Before I start, I just want to say one quick thing. I tried writing a forum about the SWML being added along with the line via Claygate, as it's a route I really wanted to see and a route I was actually using when I was visiting the UK and stayed along that line. So, I'm going to see if South Western Metro could be a popular addition to TSW3. This route by the way, will be based in 2016. The South Western Metro would be a route added into the game, one that would feature the Hounslow loop (clockwise and anti-clockwise) as well as the line to Windsor & Eton Riverside, which by the way, is nearby Windsor Castle. Anyway though, let me explain the route. Route Information This route would not feature the lines to Wimbledon or Shepperton, but it will feature Strawberry Hill. Starting at London Waterloo, the line would make it's way South and then head west at Clapham Junction. It would stretch through Wandsworth and then after Barnes, the line would split between the Hounslow loop and the main metro route. It would then go through Richmond, which will serve as a connection between the overground and underground and South West Trains. The line would then proceed to Twickenham, which that stop would feature the line to Strawberry Hill branching off there. There will not be any lines to Shepperton in this route. After Whitton, the line would branch off to the "main" part of this route, the Hounslow loop. After serving Hounslow, the clockwise loop trains would make their way through Kew Bridge and rejoin the main Metro route. Getting back on track though, the trains to Windsor would serve Feltham (which has a connection to Heathrow Airport) and then branch off at Staines, serving four stops on the Windsor branch. Route Stops - Windsor Route London Waterloo Vauxhall Queenstown Road (Battersea) Clapham Junction Wandsworth Town Putney Barnes (BRANCHOFF TO HOUNSLOW) Mortlake North Sheen Richmond St Margarets Twickenham Strawberry Hill (Branched off from Twickenham) Whitton (BRANCHOFF TO HOUNSLOW) Feltham (BRANCHOFF TO HOUNSLOW) Ashford Staines Wraysbury Sunnymeads Datchet Windsor & Eton Riverside Route Stops - Hounslow Loop Hounslow (From Whitton and Feltham) Isleworth Syon Lane Brentford Kew Bridge Chiswick Barnes Bridge (From Barnes) Rolling Stock The Class 450 is the bulk of the SWR fleet and was also the bulk of the SWT fleet. It's operated on semi-fast suburban routes such as London - Bakingstoke, London - Alton, etc. It's also used on routes to Reading and the routes to Alton and Weybridge. For longer distance services, it's used on routes to Southampton, the Lymington branch, the PDL, the Southampton-Portsmouth & SS route and sometimes the route to Bournemouth. It was first built in 2004 and still serves the network today. The Class 455 will be one of the three trains used on this route. This will be the bulk of the Suburban services. It's also used on the SWML stopping services between London Waterloo - Woking. The train was built in the 1980s and is used mainly for suburban services on the SWML and routes to Effingham Junction, etc. It's also used on the lines to Shepperton, Windsor and Reading. The Class 458 Juniper is used on Suburban services and is more of a "backbone" to the Suburban line. It's used on services to Reading and Hounslow, and will be one of the primary trains used on the Hounslow Loop. It was built around the 2000s as the 458/0 (I think) and is actually getting a refurbishment to run on the PDL. This is why the SWM services should be added to this game.
I'd love this as it's my local line! But you may as well also extend it to Reading for the semi fast services and the slow Weybridge services which branch off at Virginia Water
I don't know why they have not added SWT to the game even though it's been requested a lot and features several popular stations. I don't know if they either just hate SWT or they want to focus more on other areas. I'd like to see the SWML or the South Western Metro though, not the PDL as it has already been added to Train Simulator Classic.
Even if many players request the same thing, if dtg don't have the license, they won't make it. It's not because they hate swt which is an extreme argument to make. We don't know if dtg are in talks with swt or if it's been successful or not but you just got to be patient until it happens if ever.
I am aware that Dovetail doesn't have the license to SWR, but as SWT is defunct, I figured they could (probably) get the SWT license. The Midland Main Line is operated by EMT because they can't get the license to EMR.
That was kind of stupid of me though. I thought they had the SWT license because well... the PDL and SWML in TSC. I'm not sure if DTG made it or it was someone else.
I'd love seeing this becuase its my local line and we could use the announced thameslink 700 to emulate swr/swt 707s in case those wouldnt get added/700 copied and changed slightly. ik this is just a concept but id still love seeing it and it would also make clapham junction less bland and empty on the bml, ai services of this route could be on ther and services from bml on this.
Dtg did make it for tsc with pdl and swml but they need 2 separate licenses for tsc and tsw since they are 2 different simulators
I am not entirely sure, but since we have East Midland Trains, I think that the Stagecoach license has been acquired and we might be able to get South West Trains in the game. However, I do think we have too many routes into London. Maybe we could have Southampton to Bournemouth, I don't know.
That would be too many for a route, but it's an idea. However, I just want to see this route in 2011-ish.
Absolutely get it now the reason why I had to bring it up is very simple provided the modern Rolling Stock gets boring
What year would that be when they were in service? The reason why I went 1980-200s was that you have 4REP 4TC 4CIG 5WES Class 442 455 & 456 working together
I travelled around the Whitton Circle in around 1978 on an EPB and they were certainly in service in Kent up to the late 80’s as the wife and I caught one from Charing Cross to Sidcup and back.
EPB's left Wimbledon in 1984, the SUBs a little earlier. They were replaced initially by 508's which were replaced by the 455s that run today. Units visually similar to the EPB (HAPs?) ran on the Windsor Lines until the Network South East era. REPs, TCs and 5WES would only have been seen when diverted from the mainline through Surbiton. Of interest is the depot at Strawberry Hill which was used as a base for testing new units and home to an eclectic collection of historic departmental EMU's I can recommend this site as a reference for all things Southern EMU related (Rod Hull excepted...)
