No. Just no. I still remember the progress wipe that came with TSW2 and how long it took to get the content back in. TSW3 was released almost a year ago and there are still many issues. The Caltrain MP36PH-3C is not selectable since day one without a mod, fix is stuck somewhere in the pipeline. Promised fixes for TSW2 are still being pushed back. I don't see the point of getting invested in another product that gets released, breaks many things, F-s up some things even worse, gets fixed for a little while, and then gets abandoned for yet another version.
OK so apart from the title and release/preorder dates which are very specific, there's nothing in this article except supposition. As already mentioned, the site is indeed a legitimate medium which I myself have used in the past in the hunt for gen 9 consoles in France. A very large pinch of salt then should be taken with this so-called leak.
This is interesting and it seems like things are starting to piece together, if we do get TSW4, then I hope that it is something genuinely better than the disappointing TSW3 launch
On the iPad at present so can’t translate the article. What if anything was speculated about price? Certainly interesting but if true knocks N3V into a cocked hat, in the upgrade a bit and resell department. If it is true then I echo the sentiment that the core needs to be free or heavily discounted for TSW3 owners, on all platforms. If we are going down the road of annual updates then it needs to adapt the TSC model of being funded by DLC purchases. Of course most of us will gripe and grumble but end up buying it anyway, particularly if the route pack is a good one. I just hope this time round the UK route is something new, not another extension/rehash of SEHS and ditch the Training Centre, it’s a waste of time and HD space.
They speculate that it will cost at least 40€ and be released on 26th of September with preorders starting on 22nd of August.
Looks like it’s time for a few bike trips to Sainsbury’s/Argos buy a few more Steam vouchers to sneak past the wife. Expensive months ahead… Class 700 - £12. JT Ormskirk to Blackpool - £30 (probably). TSW4 (or summer route bundle) - £40, maybe even £50. Ker ching! Still put it in perspective, wouldn’t buy one Hornby model loco let alone the stock behind it or a layout to run on.
Don't belive everything you read online somewhere. If there is a TSW4 why are not more sources available?
It's a real shame that Hornby model trains are as expensive as they are now, buying Tsw dlc almost feels like shopping in Poundland compered to them now imo.
Some years ago I sold all my model railway stuff second hand on Ebay for peanuts. D’oh comes to mind.
...it's not being worked on? If that were true, all of DTGs route builder employees would now be doing nothing as DTG isn't working on any route at all, according to the roadmap. I'm certain they have a summer release planned. No clue if they'd call it "TSW4", and even if they do, it could be anything. TSC has had 'yearly' releases which were basically a new bundle of routes and nothing more.
Agreed and of course this was what we were promised last year but instead they misled us and came up with TSW3
While we are chucking round wild speculation........ TSW 3 wasn't really TSW 3 it was more TSW 2.5, it was a stop gap, I think TSW 4 will be what TSW 3 should have been..
They may be calling it TSW4 without it actually being called TSW4 -- just an update for TSW3 and they're not as tuned into the development cycle of this game as its fans are. It'll probably be something along the lines of Rush Hour. What I find interesting is this news is coming out of France where the headquarters of their new owners are located. It might be that this "source" is someone in Focus and not Dovetail.
I hope they get the lighting more balanced and do away with the adaptive eye feature. Better sound would be nice, particularly reverb under bridges and tunnels. Maybe the long awaited Scenario Planner update too, something that gives us full access to consists, pathing and portals so we can create our own timetables.
If the Gen 8 consoles are holding back development, which seems to be the case with memory on things like the BML Timetable being unable to fit the Class 700. Then it probably is time they are moved away from, most developers have done that already, the hardware just isn't up to modern standards anymore.
As for source, it looks like the info they get is probably some sort of hidden PS store info/datamine so it might be that the release date is from a planned listing (DTG have often said they need to fix release dates in advance to get them to align) The standard TSW3 edition price was reduced permanently on PS a few weeks ago so something is coming (as most suspected). Glad I didn't post this on Reddit as the mods are threatening bans!
We all need to hope that this article is complete ******! We have issues that have been there since 3 launched that haven't been addressed and god knows what issues will crop up when 4 rolls around! DTG released 2 when 2020 was a broken mess and tried to abandon that with a broken achievement, 2 was a broken mess when they released 3 AND STILL IS! And 3 released as a broken mess with more mess thrown in that only seems to get worse with each update (GWE on Xbox anyone!) DTG don't seem to be fixing the big issues and only barely address the small ones
They'll be spared a lot of negativity if they make it so you can migrate your account for free sans TSW4 routes. I hope the UI takes controllers into account during development this time. The medal system needs to be replaced with something else entirely. And of course better passengers. Way better passengers.
Mixed feelings here. If the article holds any truth you can be sure all promises for TSW3 will be abandoned instantly the moment 4 gets released. It's pretty much this, a vicious cycle of previous iterations not working out. Then it gets abandoned in favour of a "fresh" start only for it to happen all over again. If TSW4 were to happen the selling points for me would have to be the core routes, and any new features that would an improvement over 3. Let's see what happens. In the meantime, Class 700 bring it on.
It's going a bit in a direction now where people are exaggerating in their findings for TSW3.... Yes there are things that could be better but what I read here goes a long way with some users if you ask me....
As I said above, the only real issue I have with TSW3 per se is the lighting. Sound quality has been there since TSW1 and Scenario Planner seems to be a conscious decision not to give access to the tools for those of us who want to get stuck in and create more than limited simple A to B runs.
Fair enough! But there are some other users they have the need to use this thread as an excuse to abuse bugs for attention!
I mean if they provide TSW4 as a free upgrade for TSW2 & 3 it resolves the issue around updating TSW2 pres routes doesn't it?
The TSW Reddit has gone down the drain since they recruited the current set of mods, no longer can you have discussions, it’s just a rinse and repeat of the same basic “how do I do this” questions, followed by an onslaught of incorrect answers.
What's the killer feature now? Last time there was lighting and weather with horrible rain consisting of lines. And then there's the price increase, don't forget. Did a ride on Cajon in an overnight rain, to say it was awful is nothing to say. Why can't they make it rain like they did in TS?
As long as I dont have to start a new profile/ save game for the PS5 it can be called TSW 4 the 2023 pink polka dot collection for all I care!!! I also suspect that they {DTG} wont give you any details until close to their internal release date. So erm keep on guessing. Hentis
Hey, guys. Does anyone remember DTG's promises a year ago that they would separate locomotives from routes and we would no longer have 5-6 dostos, 146 and 143? The developers completely scored on this, for the most part the routes were not translated into new lighting, but a huge number of bugs surfaced. TSW3 dropped terribly in quality. If TSW4 really comes out without solving these problems, then for me personally it is a complete death for the entire TSW series of games. I do not need small routes for 15-20 miles with the rolling stock that is already in the game. For this reason, I have not launched TSW3 since April
Just a thought. Appreciating DTG may not be in a commercial position to confirm the article some form of response from them may help to prevent pages of speculation and concerns being raised. I guess they can't confirm it's correct but could say if the article is incorrect? I was going to buy MML but will hold off if there is a new version of TSW4 soon to buy as funds are limited.
I created a topic(https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/separate-routes-from-rolling-stock.69002/) with such a question in which noble seniors convinced me that I was wrong and that DTG did not promise anything of this
I think going forward they were going to be separate. I don't remember getting the impression they were going to go back and separate stock from routes.
Is funny how if you go back and watch the launch stream of TSW3........I wonder if we would get the same teaser launch that started 24 hours before the launch
It's not the same. If you don't buy new routes - nothing has changed. If you don't buy new game - that's the last stop, no new content, no patches, etc.
The only thing that would justify TSW 4 so soon is if they finally stop supporting Gen 8 consoles. Unreal Engine 5 could also be a possibility.
I hope this article is incorrect and that TSW4 is at least a year away. I hope they fix all bugs TSW3 first. That 'll take DTG at least 3 or 4 more years at currect rate of fixing things. Furthermore, I just went from PS4 to PS5 about two months ago. With my internet connection, downloading all my DLC took me more then 2 days. If TSW4 were to come out this year, I'll probably have to redownload everything AGAIN in a couple of months.... not looking forward to that... DTG, please stick with TSW3 for a few more years.
All I know is if tsw4 drops without an add-on manager for ps5, I’ll probably just switch to Xbox and get on the ms flight sim bandwagon. I’m not going back to that install/uninstall dance I had to do before add-on manager
Anybody else notice that since dovetail was acquired by focus there roadmaps have been getting emptier and they’ve been less active with the community about fixes and announcements of new routes? They’ve been making what seems like shorter routes and less rolling stock with them. They may have turned most of the team to TSW4 if it’s true.
TSW4, if it is to be, might be nothing more than a rebranding and maybe different core routes, there might not be any fundamental changes.
