All my scenery has ground cover white, like snow, even though the set scenery is summer. No idea why or how to fix.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? White area only appears around tracks.

Run an integrity verification and clear cache.
I had a similar effect once but that was showing the Missing Texture all over it. It was a one-time glitch.
Given it's multiple routes and these shouldn't share assets, I'm not entirely sure.
Shouldn't be scenery density, quality or stuff like that.
Also try and disable all mods if you have any. Something may try to reshade close textures but failing to do so.
As such might also be a driver issue or similar, except for not crashing.

You could also rename your existing installation and install afresh, just a couple routes.

Go in to your Steam Client > Library
On Train Simulator Right Click > Properties then click on DLC
You will see this box - search for Great Western
    DLC.png
Untick the box next to the route - after a few seconds re-tick the box

Whilst you are looking at DLC have you got these two items installed?

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/208306/Train_Simulator_US_Loco__Asset_Pack/

Start the game and check to see if the textures are still missing

Strange thing is, New York - New Haven is self-contained (no dependencies) and delivers all assets in RSC\NewYorkNewHaven.

Looks like a complete file verification, and cache clearing (Settings>Tools), as suggested by Andras, is necessary.

There was one time I was working with files to get very old content working in TS. I copied over the RailSimulator folder in its entirety and when I did the whole thing was corrupted and had no textures when loaded. A file that wasn't there before (MD5) was causing it, as when I deleted it everything went back to normal. Unfortunately the process to figure out the issue meant I had to reinstall Train Simulator twice and lost all my reskins. westway in addition to unticking the affected routes, find their asset folder and if they're still there route folder (use NameMyRoute in the RailWorks directory to find the route folder) and delete both. Then reinstall them via Steam and see if there are any issues.

I am having similar issues when cloning 2 routes. Sherman Hill and Canadian Mountain Passes. I clone both routes and scenarios and am missing tracks an ground texture on the clones. Un-ticked and ticked 2x. Manually deleted and reinstalled the routes, did a file verify. When I copied and paste my Railworks folder to a backup drive I lost track and ground textures on the backup for these 2 routes on the original folder.. All since the original update.

Interesting. Though I doubt it has anything to do with the update - nothing has been changed concerning these assets. And what you are seeing here is not missing textures.

I will clone Sherman Hill and see if that happens to me too. If so, I'll check the paths in the RouteProperties.xml and Template Route.

Edit: Cloned route is working fine.

There must be some other issue on your end. If I look closely at westway's last screenshot, the white texture is

    a) not missing (else it would display MISSING TEXTURE and the black/yellow lines)
    b) transparent - you can partially see the gravel through it.

So if this persists after Steam has restored the files, I suspect a problem with the graphics card / driver / settings. Or are you playing the DX12 Experimental? Or played a scenario straight from the editor after changing the season?

westway Out of curiosity, AMD or Nvidia?

Might be interesting and informative if people started posting their RailWorks file path directory when stating they have these kind of issues, I have a sneaky suspicion that read write permissions may be causing an issue.

Specifically anyone trying to add content to /Program Files (x86)/..

Yes Reef - that can cause issues - but they'd be more severe. NYNH assets is one single .ap file - you'd lose all assets. What's shown here is not missing assets but display issues.

(Note you can get into trouble when copying files if you choose backup paths that exceed the 256 character limit [MAX_PATH], if you copy via cmd console you see the errors.)

I'm pretty sure this is a graphics hardware or driver version/settings issue if the Steam verification doesn't resolve the problem.

Before updating drivers, I would additionally make the "delete content\playerprofiles.bin" check - especially after a hardware update.

If the theory about permissions is correct, setting RailWorks64.exe (or equivalents) to run as an administrator could help.

Running programs as administrator is generally not a good idea. Only do it for installing trustworthy software.

You can avoid all these troubles by either:

    1) Creating a Steam Library folder and install/move RailWorks there (see Steam settings)

    2) Initially install Steam to C:\Steam instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

What do you see when you access the route directly in Build Mode (not scenario)? We must find out if it is route or scenario related.

I have a slight suspicion it is scenario-related. I know of cloning issues with scenarios not being authored in english and not using .lan files (and probably being marked as Original DLC). ScenarioNetworkProperties.bin then loses connection to track infrastructure where scenario-based markers are placed due to marker name / ID mismatch. A good example is missing tracks in Allgäubahn QD, for which I've provided a patch.

You are missing assets due to cloning for some reason - this is a totally different thing than what the original post is about (yet very interesting)

So have you tried updating your GFX drivers? Are you still there?

All drivers up to date. I deleted the route again by unchecking. Checked to reinstall. The route is showing in the career drive menu but when going to the editor it does not show under routes or scenarios so I can't delete it from here. The only other way to delete all files connected to this is to delete the route under NameMyRoute access.
I can't think that this is directly a system/ drive/ GPU issue because all other routes work as expected. The route and scenarios all appear in NameMyRoute but not in the editor route listing.
Other than a clean reinstall, what I am trying to avoid, I am a bit flummoxed.I will reinstall . Something is corrupted.

I was addressing the OP whose problem is a completely different one than yours, of course rwaday there's no rendering issue on your side so you don't need to update drivers.

As I cannot look into your files, all that I can say has been said. If the clone works in build mode, but not in scenarios, it's related to scenario cloning.

I clone a route with scenarios, open the clone to edit and missing ground textures tracks and roadbed. Only happens on 2 routes.I filed a report with DTG. I have tried to import files from the original route but no luck. All since the first update.

Again, how does the route look when you enter it via Build>Route and NOT scenario?

It is missing some ground textures and tracks and roadbed when in the editor. post #24

Without loading a scenario first, just to make that clear? A scenario can modify track infrastructure (ScenarioNetworkProperties.bin) and scenery (Scenery folder).

Let us know DTG's reply to your ticket :)

Order of operations. Go to build menu, select Canadian Mountain Passes, clone route only, open copy of Canadian Mountain Passes in the editor. No tracks, roadbed and missing some ground textures.

Tried Sherman Hill before without issues - and Canadian Mountain Passes also clones 100%.

No doubt that it is something on my system. Clearing a drive at the moment, I will install a fresh copy of TSC to that and test. I have manually deleted both of these routes and reinstalled with the same results. So it is something deeper. I have verified files twice so a file verify is not solving this issue. I wish that I could figure a way to isolate the needed files and just copy them over as a temporary measure. I still can edit and create scenarios in the original copy of both routes. I just like to keep "clean" copies of these and make changes to the copies. Thanks for your help in this matter.

Thanks for the info you posted at RWA. Just an update: So What I did per my understanding of your explanation, I deleted(renamed) the Networks, Scenery, TimeOfDay (AP 2.0) folders in the original copy of Canadian Mountain Passes and made a clone with scenarios. I open up the drive menu and selected Copy of CMP and still missing ground textures, and tracks and roadbed. In the original Route folder I only have RouteInformation, Scenarios, MainContent and RouteProperties. When I delete the Original route folder and reinstall those other files return.

  32. torfmeister

    torfmeister Guest

That is strange. Make sure you ONLY have MainContent.ap in the original route folder.

Also, a TimeOfDay folder must not be in the route folder, these files are part of the route's assets not content. So to apply AP weather, you'd need to copy the ToD folder to Assets\JL\CP\

Methodology used, uninstalled and reinstalled CMP. Verified only Main Content .ap in folder. cleared cache, restart TSC, clone CMP with routes. Exit build, enter drive menu, load route no change. Frustrating. Side note, conformed VNHRR Hi Line issue.

I did the cloning process again with only the MainContent.ap in the CMP folder.Ended up with the same results. Still only Stevens Pass and CMP are the only ones having this issue. I will come back to this once the scripting issues are solved even though they are probably not related. I preformed the 12 step program from DTG and sent them all related files.

I could not get a proper complete cloning using the editor,(see post #34) however, I cloned the route with TS_Tools and the ground textures, roadbed and track are all there. Any body have an idea why?
