home of my favourites Ant and Dec. What a good choice and the route features the LNER Azuma and LNER HST
Mate, you need a bit more detail but what I can tell you this route would be too long to realistically see in TSW at the moment. London to Peterborough or preferably Peterborough to York would be nice. It is a lovely route which I am lucky enough to experience most days of my life so would love to see part of it in game.
Yes its a good route but it would probably be too long for Dovetail games if you mean the full route . It would be nice to drive a class 91 somewhere on the route . Not sure about Ant n Dec though LOL
Oh look, another ECML request. Think DTG should have stickies for the ECML and WCML at the top of this sub so all these requests can be dropped in the same place. And as already pointed out numerous times we are never going to see a significant length of this route. At the southern end London to Peterborough would be pushing it. More like the Cross or Moorgate to Hitchin. Further north Darlington to Newcastle just about fits with the DTG short route paradigm. As regards era and motive power, we’ll late 70’s and early 80’s when the Deltics were still out and about would be my ideal setting.
I really hope we do not get a half-arsed ECML, if they want to do it in sections they can do it how it’s done in TSC which is London - Peterborough, Peterborough - York, York - Newcastle, Newcastle - Waverley (same for the WCML)
If we all had a pound for every time the Ecml (and Wcml) was requested, we'd probably all by millionaires by now.
We can only hope that one day Dtg do decide that it is worth building, the Ecml and Wcml ain't the most requested routes for no reason.
We will probably just get a short straight section like the GW out of Paddington, that's if they can be bothered making it
Personally I think King's Cross - Peterborough is the most realistic option if it's in a modern day setting as it would only require 1 brand new train, the class 800/801, we already have the 387 and very soon we'll have the 700 too.
Still too long based on previous UK releases - Brighton line is 55 miles whereas KGX to Peterborough is 80 miles. They might surprise us but I wouldn't stake any money on it.
76* miles, and the advantage the ECMLsouth has it that it has 4 less stations than BML, as well as like two trains predominantly on the ECML being added, realistically all that’s needed is the 80x and the Class 717 and 91. 91 would be dlc and the 80xs are all the same trains
Ok how about Manchester Piccadilly - Crewe, seems reasonable in length and we'd only need the 390 as the new train as some of the local services are operated by 323's.
Well once you add in the various yards, depots and spurs off to the various branches, it's going to come in at around 80 miles. Not going to end abruptly at Peterborough platform ends!
No idea but sometimes we don't find if they have a licence for a certain operator until the route is announced, we didn't know they had a Northern licence until Glossop was announced.
perhaps one of the more northern sections of the ecml. There is much less traffic and stations than the south so is easier for dtg to make
Edinburgh to Newcastle is mainly countryside and would only require 6 new stations with most of Waverley already modelled. Appreciate distance wise is longer but shouldn’t be quite as intensive and has the very scenic cliffs coming up to Berwick, as well as the border bridge. Think it would be spectacular. Also has the added bonus of being a natural crew change point at Newcastle to add some realism for a partial route. The ScotRail 385 can also be reused for local services from Waverley to North Berwick.
Oh I don’t disagree and I would lap up a decent chunk of the ECML, preferably in BR Classic era, but I’d also take 91’s with Mark IV’s and HST’s.
At this moment in time suggestions like this one can just be left without reply. There always seems to be an inquest after every one. Invariably the pattern goes something like this… 1st reply - add more detail, look at my extra long waffly suggestions for the best template 2nd reply - far too long, you’d be lucky to get a to b 3rd reply - I’d prefer b to c 4th reply - DTG don’t have x y or z license 5th reply - I want it set in BR Blue period with a proper restaurant car 3 or 4 times a week we go through the same.
At this point I agree, there needs to be an ECML/WCML megathread pinned so ppl can make these suggestions there because the ECML/WCML are by far the most suggested routes on TSW
