Posted this on the road map thread but might be better here. Article below regarding the release date for TSW4 https://www.dealabs.com/magazine/tr...sortie-du-jeu-de-simulation-ferroviaire-22886 This is from the guy who leaks details of PS Plus games (correctly) Obviously could be nonsense but first article I've seen suggesting a release
I mean youve gotta take it with a pinch of salt, but it wouldnt surprise me if TSW4 did release this summer, I've called this for a couple of months now, more and more clues adding up on a weekly basis and becoming more frequent.
Always suspect when a new member to the forums links to a website promising XYZ leaks in relation to TSW. Call me cynical but for all we know its the website owner drumming up traffic to their site.
Perfectly right to be cautious but I'm not the owner or have any affiliation to the site (which I think is French). Found the article as this site has been reported as the source for the FIFA FC release date
Dealabs is the real deal, if you look them up they've leaked tons of gaming stuff before. Noone would bother faking info for such an obscure game like TSW.
Okay I can only say... This is no secret at all... If you see the roadmap you can expect what he is writing. Further on if he have an Informant by Sony or Microsoft it could be the right prediction. Only time will show if he is right But the date in combination with the nearly empty roadmap could be revealed the month of August
Regardless of it being true or untrue, I wouldn’t be surprised. Did anyone really think that DTG would stop at 3? Personally I’m getting bored of having to move to a new game so frequently, it’s not been a smooth journey every other time & I feel like each new title comes with a graphical & performance degradation.
Lol they are really gonna make a tsw4? Whats the big feature this time they found to sell this patch as a new game ?
If you follow the Discord some people have discovered files leading to this. And let’s face it. The roadmap is a huge giveaway. There’s nothing on it. Not even anything in development for DTG. They just released a make shift DLC with a recycled loco. It’s very clear that they are working on something and don’t want to say at this point.
Exactly but we know nothing... But for me 99% sure they change to UE5... It's necessary to create a better product and for me absolutely welcome for better performance
If we are getting another Train Sim World in 2024 what could be different about TSW if DTG moved to unreal engine 5. If that was the case and how will it affect next generation consoles and PC hardware?....
There a lot of hints out there. was more expecting a refresh core update but not TSW4. I do think we are getting 3 routes with NYT time table coming out 3 weeks after the core update(new routes come out). This happened last year with bakerloo and hamburg. two months ago they basically said the NYT time table was complete timetable. last road map they even had all LIRR AI done. They talked about just neededing testing. and now stating that is almost done again........ Brandon is working through the summer on a project....... is all adding up to something
If that turns out to be true, then DTG is going to have a pie in face moment. It was only a few days ago that Matt commented to say Gen8 was still popular- to me that’s abit of a silly comment to make if he’s leading production of a new product which excludes it. On the other hand he’s also commented that juggling various builds is becoming an issue, and whilst I’m not going to say forsake gen 8 players for more content, I could get behind forsaking Gen8 to get more fixes & polished builds.
Would really love to see this game in UE5. The BIG problem though is all routes and trains will have to be remade again.
I think if you try to get the game to a higher level it's necessary to make decisions that affect some users in a good way but also in a bad way. So for me it's no doubt if you stop support for gen8 it will affect a larger gamers group in a good way than its affect it in a bad way so the decision is simple. The group thats using a gen9 or PC is way higher than gen8 users.
I would rather have a massive summer of fixes and get game into a better shape than now looks like yearly now we having to get newest version of the game im fed up with it
TSW3 is scheduled to leave Game Pass on September 1, 2023. TSW2 left Game Pass on August 15, 2022, and TSW3 was released on September 6, 2022 as a day one Game Pass title…
So TSW3 came with a bunch of new features, out of which probably only the clouds and sparks work as intended... and without any fix to the rest... let's move on... lovely... even TSW2 saw some important core work before getting thrown off the cliff. Also, I really doubt TSW2 owners will see the promised fixes after that... as expected...
Honestly wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest, DTG have been fairly quiet this last month. Roadmap has been super sparse, and for who knows what for. Brandon working on another project. They’ve been rushing routes out and leaving major bugs and glitches in them, with some being lazy cashgrabs. Take NY-Trenton, the US livery pack, another one with skyhook which screams lazy and cashgrab, either they don’t care for the US and much as the UK and Germany. People asking to drop Gen 8. apparent “leaks” about the next series. Only way I would get TSW4 is if it was on a major discount or free for current owners of TSW3. Or this could all be speculation and this could be 3 big summer routes theyve been keeping quite about. Either way I hope it isn’t TSW4
Could be many things. If dtg ports everything over which is 80 pieces of content and growing, all of it would require to be updated to work in ue5. It also means all the work 3rd parties did was for nothing since they would have to remake their dlcs to make it ue5 compatible. The jump within ue4 versions was huge and a headache for dtg. To move it to whole different version for all 80 would be even worse. Things could stop working or break like what happened with each engine upgrade. Dtg could start over. Nothing ports over and dtg turn the game around so the same mistakes aren't made. It would be next gen and pc only which means dtg loses a chunk of the playerbase unless dtg implements all of ue5 features and modern tech such as dlss and fsr and minimal bugs, stable game, maybe a route builder, better decisions/pricing, etc to bring players back. However since Matt has said gen 8 consoles would still be supported, I don't think dtg would move to ue5 since last gens could struggle. Ue5 shouldn't really affect those on modern pcs and next gen consoles. It's not ray tracing or a triple a title so as long as you have decent hardware, tsw should run just fine.
With the current state of releases and updates that are breaking current dlc (SEHS, GWE, MML) going to TSW 4 would be a little stupid imho. As also said, going to TSW3 broke a lot of stuff. The audio on a lot of locos etc especially on Xbox is a nightmare that somehow can't be replicated? I wouldn't personally get TSW4 on release following current dlc and histories of problems with new interations.
Not at all. Dealabs is a famous website here like a social network for good deals/bargains found by people with a huge community it has nothing to do with Focus, they’re not affiliated.
*sigh* This is getting so silly. I will be really disappointed if we're faced with yet another paid glorified update which gatekeeps future DLC with what is essentially just bringing (in the general grand scale of things) minor updates regardless of how much it is dressed up. I would only agree to buying it if there was fundamentally massive features like VR or multiplayer or something that hasn't been seen before in earlier releases or in TS. TS got free annual core updates, what changed with TSW? This whole process sours the TSW franchise for me.
well it should come with 3 new routes we hope. not sure what the price will be probably a little more expensive than last year
I am sure there will be TSW4, but this year ? The two year cycle is pretty good, and generally accepted by the community. I'm not sure if they'd mess with that and push another game. But, who knows ! If they really do TSW4, at least I can grab three routes for the price of one again.
In my opinion $30-40 for the Main Game and DLC could be around $13-23 which of the fair deal and will help dovetail tremendously.... Having more DLC pricing options for existing and existing players Where they get to choose how much they want to pay is a big win for Dovetails and player!!!.....
I'm weak. I admit it. I'd cave and have fun in TSW4...just like TSW3...and 2...and the first issue. I just love trains. Kind regards, Admittedly Weak Dave
I’ll buy it and I guess I’ll have a bit of a moan about the new UI and a few other bugs but I’ll thoroughly enjoy driving all the new trains on all the new routes and be jolly grateful that I live in the era when train simulators are this good. Long live TSW4, if that is its real name. The author of the article may have some inside info or just a hunch but I have a feeling in my bones that TSW4 is actually just around the corner. Either that or my arthritis is flaring up again and we’re just getting an update for TSW3 and a route bundle. I don’t care which it is to be honest. I’m still a few TSW3 DLC short… Edinburgh-Glasgow, NY-Trenton, Peak Forest, MML, Glossop, Acela and WCL Steam… and I’m waiting for them all to come in a sale but the yearly bundle/new TSW iteration is always a day one buy for me. Bring it on….
It's worth a reminder that at last official word from DTG, consoles were 2/3 of the user base, and while back then we were also told the vast majority were still on 8th gen, just recently they said that the 8th/9th gen division was closer to 50/50. If roughly 1/3 of revenue is still coming from 8th gen consoles, it would make no business sense to dump them. It also makes no sense, given that DTG has repeatedly said that development is done for current systems and then the game trimmed down where necessary to run on 8th gen, that people who are not running on old consoles keep demanding that they be dropped. Some people also keep clamoring for an upgrade to UE5. Given that even point upgrades within UE4 (like 4.23 to 4.26 for Rush Hour) caused great headaches, do you think 4.26 to 5.x will go smoothly? Do you think DTG's support is up to the task of supporting this upgrade with all the other issues that have been open for months or longer? And can you name any new features of UE5 that will make it worthwhile? I've seen mention of improved lighting systems, but can't the game's lighting also be improved in UE4? Will UE5 offer smaller memory footprints, for example? That would be a big deal if so, but I've never heard that mentioned. Both of these things seem to be simply wanting the game to be more "modern" and running on only the newest systems and with the newest engine, but for its own sake rather than any practical benefit? A big financial hit to DTG is not a benefit for us, the end users. Occupying developers with adopting an entirely new engine at the expense of fixing what's already broken doesn't benefit us either.
Only way I don't see TSW4 being a mess is if it was sold like TSC was, where its just a yearly upgrade but not an entirely new game (IE TSW3 users upgrade to TSW4 for free but would still pay for any new route bundles) and doesnt continue to break old content.
$13-23 might be too cheap and not result in a good return on investment for dtg considering it takes a bunch of time and resources to make something. They need to make enough money to make a profit, pay for licenses, pay wages and rent, etc.
LOL if TSW 4 was coming then WE the users would have heard about it before some random internet page lol. CLICKBAIT at its finest thats all that is.
