do they actually work? i have been fooling around in the cab of the 185.2 for a couple nights in preparation for main-spessart bahn and have gotten most things working that I had no clue about (like the pzb) but cant for the life of me figure out these shunting controls.
Found this on the forums: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/db-br-185-2-shunting-controls.14365/
I have indeed tried setting the throttle to min, with both the reverser forwards and neutral, and nothing seems to happen, I'm either doing something very wrong or they aren't actually modeled and are just toys to play with.
Okay, so after about an hour of digging up manuals on internet, (which i then had to translate from german) I finally found out how to activate shunting controls. Here's how: -Reverser to FORWARD -Throttle to MIN (or AFB to ON for the BR 143) -Brakes to RELEASE -Shunting control to NEUTRAL -Shunting control to OFF -Press the "FREI" button on the shunting control panel -Shunting control to NEUTRAL At this point you should be able to set the traction using the shunting control. Note that this only works with the BR 143 & BR 185
yup that worked, that really should be in the english manual. shame the cabcar ones don,t work. or if they do it is a future mystery. they do however apply the breaks if you set them to SOS
I used this manual: http://static.scbist.com/scb/uploaded/1_1388496638.pdf The explanation is on page 74, chapter 5.2. I also found this one while searching for the answer about how to operate shunting controls: http://reslischecklisten.ch/media/files/BR-185-Gesamt-01.pdf Note that these are only about the BR185.
Oh yeah and about the 101 manual, a quick search on google brought up this one: http://static.scbist.com/scb/uploaded/1_1388496392.pdf (It's in german though obviously) I typed "BR 101 handbuch" in the google searchbar.
Thanks! -- even though there aren't any shunting scenarios or services yet. Can you suggest a way of carrying out some shunting work with what is now available?
Yup, as cobetco said, I believe it's the services from Hagen yard to Boele yard, where you deliver loaded log wagons and bring back empties. I haven't seen any shunting services on MSB yet though, if there are let me know
Yes, I forgot about those. Also on RSN, there are some services that require coupling to a rack of engines and hauling them to another place that also calls for adjusting the brakes of all of those engines.
The "Frei" button is located right above the shunting control lever. On the BR185 and BR146: On the BR143:
This works on all locos in TSW accept the cab car and the BR 155 because it does not have it. The cab car is not modeled. Update: If you don't put the throttle on Min it works!
Can anyone make a video showcasing the procedure? I can't get it to work no matter what I do. EDIT: Nvm, it got it working after some time
I just found out why it didn't work for me at first. The shunting controls are reversed in the other cab, meaning that the right control are on the other side and vice versa. When using the shunting camera (opening the window and pressing triangle/Y), the controller (and I'm guessing that it's the same for keyboard) operates the opposite shunting controls. It works properly in the "forward" cab.
I tried using them on the BR101 and Sifa get's me everytime I just think about using them... how do they work?
I may have mentioned this already, but it's worth repeating: our dear Rudolph Heijjink has written an excellent guide to the Ruhr-Sieg Nord route DLC that includes a very thorough chapter about the DB BR 363 shunter. You can find and download it here: http://www.hollandhiking.nl/trainsimulator/index.php . Ruhr-Sieg includes a good number of excellent shunting activities for this engine as well as a decent tutorial session that Rudolph's manual supplements in fine fashion. I'd never have known about the 363's shunting gear without his manual! By the way, I had already driven most of these activities some time ago, but am thoroughly enjoying revisiting them. One of their many merits is that, unlike so many TSW tasks they are very forgiving of where you stop -- which is very handy with the 363 because controlling it's brakes can be rather tricky.
