Good afternoon everyone, it's time to showcase the upcoming Class 700! Our preview stream is later this week on Thursday, 6th July, starting at 18:00 UTC/19:00 BST If you have any questions you want us to address, please send them in this thread - as a reminder we may not get to all questions but we will look through this thread whilst streaming
What inspired you to create the 700 for TSW, and was it because of the release of the TSC counterpart in any way?
Thought's: really looking forward to this, Sehs is my favourite (and local) route. Question: what's the possibility of the 700 layering onto future uk route and are there now any plans to optimise Bml so that it could one day have a timetable layer there?
Having one, if not the most-anticipated loco DLC for TSW ever in the form of the Class 700 finally coming to TSW with SEHS is brilliant. However, it still feels slightly odd that it's SEHS and not the BML with London Commuter that will get the 700 in TSW. Obviously, London Commuter needs vital memory optimisation for such, but could/would DTG ever consider adding even at least a handful of 700/0 Bedford services to London Commuter's timetable if able?
Why not make another timetable for London commuter to include the 700. There are several DLC's that have more than one timetable. With that said you can make one to include the 700 and remove the HST, and the 375 diversion services between red hill and East Croton, and other layers as needed . Everyone wins
With the 700 only coming to SEHS, which is wasted potential, does this mean that optimisation for BML is also in the works so that the 700 can be given a real run for its money?
Is it just going to be short haul Dartford to Rainham on SEHS or does BML get a layer? Does the Class 700 feature in the forthcoming big UK summer release? Does it feature authentic sounds or have they been synthesised/digitised from generic sources? Will there be the usual 10% preorder discount?
Dtg already said the 700 is for sehs only numerous times. In the June roadmap, dtg said the sounds are original recordings and from external sources
Yes I gathered that from the above comments too. What a waste of a potentially great new traction addition if this is the case, hence the suspicion they have something rather more special lined up with it for the summer release.
What functionality is there in the TMS? Does the timetable include the late-night services that only run between Rainham and Dartford, and the stabling of a train overnight at the old Rochester station?
Why is the 700/1 not included in this DLC? Do you have other plans for the 700/1? Besides 8/ 12 car variant what other differences are on the 700/0 and 700/1 that you wouldn’t be able to launch as one DLC?
That is incredibly poor considering the high profile of this unit, in fact it would have been more at home on BML than SEHS. Unless of course this is all smoke and mirrors ahead of the big summer route announcement. In some ways this is actually worse than the decision not to include Derby in the Peak Forest route. Can we ask *why* the decision was taken not to add the 700 to the hugely popular BML (other than service density issues).
Yea doesn’t make sense to add the 700/0 to just SEHS,Which is just one branch line and not a complete run at that..This would be like adding the Acela just to Boston DLC. I’m not sure how I feel about this……. This sound so similar to the NYT timetable, “no plan”………….
I don't think there is enough optimisation that will get BML to hold any more different trains. I would suggest a new timetable would be the way to go along with a visual overhaul with the TSW3 features etc. I think BML definitely bit off more than it could chew.
Thanks for the reply. But it does seem pointless for it having short runs on SEHS so hopefully there is something else going on.
As I mentioned before, don’t touch the current timetable. Make a new one to include the 700. They have done this on other routes, bakerloo, rapid transit, kohl. So you would have the original and the original available to choose
So it’s confirmed that no current work is planned on BML, but you notice the question about a new route featuring the 700 has not been answered. I suspect that’s because there is one on the way, with the 700 as the main traction. It’s implausible that DTG have gone to all the trouble to make a completely new unit, just to do a few very short runs on SEHS.
Yes, perhaps so, although I can’t help but wonder how that fits in with Skyhook’s MML project (as they appear to see it). I don’t get any sense Skyhook are about to release a major route like that, so that means it’s a DTG route taking a section of the route Skyhook we’re developing. Either way, for me it would be an interesting route, providing it’s possible to drive HSTs between St Pancras and Bedford. The modern EMUs themselves don’t interest me.
Oh absolutely. I want MML with Class 45's and Class 127 DMU's but will settle for whatever is on offer!
Will working TMS be implemented into the new 700s, as it’s a feature that has been promised to be implemented into TSW? Will this be the first train to have this feature?
My money is on St Pancras - Peterboro, it makes a lot of sense as we basically have almost all the licences needed to bring the route to fruition
Will the PIS, which I assume will be auto-set like in all recent passenger trains, also have a manual override?
I know the route hasn't got ATO but will there be ATO it would be still nice to have that feature even though the route hasn't got it it brings some realistic side of the class 700
Yes, it does remind one of that blanket " we are not working on the NYT timetable " that turned out to be premature ( we hope ).
Will Class 700/0 have the option to later layer onto ECML & MML South once built? For BML this needs a Class 700/0 timetable to do Brighton to Bedford via Gatwick and Luton airports. Will there be a route for Class 700/0 to run on in the future using both AC 25kv 50hz and 750v DC Third
With the imminent release of the 700/0, are there any plans to fix the AI PIS bug on SEHS? It seems like a good time to finally so do. EDIT: Wrong thread, was meant to put on the roadmap q&a thread
To be able to enter the 4 digit headcode and contact the signaller if stuck at a red. Not entirely useless.
Doesn't the 700 go to St Pancras in real life would of been good to take it there decent run Rainham to Dartford is quite a short hop for it
I mean "useless" in terms of talking with Network Rail for instructions. A head code and contact signaler is in game more a gimmick and have less results than in reality
Will the 700 include features that were on the 323? E.g. passenger count affecting brakes and doors opening slightly different times?
I’d rather have in on with a head code and do nothing than have it off when it isn’t supposed to be, to me it’s immersion breaking
