I don't like the "new" trend to have the camera way too far in the back (like the 158, 323) - while the purpose is to have all controls visible, it kills immersion for me - I like the camera to be where my eyes would be IRL. Some locos feature a second position (Class 40 iirc), but we still can't adjust it to our needs. Seat adjustment, a good feature, has been abandoned sadly. The DB 110 has very bad visibility in rain, because it is too low and a bit too far to the left. So as there still is no option as in ETS2 (or in TSC by editing the cab camera.xml), has anybody figured out how to adjust the values, maybe with a hex editor? Thankful for your thoughts.
They have, but you need the God Mode mod then you can put it where-ever you wish. Available on here; https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c75-utilities/i2703-tsw-god-mode-alpha-025
I do have GodMode - did I miss that option? I see a lot of camera values, which ones are related to the driver position?
Scroll your mouse to the top, go to the right and you’ll see the settings cog. Click on that and what you want is under ‘Zoomier Zoom’. You can have it on or off, set a default FoV etc. It also allows you to zoom much further in or out etc. Hope that helps! I find 100 actually works nicely for the units where I feel zoomed too far in. ps There are some mods out there for certain units/locos that alter the camera position. One of the most important is the 166 which lifts the default position a bit higher meaning you can actually see outside when it’s raining!
I know about the zoom, I wanted to move the camera I'll be looking for mods then (and how to make them myself), seems GodMode cannot move the viewpoint (which presumably is a fixed node in the loco's model?) This would be my most wanted feature, since many cameras are off. (The GP38-2 is too high and too far left, whereas the SD40-2 is perfect.)
Ah, I’m with you. I read this that it was the zoom you didn’t like; Just to be clear though, I’m not talking about the zoom per se, more about re-setting the default field of view. Are you au fait with how to unpack .pak files? If so you could figure out how it’s been done relatively easily I’d guess.
I'm about getting into this (having modded a lot of stuff in the very accessible TSC). Will download the 166 mod and analyze it. Can you recommend a simple UE unpacker?
That's brutal, I never noticed that since I'm using a TrackIR. Baffling how seat adjustment and brightness/gamma sliders still aren't a thing in this game.
Absolutely. Matt also uses TrackIR, so it's no big deal for him. The worst example is the SKW's ICE1. I feel like I can't reach the controls from back where I'm seated :/ It really is awkward that a feature like this, and gamma / brightness sliders are missing. The game is six years old now.
