No clue how long I'm supposed to wait at this signal but traffic seems to be stuck.

You get clearance at 7:07. Freight has to wait. ;)

Thanks. I was patient, but apparently not patient enough. I still think the game should've been more clear on how long the wait is supposed to be. And personally I think waiting over 10 minutes at a red signal isn't interesting gameplay.

I noticed the train, seemed like a passenger train so I didn't expect it to stay at the station for *that* long. Everything seemed stuck, with no indication on when things were going to move again.

I think it's fairly realistic, especially when the night is over and passenger services start running. I usually get off the train, wander around a bit, check the bogies etc :). Much better than boring green runs. And using GodMode, you can accelerate the time x4 if you're impatient.

Oh it is, but that doesn't make it interesting gameplay.

It's not the red signal I'm having issues with. It's the 10+ minute wait and the lack of feedback from the game UI telling me to hold on a little longer...

I ran into the same trap. To the point that I left the 185 and went on foot to the station to check why that RB wouldn´t move. It eventually did when I arrived, it was then running back to the freight train. But of course, that one had also moved now and made me a railfan. I could just wave to the AI driver. :D

But I agree, it seems quiet realistic to me. There´re other adverse signals if you speed too much and have to follow another RB to Hagen. I kinda liked this run as PZB training.

A train like this one (800t - 1200t) is usually run in PZB mode U, max allowed speed is 100 km/h. You'll not run into adverse signals after 7:07 sticking to 100 km/h.

Although it can be a bit more complicated. The empty train weight of this consist is 29.52 t * 30 + 85t, equalling 970.6 t. TSW shows the total weight being 1089 t, meaning the containers total payload is only 118t, so it could possibly be running in "M" mode at 120 km/h. Gosh, I'm too lazy to calculate the brake hundredths of this one ;)

So I've calculated 300 BrH (!) for this train - the Sggmrss wagons could carry much more load and have powerful brakes. That's more than enough braking power. Run it in "M", 120 km/h. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually related to another thread (Time of Day) but this is quite interesting: There´s a lighting difference depending on the play mode. Pic below was taken at the same spot at the same time, but I´ve spawned on foot at the station at 07:05 and took that service over. While you (I think) drove it from the start either from journey or timetable. It´s definitely darker.

I did the run from Journey mode, it uses November as month, so it's darker around that time.

You might be right, I´ll confirm that (although I *think* I spawned same date same hour)

usually the dispatcher/signaller or simply in german "Fahrdienstleiter" is supposed to tell you that, but TSW is just a simulation so... that kind of realism is sadly not built in :(

Well, a "wait until..." objective wouldn't hurt here.

Still doesn't make the wait a fun gameplay experience IMO, but at least it's clear what's going on.
