Really appreciate all the work that has gone into bringing us livery designer functionality for the HST. It's always great to have new trains come to the livery designer, letting us create more liveries, both real and fictional. A huge part of livery designer, for me at least, is putting liveries from real life onto trains that haven't been done in TSW yet. Be that GWR onto the BML 387 so you can pretend to drive on GWE during modern times, or GBRf and Railfreight ect. onto the class 66 for more variety on a train that's mostly ever seen in just EWS livery. Another huge part though is creating special liveries, which is why I was quite disappointed to see that both of the power cars on a GWE HST formation in livery designer are linked. You paint the one power car, and the other power car has exactly the same on it. Not only does this prevent realistic liveries where both power cars would have different numbers ect., but it also eliminates 99% of the special liveries you can do on a HST since usually only 1 of the power cars has the modified livery. I do want to make it clear that, again, livery designer functionality on the HST is very much greatly appreciated with it being the most iconic train in the UK in the past 50 years. But I think it's a big oversight here to implement it like this as it really hampers a lot of the livery options. And sure, you could just have both ends have the special livery, but you're always going to be prevented from getting it as close to real life as possible. Also, I'm not sure if this was also the case on the MML HST since I haven't had the time to dive into that one yet, being focused as of late on 158 liveries, 66 liveries and just playing the actual game, but either way, it's still sad that it's been done this way, and hopefully in the future, we can see the 2 power cars separated, although I understand this will likely cause issues in the future on then already existing liveries.
I can't imagine it's either a) been done like that for no reason, and b) an easy fix, I imagine the model would need redoing to change the way the texture mapping works.
While we’re already talking about the HST here, what does the disabled substitution in scenarios mean? No more custom liveries in scenarios, or something else (e.g. AI HSTs no longer appear)? I was not aware that livery substitution was ever possible in DTG-created scenarios, that’s why I’m a little confused.
The bug was that the game would randomly spawn you in a 166 on an HST scenario- making it of course impossible.
One of the issues was that scenarios with the 66 would spawn a different 66 in - which completely breaks the scenario system.
Is that patch responsible for the issue with the GWE HST windshield? Drive in the rain and see for yourself, the wipers don't clean the windshield anymore. Wonderful.
Yeah, I can't see why this wouldn't be intentional. As I said, it's been done before, it's just a little disappointing with how much it restricts what you can do with special liveries. I imagine it's probably to reduce the resources each livery use up by only having it remember 1 set of layers for both cab cars, rather than two. On the other hand, great to see the substitution issue fixed. While I've never had it myself, that definitely sounds less than desirable. Haven't tried the class 43 in the rain post patch yet, but if the wipers are now broken, hopefully we see them fixed soon.
