Actually, adding the cost of replacing their drivetrains, Pacers wound up costing much the same as the far better Sprinters

I get the feeling this route could have a lot more info announced but is embargoed by the Glossop release being ahead. May be wrong but the scenic shot seemed advanced. A bit of info on the region its in would do no harm....

Yes I feel like once Glossop is out we may well be bombarded with info, I mean I am not complaining as I'd much prefer it in bulk than be dripfed info over months. The scenery is looking lovely as you say and when you combine that with the era, dare I say, it may well be the best route release this year, providing all the gameplay side of things works.

I agree this route has loads of potential but I would be distrought if they added pacers with it, not only as I can’t stand the sight of them and also it would mean 40s would not be in it as they had finished by the time the production pacers were working.

That's my worry as already expressed, it will end up being a mashup like WCL and most definitely not "BR Blue".

Yes it would be a shame not to have 40s but for me not having a layer with Peaks would disappoint me a bit too, though they lasted until 88 so hopefully I should be able to enjoy the peaks on another route. Anyway I feel I've waffled a bit there, so sorry mate!

I agree I think we should be fine for peaks and duffs well they go without saying which is anoying as peaks and buckets are so much better.

Agreed, personally the 70s was the best decade and one which I would really like to see in TSW, though as you say with the pacer hint and the signage in the screenshot a mid to possibly late 80s route seems to be what we are getting from JT this time around.

If it does turn out to be a mixed era route then it will be a hard pass from me unless its absolutely top notch and by that I mean Niddertalbahn standard.

I really hope they don't do a Rivet and DTG special and fill it with a random assortment. Being JT I hope they stick to the realism because we could get such a great route from it.

Especially with all of the stock we already have. Wasn't aware of the conflicts with Pacers and 40s time line wise. Do the pacers conflict with anything else we have in TSW so far?

Off the top of my head, I don't think so, no.

I do get the feeling that JT are quite sticklers for detail so hopefully it won't be like WCL. I certainly hope the loco hauled trains include a brake vehicle as if they don't then that would be enough for me to not purchase it. I suspect JT will not want to produce something so unprototypical though.

Whilst I would always take a first generation DMU or classic diesels over a Pacer, I think for me, we are at the point when second generation BR units are disappearing and the Pacer in its original condition was around in what was a interesting period of BR with many first generation diesels and the second generation units running alongside. It sounds like there will be plenty of loco hauled action anyway with freight and seasonal passenger. Hopefully the class 101 will sub in as well.

I am now fairly certain that the new JT route will be Preston to Blackpool featuring the Class 142 Pacers. My question however is...

Will we get both GMPTE orange and brown and Provincial two tone blue liveries as both could be found around the area at the time of launch?

None of us know, and while we can speculate as much as you like, equally we could wait for the route to be released

You are correct that officially we don't know. There are however too many clues pointing in that direction. Hence my question.

Speculation is part of the fun and build up. Although it can lead to disappointment of course.

Where's the fun in that?! And besides if JT and DTG didn't want a bit of harmless speculation they wouldn't have released the screenshot or the veiled reference to a Pacer (which I'm now getting quite keen to drive) in the first place. No one is forcing you to read this thread.

I mean I thought the title was pretty self explanatory "The (1st) Just Trains Route: Speculation & Discussion"

Im not a pacer fan but I'm still looking forward to the route itself. Just having some old BR stock will be a refreshing change from the modern stuff! Be equally interested in seeing a pacer and maybe seeing it layer into other routes :)

I could not agree more i hate pacers but I am really looking forward to the route as long as it has a few decent diesels but unfortunatly if it turns out to have pacers if they were strict on the traction 40s would not be in it but you never know it might not envolve pacers. If the route did include Preston Blackpole my guess would still be Man Vic-Blackpool as it is about the same distance as mentioned, Man Vic is already in the game, you could have lot’s of ai services towards Leeds & you would have 3 important sations. And if I could choose a loco for the route I would not hesitate to say 25/3s as they sound hell, they worked lots of freight in the area and often sommer saturday stuff and in general passenger trains in the sommer & they could layer onto NTP.

This is looking good, love the screenshots on the JT site. I think this will be for me the most anticipated TSW route release for a few years.

I would have liked to have seen some more variety of coaching stock, some mark 1's in blue/grey or some mark 2 passenger brake vehicles. Still overall looks very positive so far.

Fantastic news it’s been along time pacers but no matter which side of pacer debate people sit on there’s no denying there reliability in terms of amount of years they’ve been going

The reliability and comfort of a Pacer isn't really what will define this DLC, is it.
