With the recent MML update and the information on the unique scenario coming with Manchester - H & G, I think its time a proper guard operation system be implemented. It's good that Skyhook added the fake guard into the 158 because it's pretty unrealistic without it and it makes drive more immersive (even if you still close the doors yourself), same goes with trains like the 166 & 323, it's annoying that I have to pretend there's a guard onboard so I can do the proper procedure. It should at least be a toggle in settings. It doesn't even need to be fancy, it could just be an imaginary person in the back of the train that closes the door and gives you a double buzz when loading is done, that's all I want, if TSC can do it I don't see why TSW can't, it's been like 5 years and we're on the 3rd game this is a feature that needs development I think.
I agree. I cannot understand why a feature which was not only in Rail Simulator in 2008 but MSTS back in 2002, is not available in TSW. It is ridiculous and immersion breaking when you have to close doors yourself whether they are sliding type doors or manual doors.
Hey - we covered some of the detail in the Glossop Line and Inside Development sections of yesterday's Roadmap: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live...22.689527251.1686066930-1884237421.1686066930 We talked about it here too: https://www.youtube.com/live/VK-GtyxA1QA?feature=share&t=1084 The fact it's in a Scenario is really encouraging as a first step, and it'd be good to hear your feedback on it as a potential prototype. (this isn't a 'it's coming in the future!', but this is a bit of an experiment, and if you like it, we can investigate future stuff.
2 completely different things here. The one suggested by the OP (AI guard buzzing me off) allows me to drive trains more prototypically. The Guard scenario is complete opposite and is distracting me from driving trains. Give me more of number 1, and whilst I appreciate others wanting the 2nd I have no interest in in it. Not saying DTG shouldnt explore such features but just DONT force me to complete such things in order to complete the journey story. Which right now is my biggest fear and why until I hear confirmation such scenario wont be part of journey mode I wont be planning on adding Glossop to my collection OR any other DLC which features such (IMO) gimmicks.
I definitely think the driver needs to be absolved of operating the doors on stock where it is not prototypical to do so. The doors should close once station duties are complete or even in the case of slam door stock be closed by the last passenger to board or alight as was encouraged to save station delays. And yes, I'll say it again - where trains are partially off the platform, whether as a result of short platforms or driver errors, doors should not be opening off the platform face. In the case of slam door stock, doors not on the platform should stay shut. Power door stock (or slam doors with CDL) should require the driver to adjust the stopping position, unless fitted with SDO (Selective Door Operation). In the case of Sprinters bookd to call at short platforms, usually the Guard would just open one door, typically at the front to allow passengers access.
On Linke Rheinstreke they do precisely that following todays update!! DTG JD why wasnt this sang loudly about, a much requested feature slipped in unannounced?
Further evidence- this is on service RE (3405) Bad Kreuzen to Frankfurt am Main (and yes I overshot considerably)
100% agree. Having the buzz, buzz on the 158 has made me realise how much immersion is taken away not having it. A guard mode where your the guard I've no interest in though.
