[Removed - DTG Alex: Insulting] ^ Sigh.... 390001 So why add an antagonistic post? You complain about off topic more than anyone else on this forum yet there you are again first in off the bat.. And I get my post removed by DTG staff, pfft I give up!
I saw the video. I'm goin need so more info on this. I can't really tell what the difference to be honest. I'm getting older and my vision is getting worse but i really can't. But it does look nice
It works in QD BTW if anyone was wondering. Obviously you can't choose which cloud pattern, and they appear to randomly assigned, but if you select "cloudy" you will get a random "Fair Cloud" pattern etc.
I've been thinking Pookeyhead to circumnavigate all the " yeah but you got it for free" posts you should buy my copy for me......
I know there has been a lot of comments about the pros and cons about it the pack but, imho, there is no getting away from it - it does look very good indeed.
My copy/paste isnt working or I would have quoted. The last point of the last page in the manual states that only Fair Cloud moves so Fair Cloud (Wind) dynamic patterns are the encouraged weather pattern.
Not at all, career scenarios will be using default weather patterns that are not included in the SWEP v2 this is only worth while if you are using scenarios that have been created with the SWEP v2 and as you will get one of the new cloud layers included in the cloud pack, or scenarios created with the new pack in mind (possibly QDs not sure as I don’t do them ever). If you know what you are doing you could edit the career scenarios in to standard scenarios and amend the weather manually. On a side note I would recommend trying some standard scenarios from 3rd parties they tend to be much higher quality but will have a larger set of requirements. Powerhouse scenarios are probably the easiest place to start as they are simple to install and show if you have the requirements, or there are a lot more great freeware scenarios hosted on the likes of ATS, OTS and others.
Good analysis. I am still doing core scenarios and would probably not benefit at the moment. Also wow, it was twice as much as I thought, and needing the SWEPv2 first? Regardless of whether it is worth it, my current play does not use it, so I will wait.
According to the blog, the fair weather clouds will move if you have dynamic clouds set in game, but high altitude stuff does not. As those are so high anyway, you don't really see any movement on those in real life anyway.
OMG it is expensive !!!!!.......... and the same can also can be said of buying a high end car. Just how amazing is this pack ?? Have just loaded a couple of RS John's amazing scenarios from ATS and was met with this:- Did not have to change anything by tweaking the scenarios weather patterns etc. it just automatically loaded the new clouds over the existing WEP2 patterns. Absolutely blown away. With the AP Track / Signal / Weather / Cloud EPs, TSC is almost unrecognisable from the vanilla state. Rolls Royce / Ferrari / Lamborghini / McLaren / Maserati ..... Yes, they come at a price but by heck are they worth it. So is this pack. I appreciate not everyone has the budget or unlimited expense account to treat themselves to all the latest TSC upgrades, they do come at a price but trust me this is well worth the dollar if you can afford it. Absolute game changer for me.
I can't believe how good it is either. I was expecting to alter scenarios to see this pack in action, but like you, it's all there from the get go, even quick drive. The visuals are stunning. With SWEP2.0, Track EP, Signals EP and now Cloud Pack, the game looks outstanding. It actually looks more real than TSW IMO.
It is absolutely stunning for scenarios, I did a couple of runs between London and Bedford and the difference was very nice. Pretty sure it’s not working on Quick Drive for me though did one on ECML as the sun was setting and the clouds were really low res and didn’t look very good at all. Something to investigate over the weekend. Overall I’m very happy. I’ll be honest, the price was higher than I expected, but when I compare it to a Lego set (my other hobby), really not that bad for the hours of enjoyment I’ll get from it. Looking forward to seeing what scenario writers can do with it.
I just picked that because it was the latest scenario uploaded to ATS and I love driving the HST. The clouds with haze in the distance were just stunning.
Scenarios are starting to appear that use it already. https://alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/ecr-2t17-1257-exmouth-paignton/
I don't know if the SWEP works with Quick Drives as you chose the weather at the start of the QD. Standard Scenarios have the weather pre-set for the SWEP
Thanks, I emailed AP and got the answer that if it’s a quick drive for a SWEP supported route that it should use new clouds. I was requested to send in a screenshot if I can’t resolve it myself. So I’ll do that over the weekend.
It will choose a random cloud pattern, but yes, it works with QD. The downside, is that some of the cloud patterns don't work well with dawn and dusk, just as they didn't with SWEP2.0, so it can put in clouds that don't look that amazing at those times of day. But it does work with QD.
It works fine in QD. But you have to quit and restart TSC between each drive, since the way it works with QD is that a script installs a new set of clouds (presumably via a script that controls time of day placeholder shortcuts) each time TSC starts up. That is the workaround to the TSC core limitations described in developer blog 2.
Thanks Kim that has resolved my issue. I'm seeing different sky patterns now in Quick Drive and after a couple of attempts found one I liked. Then spent 30 minutes driving down the ECML looking out the right hand cab window of my HST watching a beautiful sunset.
I installed the whole pack last night, however, still haven't got around to basking in its magnificence because of non stop baking.
Oooh could I please order a tray of chocolate brownies & a couple of Victoria Sponges. Oh and a new Class 47 if not too much trouble LOL
Question for owners of the pack. Do they work when a scenario's weather is not a SWEP 2.0 pattern, i.e. a V1 or non-SWEP pattern? I am aware it says on the website that they don't but was wondering if that's borne out in practice. For example, it says that if non-SWEP 2.0 patterns are used with SWEP 2.0 the sky may malfunction but I have never had that (yet). What does the sky look like if a scenario that uses SWEP V1 is run?
I just ran this, which uses SWEP1.0 and got this. So I guess it just inserts random "fair cloud", as the actual in-game menu for this scenario says "clear", but it still just dumped some clouds in there. [edit] Just editing to tag you bart2day
Hi All, I'm going to state the obvious but I think it's a fair comment. There's no doubt that the pack and its screenshots add another level to TSC and I'd be really tempted to buy it however for £20 it's just too expensive for me to consider at that price. I think what sours this pack is the "double-dipping" going on here - if I've already paid for the Sky and Weather enhancement pack surely clouds should be included within this. For quite a few players, we're almost expected to "triple-dip" if we'd already purchased the V1 pack as well. AP are a business and they need to make money and recoup costs however some of these consumer practices seem to get a pass. I'd imagine if DTG released something like this, would be mostly met with negativity and ideas of "money-grabbing". I will end up getting this pack, however it will be a sale purchase for me along with the signal enhancements. AP generally make very good quality products and I think they're in part responsible for maintaining the longevity of TSC which I think we're all grateful for. But for those who have purchased - enjoy! Just don't forget to look down at the ground whilst you're hurtling towards that yellow signal!
Well, I'd thought I'd give my two pence for what its worth but your comment is obviously one that doesn't want to consider a reasoned debate or acknowledgment of opinion. I think I know which camp your tent is firmly pitched in and thats fine by me.
Yes, absolutely still worth it. I just played an American route called the North Jersey Coast & Morristown Lines and I applied the new weather to it and I played a career scenario and even with just minor clouds I felt a huge improvement. It probably doesn't look like much from just screenshots but you really feel it when you're driving the train in the scenario with the new clouds yourself. This is a very fair opinion. The value of this pack really matters on what your preferences are for the game. You love taking screenshots or just want your game looking as lovely or realistic as possible then this is certainly for you. If you only just care about the relaxing experience of driving trains and not bothered about realistic graphics then maybe this doesn't matter so much to you and so it's value isn't that high for you. For me it's so worth it. I love taking screenshots and I love taking train photographs in real life and so I love my game looking as good as possible and I run with lots of enhancements and this Cloud Enhancement Pack improves things even more, beyond what I thought possible. Loving it so far! Also with your last statement, it's so true... Playing the scenario as mentioned above I found myself just looking at the sky more than the tracks and often went over the speed limit or had to brake quite hard approaching a station because I wasn't paying attention to the HUD.
Here's the group of 5 screenshots I got from the scenario, first screenshot honestly not mattering all that much since it's in a tunnel of course. But regardless I love the new clouds and really increased my immersion by a large amount. It feels like the shaders and lighting were either improved with the update to Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 or the Cloud Enhancement Pack itself just improved it even more because I noticed an improvement there too. Either way it's so good... Also please keep in mind like I mentioned I use lots of enhancements on my game, including RW Enhancer 2 and ReShade so for those without those enhancements the results may look different for you but either way I still noticed improvements!
I‘m not in the group of people that says TSC can look better than TSW. However I have to say after this new pack TSC certainly has the better weather in my opinion. The only combination of weather I don’t much like is heavy clouds transitioning to darkness. That still looks a bit fake to me and one combination actually looked low resolution it was so bad, but if I see that one again I think I‘ll send in a screenshot to AP. Everything else is looking stunning. Sunset with light clouds and haze is actually beautiful. (So much so that I missed a station watching it). I’m really enjoying the pack so far. I‘m going to hit the manual this afternoon and see if I can teach myself how to add specific weather to existing scenarios. For some reason I enjoy driving in the rain, so I want to change some things.
