Completely agree I never thought of the 465 tbf I just love driving it would be lovely to take it on a long stretch
This is one of the good ones! I’ve been really quite disappointed with this year’s releases so far and haven’t played TSW half as much as I used to, but I love this train and it’s on my favourite UK route. Really enjoying it. Well Done this time DTG.
I'll echo the comments above. Really like the 700 so far, and I look forward to a route that would let us stretch the legs a little more, especially with the performance boost of running on AC. I hope in the interim we may have (via a mod) a way to run the 700 on BML as a 377/387 substitute.
I just tried to buy the 700 but every time I add any of the packages that include the 700 I seem to get upcharged fees. Why is this happening?
Some other feedback I would give for PS5 is about the screens in the cab. Firstly they are quite reflective and this makes the display hard to read when it is light in the cab. Secondly there is no on-screen (player’s screen not train screen) feedback that something is clickable or if you are located correctly to click it. I’ve had to enable the centre dot for the first time in years, and then I have to click to see if the on-screen (train screen this time) button is actually clickable in game, again with no feedback.
Absolutely fantastic DTG JD DTG Matt the team have absolutely smashed this dlc love the clicking of the TBC so you always know position of brake/throttle also love how easy the power change is and another thing I found interesting when in ac mode from London such is the good performance of the 700 there’s no loss of speed on section to ebbsfleet even on inclines another big bonus is the wide windscreen also the difference between AC/DC is fantastic as like 2 different trains in one and knowing IBGT technology like I do I find I can drive the 700 hudless just by listening to the motors and knowing the speed in relation to IBGT phases also a big shoutout for the technical teams as the implementation of the audio the pis displays and the internal next stop displays are fantastic well done DTG
DTG JD are you able to explain this please? £7.53, winner, I add this to the cart but then its charging £11. No biggy but very misleading.
Yeah I get the same problem with the Bundle. There's only one item I don't own (the 700) and it shows the Bundle price as £7.53 on the 700 store page. But after adding it to the Cart the price has gone up to £11.00. In the cart it shows as 2 items - the 700 and also the BR Heavy Freight pack which I already own! I think this is something DTG need to sort out with Steam.
Thanks folks. Raised to our Retail team to check with Valve. EDIT - it looks like the BR Heavy Freight Pack entitlement. We've raised with the team.
Just had my first drive of the 700 and have to say its a solid 8.5/10 it's definitely one of the better add ons well done team! Couple of things to point out from my experience of driving the real world 707's. 1. From going into the off position into taking power the real trains (707's anyway) are very rapid to take power it's almost instantaneous it takes about 1-1.5 second for this train to take power where as real life its probably 0.5-0.7. 2. The initial brake knuckle on Desiro cities doesn't add any brake unlike the Desiro classic's which has a small rub off on the speed. 3. The PBC in real life is very loose and free flowing it feels very stiff on this add on. The smaller nit picky stuff for me is the depot whistle is too high pitched and the HMI screen if you're on another screen when you start moving it'll take you back to the first screen automatically. I know the sounds aren't 100% accurate but they definitely do the job. Hopefully this train will get its own layer in London Commuter soon!
On PS5, just did my first service. Firstly, I noticed that my train did not display anything on the destination screens - this was 9P13 to Rainham. I’m not sure if I have to set it up manually or what. Haven’t seen any manual setup for the destination screens by others. Second, I passed three AI-driven Class 700s, and none of them had their headlights on. They also don’t have their tail lights on either. Odd. Third, poorly looped audio with the traction motors and the AWS. It doesn’t sound very good.
Initial thoughts then… After the dreary mandatory circuit of the Training Centre and reset of stop marker to off, got into a proper run. The train looks nice and handles superbly, contrary to what the build up led me to expect it’s not a pocket rocket on pull away, at least on DC, and you do need to watch your braking. Nice. Sounds… well it seems to me something seriously amiss with the balance. The cab is very quiet even with the windows and door to the saloon open. Had to crank the speakers up to really hear anything. However any passing trains sound horrendously loud even approaching which should not be the case. This needs looking at. Not so nice. So I kind of go along with DadRail score when he gave it 7/10. And yes we need a proper complete route to give a decent run, preferably on AC power.
I fell foul of this but continued my purchase and submitted a support ticket with Value, hoping they refund the difference. But in all honesty I was prepared to pay full price so £2.00 off is still a bargain IMO. Onto the DLC itself, after thinking the train was far to quiet and mixed wrong I discovered my headphone jack wasnt in correctly DOH!! Now that is resolved I think the train sounds really good, not overly familiar with the real life version but for me it sounds like it should. Performance - now I cant find the lite timetable so assuming on the journey is connected to the full beans timetable, regardless Ive had zero issues other than the usual microstutter here and there, its certainly no worst on the route then it was so I'm happy. Only done a couple of runs so far so I'll continue giving it a shake down.
Further to the sounds, getting up to speed you can definitely detect the loop. So IMHO definitely needs a trip back into the workshop to sort both that out and the relative volume level which needs to be pumped up significantly.
Have my +1 on the whole train needing a volume boost inside. Passing trains are very loud comparatively.
Loving this Class 700 it's such a smooth ride with great brakes & the scenery looking out of that big windscreen is just awesomeness so it's Excellent.......said in a Mr Burns voice from me.
Turns out the AI doesn’t bother to turn on the passenger lights either. Literally no lights at all on AI trains besides the passenger screens. Would you believe me if I told you that this is a train operating an actual nighttime passenger service?
A couple of other sundry observations... I actually think the replay value of these as supplied will be fairly low. The Strood to Gillingham "bus stop" low speed crawl is one of the reasons I don't play SEHS as often as I should. There are only so many times you can do that run without going loopy and needing to go off and do something else. One to dip into now and again. Unless something more suitable is coming later this year, the planning for the 700 should really have included a better route than this to put them through their paces. As I alluded too in another thread a day or two ago. Some of the stop markers for the 700 timetable seem to have been set up with a very small trigger radius. At Rochester and Chatham I stopped about 20m short, usually good enough but didn't get the trigger to open doors. Had to draw forward to under 10m. Oh yes and it is definitely dragging down the normally smooth frame rate.
ive been thrashing this 700 on Edinburgh to Glasgow route on AC its very good and holds its power very nice. i agree with everyone else the sounds/audio needs looking at, otherwise its a good purchase but id like to see it given its own faster route other than SEHS.
1) Total steal at under £8 2) Looks really excellent so far (i.e. in the 2 minutes I’ve had chance to look at it). No doubt there will be issues but there’s nothing smacking me right in the face. 3) If you cack-handedly trigger the ‘Overspeed, contact the signaller’ message (don’t ask) does anyone have any idea how you get rid of it?!
i’ve requested a refund as i’ve seen others paying a lot less than i have for the 700 as a part of the bundle when i bought it separately. will this be ok to do then repurchase as part of the bundle as i have everything in it apart from the 700 (of course) and the rhtt?
Oh it’s not bad despite my earlier comments in the thread. But the sound levels are definitely off and it needs a better native route. I suspect it will be one I bring out the box once a week or fortnight, or if it RNG’s on Quick Play. Back to Hamburg Lubeck for me later, or maybe I’ll give the ROG 37 a thrashing.
Constantly taking it back and for from Rainham to Dartford will get boring very quickly so it certainly needs a route to stretch its legs I did a scenario planner in it on the bml and it was lovely giving it a good thrashing
Perhaps a bit of an overexaggeration, I can think of probably 3 trains that don’t properly operate their lights. I don’t really want an issue like this to be brushed aside as if it’s present on most trains, because it isn’t.
Loving it; been waiting for the 700 to come to the game and it’s really well implemented here… don’t mind the stopper nature of the route as used to riding on the Sutton to Wimbledon loop! Agree though, it’s hopefully gonna feature on the summer release on either MML or or ECML
Picked this up as soon as it released, been waiting for this for so long! All in all I think they’ve done a great job minus some audio problems, I’m on pc btw. One question I wanted to ask was about the lack of exterior pis boards for Rainham platform 0. I can’t remember if they’re present in real life or not? Have been to the station many times but just can’t remember.
I mean, I guess. Haven't been paying attention to many new route releases (why would I, I'm not buying them at that price), but I would've thought I would hear more about the most basic of safety features on the trains not working in new releases.
Agree with some comments RE sound having been on the 700 quite recently for a lengthy trip the sound is just not right. Seems to be a Class 350 sound profile certainly not the 700, sound simply is wrong and not fit for purpose.
I really wouldn't go that far, the dc sounds are still nearly identical and dtg did give a very valid reason as to why they used this sound set.
DTG couldn't get 700 DC sounds due to not being able to do a recording trip with a moving 700 and there were complex licensing issues with AP which meant they couldn't get the DC sounds from them either. There wasn't any other way of getting sounds for the DC version.
They mentioned on the stream and admitted the DC sounds are from the 350. They couldn't get the 700 DC sounds
Epic is releasing first Steam is releasing after (which they are waiting on) If there are issues please report them Sad to hear about no sparks, a patch is needed
Overall I'll give it a B, notch up the sounds in the cab and I'll raise it to a A-. The AI PIS seems hit and miss, spotted an AI showing Luton on the front so sometimes its working (was day light so not sure if saloon lighting was on). Personally I feel DTG should have broke the mould with this and rather than giving us 7 scenarios on SHES, they should've have stuck with the 3 or 4 usual scenarios and then as a bonus 3 or 4 scenarios on BML.
I know you can leave it up to the creators club, which already has some scenarios, but I really can't fathom why DTG wouldn't spend a few hours making some scenarios for the other routes that use the 700, it would add so much value to the package. Is it the case that there would be an issue with content in the package for routes that people might not (yet) own? I'd bet my house that people who'd brought the 700 would quickly pick up any additional DLC if there were scenarios for it.
A purchais which im happy through and through since a long time from dtg releases. Currently im ductaping around with hauling Very good dlc, highly recommend!
Why could they simply not record a moving train, do not see what could have stopped them? Think also it is a valid question should a train even be released if the correct sounds cannot be sourced?
Yea works, but still figure out a few things since tsw doesnt model the iso cocks etc, at least i could get it towed with the dellner adaptor lol. Currently i have trouble with the electric connections, ill try to find a workaround like usual.
