First, I would like to note that, despite my previous negativity towards SHG and Jane, I have now bought the route. Given SHG's track record, I wasn't sure they would deliver on the promises, but seems that isn't the case anymore. Good job (or rather, it would be once you guys un-bork the patch's release). Looking forward to seeing all the improved scenery and such, once it downloads.

Does "urgent" mean "will be included in the 'imminent' patch to Patch 1" or "will be included in Patch 2 in however many months"? I mean, you got my money already, but stuff like that really makes me think I should've waited a bit more. It's not like this is an easily-missable service buried somewhere in the timetable, it's a scenario. Supposedly the curated-est of the curated content the route has to offer. And if it's bugged in a way that prevents completion, that's really not good.

Another concern is that one of the Steam achievements is tied to completing all scenarios. Does that mean the achievement isn't obtainable either? I understand most people here don't care about stuff like "achievements" and "medals," but this is still a video game. So if there are mechanics such as medals and achievements, they must work properly. And judging by this thread, they don't.

Any timeframe for the "fix to the patch," btw? It's been "imminent" for days now.

morning all, thank you for your reports above. I have logged them with the appropriate teams.

In terms of hotfix, I am still waiting for feedback. Everything is ready to go, it is just sorting a slot. I have no control over that.

Patch 2 will be done in very short order and certainly will not be months hopefully :) We want to move on to the exciting new content, so like yourselves, want everything solid first.

    Jane

I find it amazing how the devs give a working virtual guard routine and people start complaining that it takes too long. Do you guys work for the dft or something lol

Amazing feature, I really hope the 323 will have the same.

It seems some want realism except when it irritates them! I like the feature. It would be nice for it a) to be back ported if possible to other routes and b) the next step to be the guard closing the doors also (or the passengers where applicabe), which for me is still the biggest barrier to realism regarding train despatch on TSW.

    Hi Jane,

really enjoying the route so far. The 158 sounds a bit like a lawn mower I owned a few years back, but it´s a fun drive.

Could I kindly ask you to confirm what stock from what routes layer into MML, so that we know what must be installed in the TSW3 environment to get some more traffic going?

    Thanks in advance! :)

I agree. It’s supposed to be a SIMULATOR yet we get people moaning about not being able to shoot straight off the line, and not getting little gold stars…. By all means criticise if the unit has some inaccuracy like coach lettering being inaccurate, wipers not working correctly etc, That’s part of normal game improvement and progress but I take big issue with people moaning about ‘more realistic’ features. Call me pedantic, but I’d like the unit to behave as close to real life as possible, as it stands, I personally think the class 158 is one of the best and most realistic units in the game to date.

Haven't played the new system yet but I would ask the following:
IRL the guard won't be waiting til time to leave to close the doors, and the entire platform procedure should be complete BEFORE the leaving time
If the guard in game is waiting until departure time to START the departure process then this would not be typical, indeed it would cause issues on the timetable as people need to "rush" to get to the next station on time

When I'm operating the doors I will generally start the closing process between 8 and 10 seconds before departure time, meaning I set off when the timetable says I should
Many stations in the UK have signs saying "Doors close 30 seconds before departure" and this does seem to hold true, so the guard in game should be doing this.

As I say, I haven't played it yet so haven't confirmed, but that's how it SHOULD work in my view

The way it is at the moment the player still initiates the door open and close as usual. The procedure isn't automatic. You can choose to press the door close button/key as soon as your passenger boarding meter has finished. Being as the dwell times are reasonable, you still depart on time.

Is it not automated? Ahh damn.

EDIT: It is automated, just opened doors and doors shut straight after and guard buzzed. Just did 5S91 Derby to East croft ECS.

So does this mean I only have to open the doors now and the guard will do everything else and I can move off once he buzzes

Same, I really enjoy it, adds more realism as well.

The 465 used to be my favourite Multiple Unit on TSW, The 158 has smashed it out of the park.

I didn't know the close procedure was automatic. I thought we still had to press the door close key?

Me too. I’ve asked Alex but waiting a reply, but his post seems to suggest that. It would be really cool if the guard does close for you.

Alexjjones6024 has just posted that the door closing is automated. Awaiting his reply to confirm but that would be really cool if it is.

jane-skyhook just to follow up on the lack of aws audio when using external cameras on the class 158, it seems that it occurs on PS4, PS5 and Xbox (so basically all consoles and not pc)

hopefully this can be fixed, as otherwise this is shaping up to be the best route in tsw for me right now!

Just loaded up that ECS service, put reverser in neutral, opened doors and then they shut a minute later automatically and then the 2 buzz from the guard came through around 15 seconds later and yeah, I was good to go haha.

Oh, ok that’s disappointing. I was looking forward to getting home and trying it myself.
Can’t see how you can be doing anything wrong, after all it’s either automated or it’s not;)

Apologies marcsharp2 is correct. Seemingly it is programmed only to instruct an automated closing procedure on ECS services as you are not officially stopping at the station you are spawned at. So unfortunately this won't work on passenger services it seems. I'm sure this can be programmed in but most likely, what you see is what you get sadly.

Yes I do this too. Usually when the yellow circle is around 3 quarters of the way around is enough time to start the door closing process. Just like in real life, the signs and announcements say ‘doors close up to 40 seconds before departure time’ etc

Hi Jane. Enjoying the updated route. Are there plans in next update to make depots look busier with more rolling stock and locos. Leicester is very empty.

First impressions: the Mastery doesn't effing work. Amazing. It says "Complete a Timetable between Eastcroft Depot and Nottingham." I've done like 5 such services in an attempt to get it to count. Didn't work.

And I encountered a misaligned precision stop box in one of them. I was off by 2.5 yards and got penalised 10 points (instead of 1 or 2).

Literally the first drive. 5 minutes in, and there's 2 things wrong already. Man, I feel so disappointed. I'm never again getting taken in by the hype. One time I make an exception and this is the result. I can only imagine how bad this route must've been before the patch, if stuff like broken scenarios and a broken Mastery are still in. Apparently, they weren't deemed "first priority."

Again as I said in the other thread, Mml Mastery works absolutely fine for me and as someone else in that thread said there are more polite ways to post your feedback.

OMG SOMETHING DOESN'T WORK AS WELL AS IT SHOULD, THE GAME IS BROKEN, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!

Yeah I get sick of it as well, I've issues with how DTG run things and have learnt that what they say and what they do are two very different things, but the people on the shop floor who make these DLCs from the ground up and work hard to make them for us have my respect, especially those at Skyhook who have worked hard with the improvements. But nope, people just wanna rant and rave as though they themselves have been insulted.

I do it "per unit"... most new ones are between 7 & 8 seconds... HST and Steam trains less than 1 second.
So in the case of an automated guard I would hope they're allowing the train to "release" before the departure time by starting the door close process probably ten seconds before departure when there's standing time available after the loading process is complete

Your point being? You can caps lock at me all day and talk about "hard work" and "respect," but the fact remains that I encountered 2 bugs, one of them rather major, in the first 5 minutes of playing. That's simply not good enough. I'm not "ranting and raving," I'm telling the devs that the Mastery doesn't work (for me, anyway) and that stopping points can be misaligned. Very different :)

It isn't negativity people get upset at, it is how you express it. If you addressed a comment to me like that you would at best get ignored.

Show me a game where there isn't any bugs, go on, name one. The Mastery issue has been around since day one and is a game issue not a Skyhook issue. I bet you love it when despite working hard you get nothing but criticism back because someone is very mildly inconvenienced. Assuming you work at all.

I mean, I didn't just pay you 40 bucks to immediately get a bad experience, so I wouldn't talk to you like that anyway. Customer dissatisfaction is very different from normal forum interactions, I believe.

There's nothing wrong with negativity and expressing constructive criticism. Look at every thread, many of us have done so. Theres just a way to go about it in a respectful way, we're all people here just like the devs. Jane and SHG have kicked it out of the park engaging with the forum setting a new bar for DTG and others. Them being so open and honest is refreshing to see. The forums can be a very harsh and critical place at times. The least we can do is try and be respectful towards them :)

You're being very rude right now, on behalf of a company that's selling a premium-priced product. Stop shilling. "Assuming you work at all" — you shouldn't say things like that, that's, again, very rude. And even if I didn't work, that'd be none of your business.
Obviously I don't love it when I get criticised despite hard work, but that's just how things are. Also, this "show me a bug-free game" argument is both extremely disingenious and done to death. Yet somehow it keeps popping up every time someone is being critical.

The Mastery not working is very much a route-specific issue, as every Mastery is different for every route. The one "game-wide" Mastery issue that comes to mind is that sometimes it's not loading properly. That's fixed by going back out of the menu, then back in, to make it load again. The fact that some milestones don't count properly isn't a game-wide issue at all.

    1. Sorry I just don't see how marcsharp2 is being rude especially considering the posts you've made.

    2. While you may have a point about the hole every game has bugs has been done to death argument, it is still a very valid point nonetheless, besides there are far far worse games then tsw3 bug wise that are out there right now, just look at Gollum or Redfall for example.

"Considering the posts I've made" — sure, I could've been nicer. See, I just don't think a company is entitled to the same level of politeness as a person is. Jane, for example, has done, as a person, an exemplary job communicating and keeping us up to date. Applause for that. As people keep pointing out, she has set a new standard in how a dev should talk to the audience. The company, on the other hand, has just messed up the release of a patch that was supposed to fix priority issues. And even then, a scenario is unfinishable, making 1 out of 3 Steam achievements unobtainable, and a major game mechanic is broken entirely. All of these things required me minutes to see or confirm. I hope I explained myself :)
