV more than makes up for it. Have fun, everyone

 

After considerable confusion, I managed to download the TSC version, but TSC crashes to the desktop every time I try to run an activity. Here's hoping someone can guess what's going wrong.

 

Normally, I would not bother to download a passenger-based route, but not wanting to look a gift route in the mouth I accepted this one. So far, I've only run the tutorials and the "Depot Day Services" activity (which cleverly reinforces the tutorials via constant repetition), but I may just get up the gumption to try a passenger run -- eventually.

I like LGV, but anywhere bar Marseille doesn't fit this description for sure.

 

I don’t understand the complaint about it not working in TSW2. I usually play on Xbox One but I downloaded TSW2 on the PC when it was free from Epic. I successfully downloaded LGV for free yesterday from Epic and it plays just fine.

 

I think the issue is on PlayStation and, perhaps, Steam.

 

Why should I be jealous? Of course it's nice for those who don't own the route yet. That's not what I was talking about.

My concern is that just not all users are rewarded for loyalty. And that can be criticized without being defamed as a jealous person. I would have wished otherwise. That all players would be considered. But well, unpopular opinion probably.

But be that as it may, I treat everyone to the free route and wish them a lot of fun.

 

Noone has been rewarded for loyalty, the add-on is available for free to literally everyone who has a Steam, Epic, Xbox, PS or GFW account whether they do or do not own TSC or TSW

The LGV route wasn't given away as a thankyou reward to Loyal customers. It was given away to celebrate the take over by French game producers Focus Entertainment. As LGV is the only French route produced by DTG, It makes it the only available route to gift.

Aside from the few miles of track when leaving Marseilles, LGV is the worst route I have ever seen in TSW....and when the sun shines the above happens every single time (even without the snow) so maybe not so visually stunning after all.
