I would say so as they are both bland design wise. I do think the 90s, or whatever you want to call them, look more attractive than the 87s but the original 87s are better overall.
I call the 90s the 87/2s because they are technically the same train, with updated bodywork and a newer system
How about a JR West/Central N700s On the Kyoto to Kagoshima route this train gets treated as a commuter train if you need to go Kyoto to Kobe round trip using the Shinkansen 1.435m tracks. If you are standing inside Kyoto Station on the 1.067m tracks how about the JR EF210 this will run there down to Hiroshima or in tow with a Dual Voltage 20kv 50/60hz 1.5kv DC loco towards the Kamon Tunnel
Sorry, but I personally think they look better than some of the UK boxes already posted in this thread.
They look better than the 460s I’ll admit that, but otherwise they really look rather horrible personally!!!
Do you mean a Darth Vader EMU due to their fronts? how about a Riesa-Dresden DB BR180 DR BR230 Knödelpresse
The 800 is nice and all that, pretty, smooth & clean looking a more realised 395 and a better Hitachi model frankly, but it's kinda safe, cookie cutter high speed with all the roundness, dangling near the edge over-streamlining, loosing all distinctive character & striking edge, turning it into another slick pill. Like modern Shinkansens, they're all too goofy looking. I see Hitachi models as indicative of everything becoming homogenised, just not that exciting to me, and nothing compared to the TGV Sud Est. A classic 'sports train'. On the flip side the Renfe Class 100 is an example of how to spoil a great design. Just a TGV guilty of eating too much Paella on holiday! I mean I tell you what if we ever get a piece of ECML, and if it's only one piece of intercity stock, it better be the 91 as the 801 will be the boring choice imo.
Just no. Modern British trains look wrong without yellow fronts and they are there for more than aesthetics.
A 101 with a nice long rake of IC coaches, and driving trailer Same goes for a class 87 in IC Swallow with Mk3s The ICE1 The 321 family is a neat design, particularly in this superb livery
