Whenever I spawn in, the alarm sounds continously and none of the main controls work such as the throttle and brake, afb/kvb etc, cannot drive or use anything on the train at all. All that works is the camera controls. It seems that this is only happening for 3rd party repaints aswell. I've tried verifying game caches but that seems it hasn't done anything. Anyone know the reason why this is.
Sounds like scripting issues... probably only thing you can do atm is wait for the next core update which is currently in work, and not use repaints till the issues are fixed. All official DTG content works fine. As you have not given an example (route/loco/scenario) I can neither confirm or deny your statement.
The loco I was trying to use was the TGV duplex. In terms of routes, the routes are fine. The problem seems whenever I use the 3rd party repaints. Whenever I used official DTG content I was fine.
Can you give me the link to one repaint that is failing? Might check on it later (shouldn't be causing issues if it really only is a repaint - maybe more stuff is modded?)
I don't know how to make a link to the specific repaint so this is the most I do https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/entry/3899-tgv-thalys-pack-v7-1/ Or https://www.rwcentral.com/files/file/518-el-sncf-tgv-thalys-megapack-v71/ Or https://www.railsim-fr.com/forum/index.php?/files/file/1522-thalys-und-tgv/ Also just to update you, it looks like it's specifically the reseau repaints that are the ones with the issue. All the other repaints work fine and allow me to drive the train "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\TGVReseauPack01"
As mentioned in the other thread on the same subject you started https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...-how-to-install-this-3rd-party-repaint.70430/ The reskins are broken since the update and you will have to wait for the Author to fix their work
I can also send you a picture of what log mate says if this helps. Yeah, I'm just trying anyway just to see if i get something to change. Its not all bad though since some of the reskins work for me now, just not the ones I want to use
You cant. DTG would have to give you a way to do this. If you make backups of your Railworks folder you can play from that backup. Purchase a 500 GB SSD and a USB cable, connect it via a USB port and back up your copy. It will be safe from any updates. One advantage is if you reskin something or modify a file, if you screw up you can copy and paste from your backup.
Yeah i definitely don't have money to purchase that right now, I'm only playing on my laptop at the moment. It's looking like I'm just going to have to wait for the developer of the reskin to fix it
You don't have to roll it back, stupid suggestion, - just wait for DTG to release a Fix for the problem which is being worked on. You can still drive a lot of other DLC.
My comment was directed to DTG. Rolling it back would have removed a lot of grief and made all things playable as before the update while they worked out the kinks. I, as well as many others do not think that this suggestion is as stupid as you think it is. There are no other options but to wait. I am rather dubious about the next "update" fixing everything and what it will break after release. How far will we go down the rabbit hole? DTG's efforts to improve has made many of my favorite locomotives as well as the routes and scenarios unplayable for about a month. Do you not think I have some validity in my observations and statements regarding this debacle? I would think that you would have to admit that the outcome had less than desirable results, putting it mildly.
You seem to be of the idea that the game should not be updated because doing so can cause problems. They only way for the game to improve it to change things and there is not enough staff to check every piece of DLC. When DTG introduced the 64bit option there were problems for some DLC and it got fixed. You have to be patient for the problems to be sorted out. Although you say your reply was not directed to DTG the OP did not know that as asked the question about rolling it back.
I never intimated or outright said that the game should not be updated, as I have said several times in various threads, it should have been released as a beta with a roll back option especially when old base coding is being removed. DTG could have received all the feedback it needed, then the update could have been rolled back at player discretion and we all could have moved on as before the update and not wait for over a month. No harm done. Sometime bad decisions need to be called out instead of being complacent with the status quo.
