Hidden Gem-an Amazing Route!!!

Discussion in 'TSW General Discussion' started by SD40Australia, Jul 17, 2023.

  1. This route was in Rush Hour launched 2 years ago.

Since then there has been some big improvments although it was very good then. I just had SPADs at the new Meissen Triebischital branch.

Anyhow, the depth of the route is truly amazing!!

The scenery and amount of buildings seems like it is in Tokyo!

Seriously the Midland Main Line is missing me now!!

It has a narrow gauge railway!!

And with Meissen and diversity of freight the possibilities are endless!!

Riesa-Dresden really is TSW at the top of its game, especially since they relented and quickly restored the Meißen branch with its brilliant architecture. (My only real quibble with it, now that certain red-light bugs have been fixed, is the blue 363 which makes no sense at all)

The only downside is those long, long almost silent all stations 766 Dosto drives on the Meissen services. Though not as bad as the 90 minute Dosto trips on the Chemnitz route.

Its one of the best routes. Different local commuter services, longer regional services, ICE trips, freight lines, branch lines and fast lines. So much variety. One of the best routes there is.

This route is really one of the best we have in the game. Good scenery, a lot of different services and 3 branches.
P.S What's the name of the narrow gauge railway ?

It is indeed a gem of a route and benefits greatly from the various German DLC layers. Would love an extension to Leipzig, although that is seemingly unlikely.

Agree on this. DRA is one of my absolute favourite Routes in TSW. I feel like traffic wise, this Route reassemble the real life exceptionally well. Maybe better than any other german route. I actually live in Dresden since a couple of years and certain areas are represented well indeed. The variety of all the different services makes it hard to get bored with this route.

One question regarding your first picture: does the 112 regularly sub on freight trains or was it just you picking this loco for this service? Im asking cause i dont own Hamburg Lübeck, but would love to get my hands on the 112 for the RE Services in Großenhain direction. But 112s didn't do freight services at all (except some super rare occasions of course afaik).

While DRA is certainly no longer my most played route (more of a vintage person so you can guess which routes you can find me on), I do still think that DRA is a fantastic route. It really feels like a busy mainline unlike many of the big ghost stations in TSW - almost like the climax of all the previous German routes that built up to it. That’s not even mentioning the incredible improvements to physics (all of the locos and especially the freight trains) and the night lighting. The scenic Meißen-branch tops it all off. It’s going to be exciting if the speculations are true that the Vectron will come to DRA as well.

DRA actually makes me want to visit Dresden at some point. Seems like a fantastic place to enjoy trains :D

Nope, you need HBL for this loco. It also does freight services irl, but as you said it’s very rare

Yes, it's TSW at its best, what all routes (new and old) should aspire to.

This is my most played route in the game since I usually go Keyboard on the Xbox for PZB. For the freight services, I always get RSN locomotives DR BR243 and 185.5 Riesa-Dresden Version. In some cases using the Bremen-Oldenburg DR BR250 on tanker trains the front pantograph will not raise an issue that still bugs the Xbox version forcing you to use the DB BR250 Red colour from RSN. The odd thing about Riesa Dresden with Wunderline Bremen Oldenburg Groningen is that you can get a journey mode run with a DB BR110.3 powering your Dosto
Gameplay wise fits both DR BR243 and DR BR250 because this was their stomping ground pre German Reunification. To make it even better a DLC with GDR themed locomotives Steam Dampflok 52.80 65.10 23.10 18 201 Diesel DR BR119 U-Boat Dicke Babelsbergerin DR BR118 DR BR104-106 V60 Ost Goldbrolier. Electric DR BR211/242 Holzroller with Rekowagen DR Y-Wagen
