I love these videos. It's fascinating to see the stretch from Guide Bridge to Manchester as it was before I was born. I remember the 1500DC line. It was closed when I was 2 years old, but I remember the freight trains well. I had relatives in Glossop and Dinting, so the 76s and the 506 units are treasured memories for me.
Great video! I've waited years for a documentary like this. I've spotted a few remnants of the line over the last 4 years: an old 1500v DC substation on approach to Guide Bridge from Hyde; the first air shaft for Woodhead 3 on top of the Pass, and my personal favourite, the abandoned signal gantry just beyond Hadfield station. Such a shame to see such a unique line cast away so easily.
