Saluda Grade - Southern Railway. Brightline passenger - Miami to Orlando. Nickel Plate Road (NKP) 1950-1960s.
Look it up my friend.. It's not hard to find all the information about these railroads and routes. I'm not going to write a two hour summary and explanation on here..I do not have the time, but these are well known and very popular with rail fans. NKP is my favourite railroad though, especially in the 1950s and early 60s because of steam and early gen desiels. Nickel Plate Road Wikipedia. It would be cool to see it done in Ohio. I live in Ohio close to the old NKP route and ran alone Lake Erie, Buffalo-Chicago route, now Norfolk Southern, so it has some personal meaning, Awesome railroad with big history! Saluda Grade was the steepest grade at the time and was used by the Southern Railroad now abandoned by NS. It's in North Carolina, steepest grade was 4.9%! Brightline is a modern high speed passenger route in Florida connecting Miami to Orlando in September. Big modern stations and is state of the art equipment. Also on it runs/shares with Florida East Coast RR. All three of these would be awesome to see on TSW3!
So you're saying everyone in the entire world knows about the route? See, wasn't that hard to describe the route. But you still didn't include what the state of three art equipment is. If you have time to write the post, you have time to go research and do it. Do you really think players are going to be interested if you just want i want a us route with zero descriptions? Absolutely not. Who said you had to write it in one sitting? You have time to write it out over the course of several days and weeks?
Did u wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Holy smokes! Calm down there. What, you do not like to read? I'm not going to sit here and hold your hand, go do your own research. I gave you plenty to start with and go online Wikipedia to learn. Wow. Everyone is so rude today and lazy.
First of all, I was providing suggestions on how to improve and you got mad over it. If you're going to make a suggestion, sell it. You can't assume dtg or us knows what the route is. Even forum members who have full time jobs and a family has the time to write a good suggestion, so you being busy is no excuse Other forum members haven't said anything but if they did, they would all say the same thing that your original suggestion doesn't have detail. I'm the only one who actually said that. If you want players to even look at your suggestion and reply to it, do better
Whatever you say Captain! I should have gave you a full book report on each route, my bad. Not going to argue on here. You have a most wonderful day.
If your gonna post a suggestion on the forums, you need to provide that information yourself, you can't expect everyone else to go and there own research.
I did! That's not enough? [EDIT - Jan - Language]. Excuse me for saying anything interesting and suggesting cool route ideas. I'm being scrutinized over this small crime!? My word. I'm done and will never be on here again. Thanks for turning me off to this forum.
please use my template on those routes you suggested https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cGw_uEVaHiROjbLtuKKp1g0GPASK12lbPUToojjtAk0/edit?pli=1 For Saluda Grade DTG needs to watch this video on how to run trains downhill over Saluda
Excuse me but but we are not a bunch of crybabies, I was simply stating a fact that if you suggest something on the forums, YOU are the one who needs to provide the information. And by that I mean full information like images, route mileage, trains that operate along these routes in the time period you've suggested etc. But hey, if you wanna be rude about it and expect us to go and find all of that information ourselves and call us crybabies because you won't provide that info then sure be my guest, I'm sure it won't by long until we find out Dtg's view on that.
The idea of this forum is to post an idea and try to sell it both to the community and to DTG that it will be a viable proposition to invest development time and money in. It doesn’t need to be a long rambling essay or copy and paste from Wikipedia, but solid information and making the case why you think it will sell well. You also have to bear in mind that what might seem to be popular (for example the UK WCML and ECML) don’t always hit the spot with DTG when it comes to what they wish to make. Look no further than recently with all the UK route requests and we got… Manchester to Glossop. Which as it turns out wasn’t too bad but not exactly up there on the A list of requests either.
This isn't how suggestions work. Wheres the route info? Loco info? Stations? Passnger/frieght/express? Come on man, you can do better
Looks like another freight route with little traffic (and now disconnected from the rest of the system) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saluda_Grade Not sure on this one. Is there enough variety in the passenger runs to give decent gameplay? Else is just another A2B green light fest Probably the best of the three... Looks like decent passenger and freight operations https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel_Plate_Road
I am American and I don't know 2 of the routes. I'm not going to Google it since it's the job of the op to write a good suggestion. Dtg and many members here have zero idea what the op is talking about.
Bright line passenger is an intercity line in Florida that is currently being expanded. Wikipedia is saying 17 round trips although i don't know about that since wikipedia isn't always correct
That's fine, but that means little in terms of variation. If there's 9 stops and all trains stop at all stops then... .yawn?
The entire point of a suggestion is to "sell" the route/train. If you don't, it'll struggle to rack up support and, if DTG see it, they'd take a bit of a "meh, next" approach. A good suggestion contains that info to convince people it would be good. You don't have to, after all, but it's a bit pointless if you don't.
If Ibwere in DTg's shies and came across this post, I wouldn't waste my time on it. A bit of detail about the route would probably give me, as the developer, a reason to do my own research into its viability.
Possible loco suggestions for each route: -Saluda Grade: -Southern RR had high-hood diesels -SD40-2 -GP38-2 -SD24 -GP7/GP9 -GP30 -GP35 -GP50 -SW1500 -SD45 -FM H-24-66 Trainmaster -U30C -B23-7 -Brightline/Florida East Coast (Miami-West Palm Beach; maybe extended to Tampa and Orlando): -Brightline Siemens SCB40 Chargers w/ Siemens Venture Coaches -FEC GE ES44C4 with LNG Fuel Car -FEC GP38-2 -FEC GP40-2/GP40-3 -FEC SD40-2 -NKP Route: -RS3 -PA-1 -GP30 -GP35 -GP7/GP9 -SD9 -NW2 -2-8-2 H5/H6 -S-1/S-2-Class 2-8-4 Berkshire
You better do a full on two hour book report on this or you will be raked over the coals for giving little info. Lol Sounds interesting to me since I'm American.
If you ever look at previous suggestions, the ones that get replies or players have an interest in are the detailed ones that at least tell you the route, length, rolling stock, photos and if possible service pattern. If dtg and players don't know what the route is, then how are they supposed to be interested in it. It's like writing an essay in school. If you don't include any details, you get no points. No one cares if you just write "I want a US route just because I want it." Your revised descriptions of each route barely goes into detail. We're trying to help but you're not listening.
It also needs to be practical in terms of the routes we know they and their third party affiliates are able to build, i.e. generally no more than 50 or 60 miles in length and probably less than that if reasonably complex.
Don't let people get under your skin so easy and relax. Take a cold drink and go do some research. If you like trains, then what's the big deal to go look at something? Good grief.
Whatever we say is just going to be ignored by the op as shown by his responses to the many people who replied. At this point it's better to either report or just ignore this thread completely. If we keep on trying to respond, we are just feeding the troll.
It's like I already said, if you make a route suggestion, YOU need to be the one to provide the proper info, not the bare bones suggestion that you did make.
All the wasted time complaining, certain individuals could have looked all this up already and moved on. People are never happy less complaining about something. Unbelievable, I go on here and wanted to share something neat and get attacked for not doing it properly.. Lol wow, what a forum. I'm out! Have fun!
You're the one who's rattled by this thread mate. You're clearly as unwilling to do the research as you accuse them of being
No one is attacking you, we're all just pointing out to you how to properly make a route suggestion, so if anything I'd say we were all trying to help you.
Hey folks, This is a friendly reminder to keep discussions civilized and to keep a friendly tone when engaging with other forum members. If the arguing continues like this I will have to close this thread. Enjoy your evening, Jan
It’s your route suggestion, therefore you should go to the effort of making a detailed suggestion for people who don’t know about it Tell you what, I want the Tarka line in tsw. Google it yourself, I’m not sitting here talking about it myself
Whatever floats your boat brother. You're not either? Can't go online and READ! I find it fun and intriguing to look up stuff, but I guess in today's world people rely on others. What a lazy sad world.
I was going to list more stuff, but what is the point at this time. I never seen such a bunch of picky OCD like people on here. It's laughable at this point. Unbelievable the warmth felt from fellow railfans. I gave some good info at the time do to time constraints and thought that was a nudge to give others a interest in what I put forth. Boy, was I wrong!!!
Sure, why not? What's the problem looking up something? Lol You all are on the computers all day and find it hard!? Hahaha! Wow!
We are being neither picky mor Ocd, your the one who is getting all rattled other us for no justifiable reason, all we did was tell you that if you ate going to right up a route suggestion, YOU need to provide the proper amount of information just like most other route suggestions on this forum.
I get a little annoyed when right away I was chastised for not putting forth a ten thousand word report on the three routes I have listed. Some of us don't have the time and hope others would take an interest. You, not so harsh, but a few others are acting pretty demanding. I gave a brief description of each and that was all I could a that time. I understand why it would be better to give more info, but didn't think it would turn into a big fiasco. Take care.
I ain't doing it because I don't give a s- about the route. Only reason I am in here is because the title was ambiguous (nice clickbait), and therefore I wondered what it was. Only reason I commented is because you're being a muppet. You've either got the biggest dose of narcissism these forums have ever seen or you just really don't understand the point of the suggestions board.
Me a muppet? Lol Ok, then quit with the dumb comments and go play trains! Have a good one there. Bye.
