Midland Mainline - Skyhook Feedback

That was a branch of track that was probably laid when building the route before they ran out of time and had to cut the route down similar to how SHG have laid track for areas with no scenery yet in case they go back to it I'd imagine as on the MML stream they said that adding more track to a route is a pain in the proverbial

 

Riesa Dresden is nothing compared to 32 miles of everything they have to model.

 

What I can't figure out is why SHG can't at least fix the directionality issues of the AWS magnets in a patch,with TSC is was just the case of a one second link flip, surely in TSW is isn't going to be much more complicated than that? It's very immersion breaking driving on that reversible line out of Leicester with all those extra AWS pings going off.
Of course the crashing issues should be sorted out as a priority, but surely these signalling based problems are easily and quickly remedied?
I haven't even tested the TPWS in the new patch, I just AltF4'd when those pings started going off again. From what I've read, these haven't been sorted either.

I won't say anything more other than I'm doing this research to protect the community, DTG and Skyhook. Maybe people will understand, maybe not.

I love trains, this community and people pushing things forwards, truly working on solutions, like londonmidland and cwf.green for example. And most of all - honesty.

 

I got the DLC refunded, I never doubted you by the way, as certain things do not/have not added up. There is a right to free speech in this forum, so not everyone will agree but the similarities leave little to be desired.

I also feel I have wasted my time in terms of everything I had provided in terms of referencing etc..

 

I just hope (ex-DTG) Adam can turn things around at Skyhook and issues get sorted. We'd all deserve that. Haven't bought MML yet for given reasons. Will buy when the time is right.

At this point they could be about to take it over themselves bc the whole thing so far has been an absolute s**tshow

 

In my opinion, the whole issues with this route have made me wary of the promises given from Skyhook, and made me greatly appreciate the content we get from directly from DTG.

the difference between Midland Mainline and Glossop are so far apart, and while MML may have brought in a new traction with the class 158, it's the actual route that seems to be the issue (with wrong AWS/TPWS and constantly crashing approaching Nottingham, which for me almost always occurs in the Class 43 anyway)

i was genuinely looking forward to MML on release, but it's (and again this is only my opinion) the worst route in the game from a playability perspective.

i feel a lot has been promised from STG with this route but it's not made a strong enough difference, specifically in performance and reliability.

Whereas with DTG directly i feel they are much more open about what they can, and what they can't, achieve with each route and dlc they release.

So i guess positives and negatives from my perspective lately, positive feelings about where DTG is heading especially after Glossop, but very wary of anything STG does going forward and i feel this route may never be free of some of the more serious bugs (at least on PS4/5).. but that's my view on things anyway

Of course DTG make mistakes, but to me they appear to happen out of confusion, time constraints, sometimes a bit of clumsiness (no offense) and top level decisions. But I've spent more than 7000 hours in their games, and I won't let anybody damage them.

What we got communicated from Skyhook appears to me as intentional deception instead. That's a completely different thing I can't accept - and branding that as "hate crime"? Come on... let common sense take over again please.

Yeah, and if the moderators didn't silence and remove anyone trying to bring up evidence like this, you and many others, myself included, would've likely been made aware of exactly who we were dealing with much sooner. Ah well.

Some of the stuff I reported, like the "Can't Make You Mind Up?" scenario or the blocked Route Map at Leicester, actually got fixed. Some, like the broken Mastery, or the missing bench collectables at Syston, or the missing trackwork in the tunnel near the power station, or the broken "Parking Brake" keybind on the HST... okay, there's a lot more stuff that wasn't fixed. But at least some of it was, so an amount of work did, in fact, get done.

I've been aware of the alleged history, and holding on to my money, watching with interest, hoping for everyone's sake Jane's promises prove true in every way, despite everything I've read and seen.

But when Jane has elsewhere claimed to have had integral roles in the design and development of Dark Seed, and I have an original copy of Dark Seed sitting conveniently on a nearby shelf, so I check the game credits in the booklet and find no mention of Jane's name anywhere... Well, I do tend to believe the quoted statements from one of the main guys who actually did work on the game, and who is actually credited in the booklet, saying that Jane had no involvement at all beyond being one of the play testers... And so I can't help believing the other people who have spoken up.

Played it on the Amiga 500 (PAL Interlaced - H R Giger insisted on that, wasn't happy with Low Res 320x256 PAL / 320x240 NTSC). Short but captivating game. Delbert and the Whisky....

 

I thought it was all a bit shady from the get go, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt, internet drama and all that.

I think we've all been suckered.

I noticed the lack of response to that question.

Which doesn't necessarily mean anything.

But coupled with the fact Jane is obsessed with Alien vs Predator alone (just look at the Twitter account) – you have to wonder why someone of such "legendary" status isn't shouting up about much bigger and better and recent projects than that...

And then you start to wonder if it's true Jane was quickly fired from the team for rubbish AI coding, and then never really did have any other credit-worthy roles after that...

 

Amiga surely was fun, and seeing the YT vids where RJ Mical (UI designer) tells the Amiga story from HiToro to Commodore is very entertaining to listen to - the boys were surely having fun developing that machine. (no blue screen of death - a "guru meditation" instead )

The fact they chose the weird Workbench UI colours blue, orange, white and black was simply due to the fact that they wanted it to be legible on the crappiest old monochrome TV set available.

Still fascinating how Carl Sassenrath managed to code a fully pre-emptive multitasking OS ("exec") into a 256k ROM - long before Microsoft had a real Multitasking system.

I had an A500 (Rev. 6a, KS 1.3) and later an A1200 (Commodore model luckily, the later AMiGATechnologies ones were shipped with cheap PC floppy drives hacked to write 880 instead of 720 KB, resulting in a lot of trackloaders failing to load) which I moved into a tower case and added an i386 eqivalent MC68030@50MHz + FPU turbo board with 16 MB FastRAM . Still having my full harddisk image for WinUAE.

I feel like I should make an important point here. (A)JW should not in any way be mistaken for legendary composer David Whittaker (as has been done elsewhere, not these forums). DW is/was a superb aural artist on the days of C64, Atari and Amiga as well as (I assume) consoles. Must take the time to see what he's actually up to these days

While your sentiment is noble, the concept is an instrument of law. No crime has been committed here (though some forumites may believe otherwise), but all I will say is, the burden of proof in civil versus criminal cases is much, much lower (at least as far as UK law is concerned)

Convenient for who, exactly ? I’d just like to know why DTG no nothing about the very publicly declared “Hotfix” that was following Patch One and was not to be confused with Patch Two, which was coming later down the line?
If you talk the talk, you should walk the walk, but you’re right “how convenient they are not here to defend themselves”.
I’m happy to be proved wrong, but at the moment I feel totally cheated by SHG.

 

Don't know Jane from Adam, so I can't say I have a dog in this fight. But what gives me pause is the behavior of the attackers. While Jane's here, we have an anonymous account created for this purpose. Then the original account posts more when Jane's safely away on compassionate leave. If the intent was truly to "help" DTG and Skyhook, e-mails could have been sent. This is about being as public as possible, doing maximum damage while proclaiming saviorhood.

I'm fully expecting that if Jane decides to move on from the harassment and bullying that has followed them here, that there will be crowing and chest thumping, in the manner of a schoolyard bully who has successfully run his victim off the playground, at having successfully prevented the rogue tech worker from using their position at a small third-party developer of train sim DLCs as a stepping stone to world domination.

That’s a very fine sentiment and I respect your opinion, but I’m still waiting for somebody to explain about this “hotfix” that was being delivered by Jane, who was adamant this was not a second patch.
I’m not an anonymous account, if you’re referring to me, but I am a paying customer who believed what SHG were saying and parted with my money accordingly. Am I not entitled to an answer from somebody at SHG?

To think that just 2.5 months ago, I thought that this was just some corpo elderly lady who didn't quite manage to make it in the industry, and so, was finishing up her life at an executive job at a small-time developer.

Back then, I had no idea. My goodness. The so-called career of "Jane" turned out to be such a rabbit hole I'm amazed there's not a Frederik Knudsen video about it. How do people like that keep getting away with it for literal decades?

This Friday evening, pour one out for all the whistleblowers who came to this very thread, only to immediately get silenced/banned by the moderators, to the uproarious adulation of some of the members. Cheers.

I’m so confused as to what is fixed and what isn’t. I posted elsewhere that I didn’t think I had the patch but it appears that I may have but it hasn’t fixed everything I was expecting.

For example, I can now land at Spondon in the ‘Cant make up your mind’ scenario, and thus complete the scenario, but the stopping point is still halfway down the platform with the back of the train outside the platform. Also, Derby County football ground is not present, despite the fact that I have seen someone post a screenshot of it in place (possibly on a different platform - I am on Xbox One X).

 

I understand the sentiments here, but I don't know who the "anonymous" account is... I don't recall seeing anyone anonymous. I briefly saw ThatGuyMike appear and get deleted/banned rather quickly – and ThatGuyMike I believe is one of the people Jane unsuccessfully tried to sue, and has gopd reason to try to warn people (assuming what he says is true).

I don't trust everyone I read on the internet (or what I'm told in person), and that goes for both sides of the story. But, as I said above, when I am seeing things that ring true with the accusations, and have evidence in my hands of a fib (i.e. big role in Dark Seed claimed, but absolutely no credit for it), I start to wonder...

I don't know what has happened today but I said I would judge on the quality of the new 'patch' as after the first patch the route was unplayable for me, although strangely not for console uses. Now with the latest update the route is playable for me again on PC (although with many bugs still not fixed) but it seems consoles are having a really bad experience with it this time.

Does anyone know if there will be another patch and why different platforms are experiencing such differing outcomes from each patch?
